    How did you make out with the Sandcraft steering stabilizer? I am looking into using one for my RS1.

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman หลายเดือนก่อน

      So it can be used but you’ll need a steering rack from a 72” wide turbo S. Or least that’s what I used. Reason is that the tie rod screws into the rack is different sizes for both units. Turbo S stabilizer bolts to the rs1 but the S is 72 wide while rs1 is 64”. So tie rods are too long. I have a picture somewhere showing the size difference in bolts, I think ones a 12mm and other is 14mm but it is in there. Been long time since I’ve had time to do any tube stuff but I’m getting there.

      Sure can. Still haven’t got the rs1 fully redone but Ik the cage is sitting in the loft still. I don’t remember where I ordered it from but I used a wiper motor setup for a boat. Figured water proof, also it had the ability to change the degrees of swing back and forth allowing me to get the correct amount of travel. The arm is a dual arm setup like a bus would use, idk the fancy term but it keeps the wiper blade straight as it travels across the glass. More to come once i finally get back to logging but that should help your google-fu a bit in searching.

      I can not take full credit for this. However, I recessed a brass pipe cap into the wood for a burn pot if you will. The glass appears as a single tube, but it’s actually two pieces. Both “C” shaped that face one another. You the slightly offset them and it will suck air between to create the swirl.

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So without crunching numbers or parts etc, I caution picking a set stretch and advise to choose a length that would be common to another so as to be able to buy an off the shelf prop shaft. I’m stretching to full 4 seat length for this exact thing. RS1’s have a turbo driveline so start there and see what others fit. Good resource is the polaris parts look up, complete with PN’s and diagrams.

    • @michaelbigley7731
      @michaelbigley7731 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SSGPohlman I’ll take that into consideration, but I don’t see the issue with taking the drive line to a shop to have it re-tubed longer or cut and re-tube myself then have it balanced.

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      By no means did I want to convey that it can’t be done that way, I was just merely stating, as I did in one of the videos, that a custom shaft is awesome until it breaks out on the trail. Lots harder to find a custom one (unless buying two) than an off the shelf or after market built to factory specs. When looking up the satv stretched rs1, they went custom and 3” short of a 4 seat length. Great since they own a full shop but dumb given it was only 3” more to use one that’s already available most anywhere. I’d have to look later at the pro xp and rs1’s to see if that shaft is even close. Trans side rs1 is a flange and I think the pro xp runs the rs1 style front diff. So it’s possible. Trust but verify

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      It may seem like I only run SATV but they have been good parts for me since my last machine. Since I’m stretching my RS1i wanted high clearance and they fit the bill well. They are heavy and beefy in ways I can’t explain or show on video. Add to that a lifetime warranty. If I manage to bend or break one, pretty sure those arms will be the least of my worries.

    Can it be a typo? Continuous discharge at 2.0A not 20A

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m not sure I had considered that originally so I went back to check the sheets again. If 20A was a typo then there is a whole bunch of typos since it is used as a calculation in other areas. There’s quite the section where I discuss the spec sheet and you’ll notice it’s mathematically all tied together but real world it doesn’t work. This was shown by the tester draining the batteries well before I could get anywhere near rated draw. Life is slowly returning to normal here so I’m working on a setup to do the testing of the two packs, I’ll get it out ASAP, thanks for the feedback.

      Given the flat rear tire it doesn’t turn as easy as a rounded motorcycle wheel but you just lean a little harder and it will. At slower speeds like backing out of a parking spot (has reverse) you can simply use the handle bars and turn the front wheel. Upside to a flat rear is no need for a kickstand.

    are you even using a BMS (battery management system) ????? never and I mean NEVER mix up random cells together and make a pack like that with em, you're lucky it didn't burnt down your house also keeping a big bucket of sand (pour on the cells incase of fire) and doing multiple test charges before actually using the pack would be a good idea.

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not use a bms on that pack as it was all salvaged cells, which is also why I didn’t do fuses like my other video. I have also done the rest of my packs with bms or bms leads w a smart charger. They we all soldered w strips and essentially a bomb, which is why they went in an ammo can. I’m working on property so I can build a house and a shop so if there is a fire it’s just the shop. Hard to make money on 170 subs though lol. Sand would have been handy if not being in a steel latched can. Mixing the cells, they were all tested and assembled using repackr.org. So I guess you could say that it was a purpose built pack but w out a whole lot of safety built in, I knew this going in as well. Thanks for the feedback.

    • @viking988
      @viking988 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      " essentially a bomb" well yes it was a bomb indeed and by mixing random cells (not talking about the grey ones) you can do it but only like for powerwalls/power banks but fused ofc as they are not necessarely the same capacity or have the same discharge/charge rate. Using fish paper rings for the + side is pretty much required for safety. Shrink wrapping, padding with heat resistant foam, insulating with kepton tape (non conductive and heat resistant tape) using a bms for charging, discharge is ok without a bms as long you don't go below the minimum voltage recommanded for you battery type. otherwise goodluck with your projects, be safe.

      I am but as we know sometimes life crops up. I do have more of it disassembled but didn’t upload that as I figure most can tear one apart. I’m in talks with dirt dudes tv (another channel) to collect all old parts and sell to them. Still piling parts and chipping away, had plenty time on quarantine but decided better to do floors since family wasn’t home for those days. Thanks for the comment, let’s me know that people are actually following it somehow.

      Yeah it would seem that way, even w me being 6’1” it actually is hard for me to scrape. However, if I ever get off my arse and finish it, I do have an oak wood fender shaped to fit right there. Appreciate the feedback. Stay tuned, it has updates already and a fender in the works.

    Good work, but why the massive rear tyre? It's front wheel drive, all that rear rubber is just slowing you down and ruining the handling

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The rear is part of the “custom” aspect. I do understand LRR tires etc etc but I wanted something that stands out and it does. As far as handling, its really not as bad as youd think, just have to lean a little harder. Up side is that when sitting at a light, I dont have to put my feet down and eliminates a kick stand. Appreciate the comment, stay tuned as Ive made frame mods, added a second battery, and more!

    Cool! Today my order of 48 spin08HP super cells arrived. I'm planning on pairing them into 1S2P packs that can be configured into a 20S2P for a motorcycle or go kart, and into two 12S2P for a AWD mountain board.

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      There have been a lot of ppl building w those cells. Id say from a numbers perspective that 20s2p might not have the range you hole for given only 16ah. I have an 14s 18ah on my electric chopper, it done 20 ish miles before I was near the bottom but thats only drawing roughly 1500 watts. Taking the same numbers, I think would be good for a mtn board. Stay tuned for more and good luck on your build!

      @quinnfoster4671 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SSGPohlman haha thanks for the consideration on the range! None of these projects are commuters, just for ripping around for fun. If I need more range I would make cheap high capacity li-ion packs and use a DCDC converter/charger to extend it.

    Fender on the back wheel is going to be a must.., I just don't like the foot pegs as part of the stearing , But very nice design simple streamline Like it!!

    • @SSGPohlman
      @SSGPohlman 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, a fender/back rest is in the works in a follow up video. As for the pegs, really not an issue since you dont steer it like a car. Just leans like a regular motor bike. Only time its an issue is say really slow 90* turns, like corners of sidewalks. Either way, thanks for the feedback. Stay tuned as theres more. Also doing bluetooth ammo can soon, sons pocket bike upgrade, etc etc.
