Enjoying the Ride
I am always looking to maximize performance and fun while on the mountain. I have dedicated much of my life to the sport as an amateur mogul competitor, pro mogul competitor, Warren Miller and other ski movie athlete, ski coach and recently Freeride Qualifier Tour athlete. All of these aspects of skiing have helped me develop as a skier. However, at the end of the day my biggest goal for skiing is to enjoy powder days and big adventures in the mountains with like minded individuals. I welcome you to ride along with me and share in all the mountains have to offer.

I’m interested to hear the full comparison with the 110 model once you try the 104s in more conditions.
For sure, will update with more time on them 👍
Looks like you had good snow. I have actually never had a great experience on that run. My skies or should I say the base of my skies have had some issue with rocks, lol. I just got back from the K and it was a good day. The ten inch’s of snow sure helped. You skied that run very well. To those watching it’s tight and certainly step enough to keep you on your toes. Take care
Thanks man, it is an ‘interesting’ zone, always keeps you on your toes even with good conditions 😆
What size did you get? Stuck between the 176 and 182......
I was testing the 189 but I could def go shorter, in the longer lengths they will feel more stable/fast/sendy but a bit shorter and you gain maneuverability, hope this helps.
@@kurtschmid Went with the 176 cause I'm 5'8, and with the more directional mount thinking that's the right choice for the new daily drivers. Stoked on your videos, bro. Keep em coming!
Ok sick!!! Enjoy those boards, think you are going to dig em⛷️🤙
Thanks for this review. I’m currently on a Moment ski kick and just purchased my 5th pair (The O.G). I’m eyeing the Countach 104 or Wildcat 101 for this spring.
Nice!! Yeah, I love my Countach 110 and Comi’s , I would highly recommend the 104 for daily drivers 🤙
@ watching you shred the Comi in Chile to the song Sunshine was dope! I should have jump on the Ghost Train batch Moment made. Now I just cry every time I look at the “Sold Out”
Haha, thanks man, nice big canvas down there in Chile! I think Moment releases batches so keep your eyes 👀 peeled for your next opportunity to get those boards!
Made that look easy but it ain’t
Thanks Captain 🙏was a nice soft day on OL, not always this friendly!😊
Those conditions don't look all that bad. Try getting some rain on cut up powder, then getting a cold snap.
Haha I grew up on the east coast glacier, this ain’t that but it was pretty stale for the Sierras 😆
Great skiing! I only been to Mammoth once last May great mountain i'd like to go back someday!
Thanks man!🙏. Give me a shout if you come back, I’m just learning the zones but I’ll show you some fun stuff 🤙
Video was killer! Did you get a chance to take a look at Philippe's? Wondering if it's close to skiable even with the higher than average snow base.
Hey man, glad you like the vid!🙏. I honestly didn’t even really look up there over the last week. That being said, some things are like unusually filled in so it “might” be close, definitely with a rappel 😆. I am relatively new to Mammoth and haven’t skied that line yet, def on the list😊🤙
@@kurtschmid Good to know! Hopefully with this upcoming storm, it’s close to sendable. Love the vids man, keep em up! 😁
This is how you identify the difference between a strong skier.... and a BADASS. Doesn't hesitate before he drops in the 55+ degree rocky abyss...and his technique never breaks... regardless of speed or terrain. Can't wait to see what happens next! Subscribed.
Damn man, thanks for the kind words, really appreciate it! 🙏 Skiing such a cool, technical sport, keep putting in the work and it gives back, similar to surfing, skating, etc. 🏄♂️⛷️let’s GO!!! 🤙
Rippin it
Thanks man! 🙏
get a job
just kidding. nice video
…and then the hecklers arrived 😆
Yeeeeew! Thanks, still have 3 days till my lift spins!
Nice, first days are always awesome, enjoy 🤙
Love the DWs as my daily and Commander 92s for groomer days. Just had the Ghost Train 2025 bindings mounted yesterday! Hoping this rain goes away and Alyeska has a 4th kickass LaNina winter in a row! We need AK Pow Now ;))
Thanks for the quiver description, sounds solid! I am gonna get some DW’s to replace my BC Animas. I heard about your snowpack, hope it turns around soon man!👍
Ripping brah! I felt every turn from my beach chair here on Maui. Thanks for my ski-fix today 🤙
Haha thanks man! 🙏 glad your enjoying it from the comfort of your beach chair 😆🤙
So now what are we gonna do?
Best chair at mammoth
Definitely agree! I think of it as a mini KT
I can't stop watching your videos !
🙏 Thanks, glad you are digging them! 🤙
Well Done.
🙏
Nice!!! Empty up there
Yeah was a ghost town🙌. Lift 22 opened today, it’s skiing really nice🤙
Hey Kurt, where was that first line if you’re ok sharing? From what I saw it looks like behind 5, scope it out from climax? I got the rest.
Yup, right over the top of that knoll above 5, first time I ever bothered to go over there. I will definitely check again as that little air I did could be boosted with a nice landing (conditions permitting) 😆🤙
@ yeah looks like it. Got it, thank you!
I'm puzzled as to why you'd ski directly over obvious crevasse indicators. Are you just unfamiliar with what you're doing?
You have obviously never traveled in this area, it is heavily crevassed and requires skiing right next to them, and yes our guide knows his way around this glaciated zone.
@@kurtschmid I've climbed all over the world, but true, never there. But as objective hazards go getting a lift serviced ski run in wouldn't be worth flirting with crevasse falls like that. I've worked as Mountain Guide; they are not telling how pointlessly dangerous this is. Not worth it in my opinion. Especially with crowds. Maybe on some remote and rare objective, but not this.
Understood, yes, it’s not a piste run and definitely requires a local guide or local knowledge for that season. I have skied it many times and it’s mostly a fun cruiser but not for people without mountain knowledge/skills. There is an amazing range of stuff off the midi, this run is the low calorie, unsweetened, vanilla of them all. 😊
What GoPro settings do you use to capture your skiing ?
I apologize as I don’t really know except I am using the mode that reduces shaking and the highest quality film mode, hope this helps!
@@kurtschmid okay thank you, do you know what aspect ratio you used ?
@emilygrunseit2102 I will try to get that info for you.
@@kurtschmid thank you
Nice Pow! Hoping for a great 2024/2025 season!
Yeah man! Hopefully we have a winter like two years ago, let’s GO, happy shredding to you!!! ⛷️❄️🤙
Hi, there Kurt! I purchased the Countach 110 this season but still need to mount bindings. Did you choose the recommended -8 cm? Seems, you are a quite directional Skier with forward stance and pressure on the shovels 🤙... so am I... Maybe you could have went for -10 cm? Greetings from Austria. Cheers, Parzl
Hey Parzi! Sick that you got the Moment Countach 110, you will not be disappointed 👍. Our shop the Forerunner in Killington Vermont has always mounted on the recommended spot. I have the Countach and Comi’s mounted on this line and it is perfect!! I would mount on the recommended line unless you are skiing switch a ton. I land small airs switch but otherwise I am skiing forward. Totally stoked you got these boards, let me know what you think and thanks for dropping your question from OZ🙌🙏🤙
@@kurtschmidExactly what I was looking to hear! I grabbed a pair as well and have been holding off on the mount for the same reason. I'm a north east skier as well. This will be the ski I take with me out west, but I also plan on occasionally using them back east. How many days did you put on them at Killington? Even though they are big mountain chargers, did they feel at home in all types of conditions?
Hey man! I think you are going to be so stoked on your C110. I am based out in Mammoth for winters now and only get to K a few days a winter and didn’t use them at K. That being said, I used them on bulletproof Sierra refrozen and they are super versatile. I would say in general, if you can sink an edge in the snow the CT110 will be good. They are not unruly at all, enjoy them and post some vid shredding OL and tag me @mayor_of_gaperville 🤙
@@kurtschmid Will do! Thanks for the response. Happy shredding!
Well, it's quite long and exciting. I did this in the 80s, the glacier was in a better condition then today. But iconic, no - the Val de Mezdi or the Canale Holzer in the Dolomites are ten times more exciting.
Really nice line and skiing on the LPT there.
Thanks 🙏🤙
Heaven on earth bro!
Yeah man, it’s a special zone!! 🙌❄️🤙
🔥🔥🔥
Thanks for filming the Town Line, you nailed it!
What boots and bindings are you using here? I'm going to Cham first time this winter, will definitely ski the Vallee Blanche and doing my research. Thanks. I'm thinking two pair skis, one full alpine, one with tech binding, and hopefully one pair of boots.
Sick!! Once you go to Cham you will never be the same or look at mountains the same way. I am skiing the Black Crows Corvus Freebird (I think?). These skis are very robust which is needed for the varied conditions that you will experience each descent. I am on the Technica Zero G Pro boots (they are my favs). So, I recommend skis of about 105 for touring and about 112 for alpine. Here’s the unique thing about Cham, if you go off piste you will hit EVERY snow condition imaginable; hero to zero, prepare your equipment for the worst (refrozen) snow and you will be well prepared. Have an amazing, safe adventure!! 🤙🤙
@@kurtschmid Thanks Kurt, this is super helpful. Do you remember the bindings you were using?
@DanielDunn Marker Kingpins on all my AT setups, wouldn’t use anything else, very trustworthy 👍
@@kurtschmid Thanks man!
Welcome, enjoy!!
Looks like a blue square tree run here At Sugarloaf 😂
Hahaha love it, it ain’t that steep but promise it’s gnarly 🔥come check it for yourself 🤙
Why you skiing Flats?
It’s the Valle Blanche, not the north face of the midi.
Terrible ‘music’ juxtaposed with such visual beauty. For the life of me-why?
omfg so bad music for skiiing m8
Anyone that thinks that is good skiing doesn't know good skiing! Avi debris, wind ridges, wind pack, narrow ridge, crevasses and about 3 decent turns every 5 minutes. You can have my share of that!
can i skii on Vallee Blanche during dec 15th?
That is really early for the Midi which is the tram that accesses this terrain, I don’t think you can get to it unless it’s a big early snow season.
This is called fun 😅
100% grade A good times!!
Band name?
@@homealot Step Beats 🙌🤙🎶
What mtn?
It is a closed ski area on private land so I’d rather keep it down low.
@@kurtschmid ahh I think I know what it is thanks
great vid. Cornice bowl to Broadway is my run hehehe , i'm not at your level yet. hopefully this year mammoth gets an earlier dump and long into 2025'. should be a great year with the new lift at main lodge
Thanks man, Cornice Bowl can be pretty good when it comes together, def stoked to keep exploring Mammoth this winter! 🤙
Looks cool....maybe I can go there someday. I am scared of heights (beginning part)...but love skiing...
Awesome, go give it a go (with a guide)
which peak is this run on?
Bear Mtn; go into woods to the right of Devil’s Fiddle at the top.
Julio rock garden is the “gnarliest”.
I will check this zone, been a while, still positive Devil’s Den the gnarliest though, just a hornets nest of snow snakes, small drops and tight trees….go make a pass in this zone and let me know your opinion. 🤙
I dk if it’s the steepest run but the woods off devils fiddle will make you pucker up
@@John-jy8og you mean Devils Den th-cam.com/video/AzahLF8iakA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=Rr55z97WAdq1euAW
Epic line! How do you like those commis?
Thanks! Yes, the Moment Comi’s are my very favorite skis, if the terrain is big and the snow deep then they can’t be beat, I trust them on gnarly traverses and then when you point them they have a 7th gear 🏎️
That snow quality is 🤌
Yeah, snow was super dreamy, more days like this needed! 😊🤙
Aspects of that are amazing and I’m sure the video doesn’t even do it justice. That said . . . and hate me if you . . . that descent is something like 9200’ vertical feet and I think I counted fewer than 100 legitimate turns. For alpine skiers, this equates to what is essentially the longest traverse in the world. I suppose I have to appreciate it for what it is, but when I’m in skis I want to make turns.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. The whole point of the VB is that it is part tour, part skiing, part adventure. Any big mountain descent is going to require route finding, dodging crevasses, etc….trust me, there are lots of good turns if you hit it right. 🤙
Beautiful turn. You know which one I’m talking about
Thanks mang! 🤙
just a Lil sluff...
Careful !!
Gotta love some chugach 😊 where were you skiing out of?
Def love the place, flying out of Valdez with Alaska Backcountry Guides 🙌🤙
@@kurtschmid Awesome. I've been riding out of Valdez for 30 years now and finally picked up a few acres in Thompson pass a couple years back.
@Pals777 that is awesome man, such an awe inspiring zone of endless adventure! Good for you on T Pass, that is world class access🙌 🤙
