That's awesome! I would definitely try to keep that model around for as long as you can. Paperwork for older stuff is getting a little harder to come by. I wish IBM still made the ThinkPad line instead of being sold to Lenovo, I feel that Lenovo has made the newer line of devices a little unreliable. I'm basing that opinion off of my repair experience with the newer models.

Very nice! I had almost the same spec in a T440p I had a while ago. That T60 you had was quite a gem.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear. If you are willing, I would recommend getting the W541 trackpad vs the W540's "clunk pad" trackpad. The difference is night and day. I did a similar mod to my T440p when I still had it.

@@fazedawaymachinesonline I suspect that need will become obvious to me as I experience it for myself. I've already noticed it was a bit odd... 👍😁 But it's not a major concern since I often use a wireless mouse.

Thank you! I have though about getting a T61p but usually the cost of them is way more than what I want to pay for one. I have definitely been contemplating selling my X230, maybe it'll stick around for a little longer.

It shouldn't be different where the charger plugs into. I've used the the big barrel style on all of my dell laptops since 2004 machines to as late as some 2021 dell models. The big barrel style Dell DC jacks have always been the same size. The only way that they vary is how the DC jack is plugged into the laptops motherboard (the white connector). It is vastly different from inspirons and latitudes. Most XPS and Inspirons will use the smaller style barrel DC jack.

Thank you! I would say it’s rarer model. It’s a lower end of the 700 series and I wouldn’t imagine that the 300 series is too sought after. Especially if it’s still working, many of those models in that line had several issues when coming off the assembly line. I’d give it a 7/10 on my personal rarity scale

It solely depends if you need it to be portable everyday. T480 is a lot slimmer and get better battery life, the T440p is more of a desktop powerhouse and it is also upgradable with cpu. If I had the chance to get a T480 I’d still take the T440p till it goes dead.

If you’re model is configured with one it will have it either on the lower right hand corner of the display bezel for tablet models or near the touch pad on the palmrest for standard models

Oh nice, most of these laptops with the nvidia video card like mine have either all failed or are experiencing end of life issues which I think is what is happening to yours if it won’t turn on. The Vostro line wasn’t intended to last forever and no machine ever has a guarantee on how long it will last. Maybe the USB port could be an issues but in my finding, either the port won’t flat out work or the machine will keep erroring with a usb message that says something along the lines of too much voltage or a generic error. I would try and see if you can get the dvd drive out of the laptop, it should have a paper clip sized pin hole to manually eject it. I’m not sure it there is already one on the case but I would give that a try. Good luck!

@@fazedawaymachinesonline thanks for your speedy reply! Someone else gave me the tip about the paper clip hole as well, but I don’t see one. It’s just for inserting like into a sleeve, no hole to pop anything out (I think you called it a slot drive) have I missed a little hole somewhere?… 🤔

@@beccismith4454 You’re welcome ☺️, if there’s not one in the plastic bezel most likely you’ll have to take out the dvd drive which isn’t that bad to do. Once it’s out there is a small pin hole, push on it with a paper clip or mechanical pencil but preferably paper clip and it should mechanically release unless the mechanical eject is broken, give that a try and see if it works. Other than that I would say replace the drive, might be a little harder to find since it’s a slot loading drive

I 100% agree. Looking past the issues with the built in whitelists, it is a really great machine. I might mod the heat sink or add one for a gt730 video card model. I’d personally pick the 4712mq, I’d rather have battery over performance in the machine. I have upgraded to a 1tb Samsung EVO. I don’t need 1TB but why not lol. I’d love to go further in modding but I’m currently using this as my daily driver. I might buy another to tinker around with bios flashing and full nitty gritty mods. It’s more of a time issue than anything but the T440p has been an excellent daily driver since posting this video. Thank you also for the suggestions, I’ll be sure to brings those up in the next video!

I know, these machine are pretty tough as I’ve tried to shock one but it still wouldn’t break. Plus I always static discharge myself before handing any electronics. I’ve made my mistakes. I saw you’re comment about what I use it for and somehow it disappeared. I use it for general use such as email, teamviewer sessions on occasion for work, and writing documents in office. As of right now no plans to video edit or heaving gaming, just a daily driver laptop

@@fazedawaymachinesonline I understand,But it's always the time when you least expect something to go wrong ,That's awesome you tested these machines for shock,And I got one 2 years ago great laptop,I have the same specs minus the ram ,I just ordered a charger some reason it wouldn't charge so I am hoping it's just the charger ,Also forgive me I'm on my back up phone if you see any errors

@@MrSonic731 I totally agree. The dc jack is replaceable on these machines. If you’re still getting no charging with a new charger then you can try replacing the dc jack where the charger plugges into. After that, if the issue still occurs it may be a motherboard issue

I love the T430 as well. As far as the Bluetooth, is it not allowing new Bluetooth devices? Sorry for the late response, Christmas season has been robbing me of all my time.

hey tech guy thanks for getting back to me ..no apology needed youngun..my t430 s bluetooth is turned off ..doesnt search at all .simply says switch on bluetooth ..lenovos site cant help..im really not tooo worried ..it would be good though..using plug ins atm thanks agin for getting back to me sandy

@@sandymckinnon3595 Do you get any wireless networks? Go to device manager and right click and uninstall your wireless and bluetooth card under the network adapters section. Once you do that restart the laptop. If that doesn't work try a new user profile. If that doesn't work then i would replace your wifi card with another one and see if that fixes the issue. If you have trouble with bluetooth after taking all those steps the card that the wireless network and blutooth are on usually go bad. Hope this helps

I've never seen a light on mine since I had owned it. It may be the light ring has worn out. I'm not too sure on a replacement for the newer years since they changed a couple of things

I had to jiggle the key in the switch to let it start

I had to really twist on the key for it to start. Like a flick twist of the key because the contacts were so worn out. It got bad enough I almost couldn't start the car at a gas station. Good thing the part wasn't that bad. Hope this helps.

As long as it's just the switch, you wont need to reprogram anything

It's only if your changing the entire lock cylinder and key, you will need to reprogram the new key to the car

@@fazedawaymachinesonline thanks for the video, was really helpful! Got mine changed and the car starts fine now! Like you, I had a lot of trouble trying to slide that piece off. I ended up twisting it off as well. But there's an issue that has popped up I changed the switch. After I take my key out of the ignition, the key sensor still beeps as if the key is still in. Can't figure out why, I might've damaged some kind of key detector sensor while trying to put the steering column cover back on. Edit: Fixed the key detector issue.

@@EMW_Music I’m glad to hear! On occasion I’d have an issue with the key Immobilizer but they key started falling apart so it’s my guess it was just the key getting worn out from use. If you have a green car with a key imprint on it on the dash, that’s the key immobilizer. Usually it happens when I had the steering wheel cocked at a weird angle while I was trying to start the car. Just wiggle the steering wheel and it should go away (just a tip if it happens)

I don't have the machine any longer or I could have told you. Google Lenovo x220 oem WIFI card. It should be an intel. These lenovo do have a whitelist on their WIFI cards so be careful on what network card you get. Windows 10 also sucks, with every fresh install i have done it keeps losing the driver until I delete and reinstall it on device manager. Try resetting the winsock settings, using cmd type in "netsh winsock reset" restart and see if there is any changes. Hopefully I didn't reply to late, Good Luck!
