Because I know you took your time to leave this comment, I will take the time to give you a careful response. It may come off as condescending, but that is not my intention. My intention is to simplify the logic behind things that seem complicated but actually aren't. -russia having "meat assault" units like Storm-Z and Storm-V is not Ukrainian propaganda. Russian media like Mediazona report about them as well. However, yes, the information space is a domain of warfare and "truth is the first casualty of war" is an expression for a reason. In many cases the entire truth will be forever unknown, but you can bet that the party starting the war will be the first to betray the truth. -Understanding the nature of this war is simple, autocrats start wars time and time again to stay in power. It has happened ever since civilization has existed and it works for many reasons, the trend by itself should be enough evidence for the point to be considered, if not, we can certainly get into it more. Is Putin not an autocrat? -What is the west? Do you truly see it as an ever-expanding centralized force? Is the west "gaining influence" over Ukraine to control its resources or do Ukrainians just really like having better quality of life, trade opportunities, free speech, and being like Western European countries? What would you want if you were Ukrainian? -russia snatched up Crimea quickly because there was disorder during the revolution of dignity that ousted Yanukovych for violating the Ukrainian Constitution. Sic Semper Tyrannis. -russia's "peace plan" is not a peace plan, it's terms of surrender. This is why Ukraine will not accept them. -there are valid points regarding Europe's overreliance on the USA for its security needs. At the same time, the only time NATO's Article 5 has been put into effect was when European countries went to war in support of the US in Afghanistan. Some countries even lost more people per capita than the US. Believe it or not, Ukraine's NATO membership would relieve US presence in Europe, not burden it, this is one of the major points of their membership bid. Oh and btw, Ukraine sent soldiers to Afghanistan in support of the US too, this is without being a NATO member. -While the US has undoubtedly made the most military contributions to Ukraine, Europe has actually far surpassed the US in financial and humanitarian aid. -Finally, if russia do bad thing, yes, russia bad. If russia do good thing = russia good. Wars of conquest = bad = russia bad. Its in their own interest to stop the war because they don't need it as a country, last couple of times that government in russia collapsed it was as a consequence of unpopular wars; but they do want it as a nation... and yes, they DO want this war, don't make the mistake of thinking that there aren't people who deeply want and crave a struggle in their lives, something to fight for. This is how Putin's government managed to sell this war to their people, but that doesn't mean they won't tire of it eventually, hence the government collapses during WW1 and the collapse of the Soviet Union. alright, about the voice. It's not generative AI, it's a voice changer. The message in The Lake House about generative ai not being art is fair. It doesn't say it shouldn't exist or be used, just that it's not art. I actually agree. The expansion also goes to define art by making this statement. Second, I disagree about SBI and Remedy being the same. I don't mind Remedy being progressive. It's perfectly valid for them to create their games with the standards of excellence that they hold. Their work is straight up GOOD. SBI is potentially trouble because they're deconstructionists. Unlike Remedy, who believe that the only thing needed for the industry to have progressive values is to make good games that carry them, SBI openly believe that the industry needs to be burnt to the ground in order for those values to be represented appropriately, so I dare say that SBI isn't even "progressive" they're straight up going for revolution.

It's abundantly clear that Remedy is very much so not a fan of the stuff. If you didn't use voice AI stuff though, then apologies. As for SBI: hard, *hard* disagree. They don't say that. A person who works there says that. Are you going to start judging every company by the individual opinions of their workers? If you did, get ready to hate literally everything. And this idea that a consultancy firm is somehow manipulating the industry from behind the scenes is straight up right-wing propaganda. Like, full stop. It is a tactic used to ascribe power to something they don't like (in this case anything even remotely resembling progressive ideals) in order to get people to work against it. You often see this with RW groups doing the same thing with various minority groups, talking it up like they secretly run everything when in reality they do not have anywhere near that kind of societal power. What groups like SBI do is, essentially, offer advice. That's what consultancy groups actually do. SBI specifically offers advice in the realm of adding more diverse character portrayals in video games and also to make sure studios are treating employees fairly in terms of crediting workers and equal pay and benefits. For narrative assistance, they essentially just tell devs "hey if you don't know how to write a black character that comes off as relatable to black audiences, here's some people who can help you". That's literally all they do. They don't go in and say "make this character black, make this one gay, make this one a woman". If they're hired to straight up work on the narrative, they might do that. But I think they've literally only done that for two games, and one of them ended up being bad because of the *other* writers involved (looking at you, Suicide Squad). All of the others have been "here's how you can write this character and not screw it up". As for Alan Wake 2, Remedy themselves have straight up denied that SBI had them make Saga black, which is something the online right-wing claimed. For the claim that they made Insomniac add in the pride stuff to Spider-Man 2? Turns out that stuff was already there before SBI came on board. It's absolutely wild that a bunch of literally unfounded claims with zero evidence behind them has started a mass crusade against a company of 16 people who have barely done anything in the industry. Truly wild. Nobody said anything about them when they worked on Sable, AC: Valhalla, or Dota Underlords. Presumably because the *massive* surge in right-wing hate that popped up during 2021 hadn't started yet.

@@Haitch_Kay Try to read carefully, even some of my other comments with other viewers, I'm about 80% *agreeing* with you. Yes, that was my takeaway from Remedy's Lake House messaging. Let's go into SBI, because we have more in common than I think you think. I don't like the right wing culture warriors cancelling good games because characters are diverse and starting hateful disinformation campaigns just like I don't like the left wing social justice warriors cancelling good games because characters aren't diverse and doing the same thing. I understand that a part of SBI's consulting model helps games avoid the latter, but I certainly understand that the focus SBI's consulting isn't about "forcing" diversity into games, it's about writing believable characters *especially* if they're "diverse" (in quotes because in the case of SBI's consulting I understand this to be characters written by people who don't have the same identity perspective as them). This is all clear to me. It's also clear to me that a consulting team of 15 or so people isn't making major decisions that go over the development team of ~400+ people in different studios. This is why I'm ultimately unbothered by SBI being hired for a game. What I said about SBI being potential trouble is because they are playing the same game as the right-wing propagandists, just on the opposite team. You can say that Remedy hold progressive values, which is true, but it wouldn't be fair to call Remedy a left-wing organization. I believe the argument *is* fair in characterizing SBI. THAT is my concern, and I'm skeptical of the real-world benefits of working with a firm engaged in a political stance, not because of how it could affect one's creative work but because of how one's work is perceived as a result. I think values and worldview should precede one's politics, not be determined by them, so I hardly call anything "political." Having a black woman as your protagonist isn't political, it's absurd to think so... but SBI probably thinks it's a political statement... and I ask myself if they consider Max Payne to glorify toxic masculinity, would they consider it problematic? and if so, does that make them any different from the right-wingers chanting "go woke go broke?" Kind of a horseshoe theory thing going on there.
