  • Part 1 This is to find out why the Kimo ratchet batteries seem to die on users way too soon after purchase. Brand new ratchet and batteries. Taking a look at the packs, individual cells, running them through a tester and finding replacement cells for when your packs go dead.
Part 2 the testing will follow once I can find a way to make a standardized test. Will test for the claimed Ft Lbs of torque, along with run time for each pack, both factory and rebuilt. Who knows, I may not have gained anything, or I may have just extended the life of my ratchet by a long time.

I need to edit the content and post but a summary till then is better performance by far.

Can it be a typo? Continuous discharge at 2.0A not 20A

I’m not sure I had considered that originally so I went back to check the sheets again. If 20A was a typo then there is a whole bunch of typos since it is used as a calculation in other areas. There’s quite the section where I discuss the spec sheet and you’ll notice it’s mathematically all tied together but real world it doesn’t work. This was shown by the tester draining the batteries well before I could get anywhere near rated draw. Life is slowly returning to normal here so I’m working on a setup to do the testing of the two packs, I’ll get it out ASAP, thanks for the feedback.

Unfortunately I never got to see how good or bad the batteries were made on my KIMO 12v cordless ratchet due to the fact the ratchet itself turned into a spark machine followed by a smoke machine on the 2 use. Not more than 15 mins of runtime. THESE ARE JUNK! Don't waste you money. KIMO customer service is a mirage! Nice page out there to "Contact us", but the page and email address contained on said page is not in working order. If you would like a couple more batteries to test, you can have the 2 useless ones I have. PM me.

Well I am still working out how I’m going to test them to try and make it consistent. Got slowed down being on quarantine so got to get back to this one at some point. Had small lithium fire on the electric chopper so I’m editing video for that as well. Ill see how the tests go and let you know on the spares.

@@SSGPohlman Ok sounds good. They'll be here. Kimo is not responding to me so I don't think I'll ever need them.

Still working on that, life has a funny way of getting in the way. Also ordered more batteries to rebuild the electric chopper that melted down. So, more to come just a bit going on. Thanks for the reply, at least let’s me know to keep at it, even if I’m not one who lives via tube.

Just make sure the specs are enough for what you want to do. I still have mine and tend to use my hacked battery over the factory one. Let me know how it goes.
