Whataboutism is fine when you're comparing the different nations. Sure you can try to objectively judge the morality of the different states, but at the end of the day the people of the inner sphere are going to have to live somewhere, so breaking down what makes each nation relatively good and bad is how you have to do it. Capellans started immoral wars sure, but also they're one of the least war-hungry nations in the setting. They might be 'evil', but still relatively 'good'.

If you haven’t read “Blood Will Tell” it’s a great book with insight on the Capellan state that makes it much more nuanced and interesting.

WOW! You do the BEST BT battle reports, Frozen! I could watch these all day!

Now THIS is how you do a battle report!!! The camera ALWAYS stays up close and personal on the game board and mechs! No distance shots from across the street or focusing more on the players rather than the game itself... Also, all the talk is game focused and saying what's happening, happened or going to happen as opposed to "who was seen with who at the theater last week or what so-n-so wants for dinner tonight". That crap takes me clear out of the game... The hit and miss effects are an especially NICE touch! LOVE THIS!!! MORE PLEASE!!!

I enjoy fielding mixed compositions of armor, air, and mech. I enjoy EWAR and ECM and other forms of support. I prefer subterfuge and guerrilla tactics over 'show of force' and 'shock and awe'. I like Ravens and Catapults. I learned that this is all Capellan stuff and immediately had an identity crisis. Seriously they are absolutely awful in lore for the most part.

Observations: + no distracting music ✅ + well framed static camera shots ✅ + ‘moving/flying camera’ avoided ✅ + all the math offscreen ✅ + showed the movement and then shooting results ✅ + simple, tight damage animations ✅ + simple, understandable round report ✅ This was really clean, easy to follow, and enjoyable to watch. Great job, man! Probably the best BT battle report I’ve seen.

To touch on the point at around @7:45 the Capellans wanting to sign the treaty. That could be seen as the best move of a very powerhungry house. at the time they are the thinnest stretched in terms of everything from economy to territory. i think its safe to say if the other houses agree to fight in less of a total war scenario then it benefits a house that cant fight that style of war for much longer.

I would like to say congrats for doing something I have always wanted to do. My only concern was your movement was not correct for a lot of the mechs. But still a great game.

I think they had a good strategic reasoning in the invasion but miscalculated taurian independence. a mutual defense pact like what they would do in the future was a better option.

This batrep is definitely one of the better ones for sure, love how you guys show everything you're doing including how you move. Helps amateur players like me make sure I'm doing things right too haha.

Seriously, your maps are wearing out? Buy a sheet of thin plexiglass and cover them during play. That old wargamer trick goes back to the Sixties, and it works just as well today as it did when we were pushing around stacks of counters in SPI board games. Even a big sheet winds up weighing about the same as mounted cardboard maps would, and it's lighter than one made out of mousepad material. Little more difficult to transport, but it's a one-time investment that will protect every map or board you play on for the rest of your life.

That was nice of you to extend some understanding to the older lore. As a Mechwarrior of a certain age, I came of age in an era where WW II veterans were hale and still knowing of the perils of going All The Way. The Cold War had made a mockery of the desired world peace, but at the same time nobody wanted to bring out the nukes and destroy half of humanity to totally destroy Capitalism/Communism. Most of the time. As Queen said, we're just waiting for the hammer to fall. A lot of the younger fans in military fiction fields don't understand going 100% on the opposition if it leads to total victory. It's cool, that ignorance is the result of the Cold War ending without WW III going down. Battletech is still realistic in understanding about going all out to win....and then having to pick up the pieces when victory proved elusive and there was only exhaustion and loss of life and the benefits of advanced spacefaring civilization in many places.

They're no better or worse than anyone else in the settings. I'd like to see more deep dives on some of the Periphery nations

im confused by the terrain. you are using the 3d terrain, but also the printed map terrain? the first move of the commando 5:05 made no sense to me. he went up three times just to be on a level 2? or is all the 3d terrain 1 level higher than the representation.

You got a few rules a bit wrong, but overall a fun watch. Ammo explosions are always a dangerous possibility with ammo dependent mechs.

Just watched Your battle report. It was overall very well put together and enjoyable. One suggestion - when doing damage summary maybe try adding damage accumulated over turns and providing it in "x out of y" format? That way anyone would be able to instantly notice how much a given 'mech is damaged and how many armor/internal structure points it has left? Other than that it was excellent :)

When moving up or down levels it takes 1 additional MP per level change. So a level change of 2 would take 3mp's.
