What tool did you use to open the round covers please?

I know it’s been 12 years since this was posted so I probably won’t get a response but I’m attempting to do this tomorrow. When you moved to cylinder 2 it seems you spun the crank 180 degrees and not the 360 like you stated because the pac man thingy is facing the opposite way. Is this correct or no? Thanks for the video!!!

I followed your spec .004 then it sounded so loud as the engine gets hot. I think I should re adjust to .003 or .002

Weird, mine says .08 intake and exhaust written on the intake cover panel.

⭐️Counter clockwise by the looks of it and this confused me for over a hour trying to make sure. From tail pipe to seat to gas tank to front wheel is counter cw. Right? Look at video.

When would you know you need to adjust your valves? Is there a spec for number of miles driven, or is it just when the engine is running worse?

What does changing the front sprocket from a 14 to a 15 do as far as performance? Less power with higher speed?

The play in the front sprocket really threw me when I replaced it, there was significant back and forth play, but after talking to some Honda techs all of them said it was normal.

I have a 2008 Honda rebel with over 35.000 on engine. Drive it on the highway every day at 70 and 80 mph for over 100 miles ride to and back home you can not kill this motor ! wife said when it quits you can buy a new one wish me luck

If the transmission cover was over-cast a bit or misaligned, the lip will stick out too far and keep you from sliding it on. You can either drain the oil and pop the transmission cover, or shave down the lip to be closer to flush with the two surfaces. Then you can get it on.

Will this sound better than the original speakers even without an amp? People keep telling me without an amp it wont make much difference. I do have a new pioneer head unit too.

On my 1982 CM250C (similar, but predates a Rebel), I have .05 mm intake, .05 mm exhaust, according to a manual in multiple languages. Does anyone know if the US version is the same? Also, I might be wrong, but I wonder if the valve settings might be intake 0.6 and exhaust .10 mm , instead of a range of .06 to .10 for both, in this video at 7:01?

Then what about Roadmaster CD200? Is that same as Rebel?

I couldn't really see the torque wrench you were using but if it was the typical beam style torque wrench used on cars it's not really designed to measure low torque settings like 7 ft lbs. You would be better off using a smaller torque wrench with inch pound graduations and set your torque to 84" lbs which is equivalent to 7 foot lbs.

The way you hold the adjusters while tightening the lock nut is to use either use a tiny wrench designed to fit the square on top of the adjuster, or a pair of needle nose vise grips, while tightening the nut with a box end wrench. There is enough play in the threads that when you pull them tight by tightening the locknut, you may find the clearance is a bit loose. It may take 2-3 tries to get it just right.

Thanks man. My honda rebel 2012. Has 61,000 miles I put on it. It needs a valve adjustment bad. I've replaced almost everything else my self over the years.

We followed the instructions in this video after our Honda Rebel was making a horrible ratling sound from the valves and it worked perfectly! Our Rebel sounds perfect now! Thanks for this brilliant video.

Dunno how ya did it. My "fixing plate" in front of the front gear WILL NOT come off, I'm damned if I know why. Tried everything. Looks like I'll have to take a cutter to it, and mar the gear.

If the sprocket is very limited in space, is there no risk of it hitting the motor with the chain or causing any damage?
