    I thought that 找人 meant to physically look for somebody. In that case, "contact" is not good in English, because "contact" means by phone or by e-mail. So 随时来找我 should be "Come and see me anytime". (This is very common, especially in an office setting.) Similarly, 随时来找我 should be "If you have any issues, come and see me". (This also is very common in an office setting.)

    This is a great expression to learn, and it certainly does mean "suffer in silence". However, "suffer in silence" is a somewhat literary form, rarely used in everyday spoken language. We are more likely to say "take it lying down", and this is very common. We could also say "grin and bear it". Or "turn the other cheek". This is a biblical expression, where Jesus advises people not to hit back when slapped, but to "turn the other cheek". Its use is quite common. … I also appreciated learning : 别把责任推到妹妹身上 = "Don't shift the blame onto your sister"

    When learning Chinese, one of the challenges language learners face is differentiating similar-sounding words with distinct meanings and usages. In this video, we will explore how the three Chinese terms 到达 (dàodá), 抵达 (dǐ dá), and 达到 (dádào) should be used. Although they all include the character 达, which conveys a sense of 'reaching' or 'arriving,' they differ in context and application.

    In English, we have "get on one's high horse" which is very different from 马上. It means to use one's high status to treat others in a demeaning way. My computer translates it as 摆出一副傲慢的样子 or 居高临下 which both seem right to me. 妈妈不在家时姐姐摆出一副傲慢的样子叫我洗碗说她不得不要看重要的电视节目。 "While mom was out, big sis got on her high horse and told me to wash the dishes because she had an important TV show to watch."

  • @mountaintag
    @mountaintag 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I think that 偏偏我 exactly means "me of all people". This means the same as "unfortunately only me", but the wording is different. So, I think that : 大家的行李都没事,偏偏我的被弄丢了 could be translated as : "Everyone's luggage is fine, but, of all people, mine got lost"

      你究竟懂不懂我在说什么? To translate this, I would add "so" at the beginning of the teacher's text and say : "So, do you understand what I'm talking about?" This "so" indicates that all discussion is over, and we just want the final outcome. This is how 究竟 means "finally", "in the end", or "when all is said and done".

    我才不稀罕。 It seems that 稀罕 is always used in the negative with 不. In English, we could say : "I couldn't care less". This is stronger than "I don't care", which I think is usually 我不在乎。

    就是名包他也会买给你的。 Although 买给 is an incorrect grammatical structure, I'm seeing it more and more often. In this sentence, I don't really see how it could be avoided. If we put the 的 between 买 and 给 then it's not so serious, but more unnatural. 就是名包他也会买的给你。

    • @learnmandarinin5minutes
      @learnmandarinin5minutes 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Verb-给 sentence structure. Second sentence example is grammatically wrong. You can say 就是名包他也会给你买的。
