I like that this is injecting some fun back into lego star wars. I sometimes feel like this theme is taken too seriously by some fans. Also the cowboy hat is very similar to Dave Filoni hat, as he voices chopper. 😂

I finished building Barad Dur and I believe Rivendell still wins the comparison battle. However, Barad Dur in person is amazingly impressive! So good. It may be my first set I’ll add a light kit. The only negative for Barad Dur is the minifigures. The Frodo and Sam figures were a very very lazy addition by the designers. With the price of this set they absolutely should have been redesigned to reflect how they looked at the end of The Return of the King.

Fantastic haul! I got the interceptor, gunship and the shin hati vs e wing set but I've been too busy to build them so I have the interceptor next to my desk while I'm studying as a means of reminding myself what I'm fighting for PS. I was one of the boys building/destroying the lightsabers on may 1st ✊

All you Lego Channel people seemed to be so easily impressed by this undersized, incomplete, overpriced set and it's poorly executed GWP, Why? Because they came out with a few new mini figures? There are better versions of all of these builds and custom mini figures better than what Lego produces. They should not do any large structures going forward, because they will be poorly executed by this company. They should stick to MF, Battle Packs, and maybe the random vignettes from Middle Earth. Lego is Lazy.

Doesn't beat Rivendell in my opinion but man, they came close. They just needed to add a few more figs and they could've surpassed it. Love that LOTR is coming back. I hope this leads to a more fleshed out line of smaller sets too.

I don't mind the size. Much. For me that's actually a good thing, as I've pretty much run out of space. I don't have an imperial Star Destroyer yet. I do have the First Order one and the Light Cruiser and I'm curious to see them all side by side. Yes, they won't be in scale with one another but then again, neither are they with my X-Wings. These are toys, and if the decreased size results in increased sturdiness, then I'm all for it. What I won't pay is the full price so I'll wait for a discount, as I always do. But that is a given with Lego.

I think it looks spectacular but bewteen this and Rivendell i think Rivendell displays a tad bit better. The gwp is levels above last years gwp.

Star wars and marvel have had enough attention TBH. Look at how many sets have been regurgitated for both themes it has gotten a bit ridiculous. There is so much potential for LOTR. To answer your question is it the best set ever for this theme - IMO no I don't think so. The figs are only ok with the exception of Sauron and Gothmog. I think that the Helms deep or Rivendell sets are way better. The figs in these sets are fantastic and are better than a lot of figures produced these days. it is awesome that the tower can be extended but a pain also as costs increase. The GWP is a pure marketing strategy but the set is woeful. The ring wraith only has minor changes. I will purchase the set but i am not happy about it as my plan was to wait for it to be reduced given the price but with the GWP I refuse to be chiseled by scalpers on eBay. In contrast to my rant I do like the thought process with the build details using the sliding joint detail and locking pin to prevent accidental collapse which is a strong risk with the Disney castle set.

Brilliant video buddy. This sounds like a day one for you buddy. I just think that At £400 is just expensive especially when you look at what other sets are being released on June 1st.

Allo and Stego are New

Although we never get to see the interior of Barad Dur in the films, I love what they've done with it. The contrast of colors for the front of the tower ensures you enjoy all the detail that went into the build instead of having it all just flat black. I am buying this day one. It is sublime.

What I would love most would be if Lego made anniversary sets for The Lost World: Jurassic Park and Jurassic Park III. Neither of the films got any sets (not counting the studio theme) so it would be nice to see some of their scenes recreated in Lego officially for the first time.

There are a lot of sets that I want especially in city (lego truck, excavator, crane) toxedo car the lunar rover. And there are many retiring sets I want hopefully I will be able to get them

Im a bit disappointed since I already have the first Star destroyer version they did back in 2008-9 issh I hopping for the death star but hey Im happy for people who never had one.

In 4 to 5 years, Lego sets will be like food, they won’t be getting smaller. They will be getting bigger again and that’s how they will smack on the larger price tags.
