After thinking about it, I really feel that there’s a big issue between the GM and Daboll. It’s unfortunate when their egos get in the way. I do think coach wanted Tyrod andthe GM said no and gave him Lock and he wasn’t happy. I also think, even though Jones, Has deficiencies Daboll did not play into his strengths. He wanted to call plays he called in Buffalo and have him throw it all over the place in the beginning of the season. Then the GM got him a WR instead of a QB who could’ve sat behind Jones, and started mid year like they did with Eli. It’s a cluster 😵‍💫

Do not always share same opinion in things (NYG related) but spot on, on the QB situation now, DJ contract handling… J. Shane…

If Shoen believe what he is saying that his draft picks are good, then he must fire Daboll. Daboll is rhe one incharge of utilizing and developing those players. So if the product in is good and the product out is bad he has to believe something in the process is wrong. If he sticks with Daboll then they both need to go before they pick another QB for the Giants to ruin

The players saying DJ gives them the best chance to win and being upset that he was benched means Lock is NOT playing better than DJ in practice. Lock probably played better than DeVito in practice but Daboll must think it's close enough to think DeVitos mobility and ability to run option, designed runs, scramble, and throw off schedule out weighs difference.

Drake Maye looks way more than”just a guy” agree to disagree. He has a terrible OL and zero receivers and has still looked pretty good.

Drew Lock hasn't looked good. DeVito as a rookie looked better than Jones, and he didn't even have a TE to utilize in his games. Waller was out until DeVito's last game, and that was the game where he dropped a perfect strike over the middle that should have been a TD.....Just remember Jeff Hostetler was a 3rd string QB, until he won the Giants their second SuperBowl.

Wow soo insightful.. Yeah you are shining a light on Daboll on Shonen. After listening to this bad management and decision coupled with now losing the trust in the players after all thats happened. Makes me wonder if these 2 can take us into the future. You all make a reputation that you can't trust this coach and general manager.

Gene, I believe Lock has an additional $3M in incentives. With the Giants having very little cap space - I believe they're under it by about $2.5M - they may need to keep Lock as a backup for financial reasons. Also, Lock didn't play very well during training camp, while DeVito showed some progress. By keeping Lock on the bench, they get a chance to determine if DeVito can be their QB2 for the seasons ahead. Also, if they play Lock and he plays poorly, it calls into question their ability to properly evaluate free-agent talent, because Lock is looking like a $5M mistake. The truth is Schoen and Daboll only had one decent draft in 3 years and free agency hasn't been that much better. They signed Jones to a $40M/yr 4 year deal with an escape clause after 2 years and they let go Bradberry, McKinney and Barkley, just to name a few (and there are other players who they should not have let go). Of course there is context to these decisions and reasons for them, but it's fair to say Schoen and Daboll are now making decisions for their jobs, not just to improve the team. In other words, if they get fired, I won't be surprised and, if they get to keep their jobs, I won't be surprised either, but they will be (or need to be) on a short leash next season. They need to have a good free agency and draft in 2025. Being close won't cut it next season, only wins will matter. Let's hope things work out for the best. Definitely a good one today. About the only thing I can say is the 3rd reason Devito over lock has to do with money and incentives and by going to Devito first they can make sure Lock doesn't hit them. Which as a fan and as players that would be a shitty way to run and organization but it is the NFL so its possible. As for Devito, I am with you that he is not a starting NFL QB, I have always called him Tebow 2.0. Great kid with a great story and wins a few games in spite of his physical limits as a QB. When a QB has to wind up like Dontrelle Willis to get a ball downfield he will get abused in the NFL once there is real tape on him. Its what the saints did last year to him. As I see it maybe he does prove me wrong and becomes a viable back up (which as you said would actually be good because I do love saving money) but if he shows he is really just a great story the cutlets craze can disappear in the offseason and we can get down to having functional QB play next year

The mere fact that Schoen spent 5 million dollars on Lock and that Devito is still on this team because he's a "fan favorite" proves this regime is a complete joke! Fire Schoen and Daboll and let them take Devito with them.

One of the reasons they’re starting Devito over Lock is because Lock has a lot of incentives in his contract, and should he reach those incentives they will owe him more money than the 5 mil they already paid him. I hope it all backfires, and they win a lot of games with Devito, and then we’ll see what they do about drafting a quarterback. You know what they say about karma😎

I think he plays looser and freer because that’s his personality. No way he would not fired the ball to Robinson or Nabers on that flee flicker. Doesn’t make me a Tommy fan, but I do think he has the low bar potential of being better than Jones.

Tommy might be good or he might be bad. He was picked to fill seats and quiet the fans. Possibly, also, they don’t like Lock. This tells us more about Schoen and the quarterback room than it does about Tommy.

DJ injury clause is for $23mil. DJ will get QB2 10mil + incentives. And chance to start if QB1 injury. DJ isn't risking integrity and opportunity for 13mil when he's already banked 107mil. Lock potential upside might be higher than DeVito, but DeVito is outplaying Lock in practice. They r not tanking. Lock is playing like he did in preseason and Eagles game. Lock lost QB competition. Giants are not tanking. And DeVito isn't getting the start bc of fans. DeVito scored more points than DJ last year and he will outscore DJ again this year. Especially with better line and Nabers. DJ NFL last 15.6 pts/game. DeVito should do better.

If DJ started against Tampa there might have been $5 tickets on stub hub and riots in stands. And then with short week U wouldn't want change QB, but NFL office might have insisted a competent QB be played, bc they don't want another game where DJ craps his pants on national TV.
