@KikiP-rb8no I tried Fix it Grammar at the beginning of the year and then tried Masterbooks and Rod & Staff. All have their pros and cons, and I really looked for what would be the best fit for where my kids are at. Currently, we're doing Beowulf Grammar, which is just right for this season. Our English is more interwoven with what we're reading in TruthQuest History, and the reading programs we're using (ABeCeDarian and All About Reading). There are many things I like about Rod & Staff (good moral content, simple structure, etc...) so it may be something we use again in the future. I take it year by year and assess throughout the year as well.

@aRealPageTurnerWithEcho oh ok I see, I was just wondering. I know Fixit is really popular and heard really good too! I've heard of Beowulf grammar too. We've used MB in the past for a few months 😆

@KikiP-rb8no 😂 I get you! I feel better about not being married to a curriculum if it's not the best fit than pushing, especially when there are so many great options available! Beowulf is a slower, more immersive grammar than fix-it so it's the best fit for us right now. But I could see us using fix-it later when they already understand the 8 parts of speech.

@Cam3rons_art Usborne sells through individuals and is now re-named Paper Pie. I would reach out to locals/ friends/family if you don't already know someone who sells their stuff. Also, there was a booth set up at the Homeschool Conference I went to, so you could check vendor lists at local events. Or perhaps your local library would have a contact that sells.

@reclaimingwonder We do have some of those! My dream series would go to various countries, visit some of the landmarks, maybe even go back in time as well to meet a historical figure. The closest I've found are Magic Tree House and Greetings From Somewhere (but both don't go quite as deep as I'd want and tend to have themes of kids lying to adults, which gets old). So far I've had to piece-meal from various random lists (ex: a book on Germans escaping Berlin by hot air balloon). I'm excited for the Beautiful Feet geography books this year but will still be looking for traveling chapter book adventures!

@Cyriousmama glad you watched all the way to the end! 😂 I was feeling like an infomercial for my life and had to reset 😘 I love the Passports! And the ones I got this year have weathered yellow pages which makes them look old and the boys thought was cool!

@jesswhite7347 So many options can be a blessing... and a curse! Thankfully there are lots of great options though and it's just seeing what might be the best fit for your family in this season. Chasing toddlers is it's own season for sure!

@homeschoollifemom She does have spine recommendations and will give corresponding page numbers or chapters when they relate to a given topic. But she says they are not required or necessary. I am only using the other books listed and it has been plenty.

@marisadaniela6 We also live in a rural area but the ILL has been amazing! There have only been a couple they couldn't get and there are so many listed in the curriculum that there are more than enough options. When I requested the books I put my 1st choice down and then listed the alternates. Almost always the 1st choice has come in.

@KikiP-rb8no That's another great thing about homeschooling! We get to try different styles and if something isn't the best fit for us or our kids it's ok to reassess. I hope this is a great fit for your family, and if it's not, that you give yourself grace to adjust it.
