Iaido Gold. 5 years, 5 times. 居合道。五年間で、五回優勝。
第三十六回中部地区居合道競技大会 優勝 2012年9月16日
These are my winning kata at the 36th Annual Chubu Iaido Taikai (Central Japan Iaido Competition) held on September 16th, 2012.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, my success would not be possible if it were not for the kindness and patience of others.

In this competition I certainly wasn't at my best. My feeling was somewhat different and the power just wasn't there. This was the first time I had not placed in the medals at the Aichi competition and I think I was lucky to make it to the playoff. As for the winning kata from the three of us...well, I'll let you decide. 今回、なんか変な感じだった。皆さん、これが僕のベストの形ではないのを直ぐ分りましたでしょうか。決勝戦まで行って、ちょこっとびっくりして良かったが、決...

I finished second for the second time in Aichi, this time in the 4th Dan division. This was the Aichi Iaido Tournament held on March 27th, 2011. I have now gone bronze-bronze-silver-silver at the last four Aichi Iaido Tournaments and while unable to improve my placing this time, I am pleased I didn't drop out of the medals completely. A huge thank you to all of my friends, family and of course ...

I finished second in the 3rd Dan division and took home a silver medal from the Aichi Iaido Tournament held on March 22nd, 2010. I had won bronze two years in a row at the Aichi Iaido Tournament and so I was very pleased to have improved my placing. The winner scored 24.9 points while I only scored 24.8. He advanced to 4th Dan at this competition 6 months ahead of me. I have high hopes for the ...

Not a good day for noto either, the lines I was making weren't nice and straight like they should have been. Few other things too... Let me know what you think I should work on.

    Subscribed! I have always been fascinated by Japan and it's history/culture. I have only recently discovered that there are classes in iaido, kobudo and kenpo offered in my area and I am so excited to begin my lessons. Your video is very captivating to watch, the motions you use portray elegance as well as a deadly nature. Very cool to see! Thank you for posting and I hope this wasn't too forward!

    Hi. I would like to shre the following with you. The other day I was watching some of your uploads again and was (again) struck by your iai, especially the performed seme and overal zanshin, I found quite impressive. And it happened to be that it became some sort of inspiritation for me. During my last training session I experimented with what I saw you doing and it kindy hit me there. It felt very calm and almost gentle to do it in this motion.Thank you for your sharing. kind regards, Alexander

    Hi euxneks! Thanks a lot for watching and commenting. Sorry for the delay in answering your question. I am a member of the ZNIR and as far as I know, all of the competitions I have posted videos of thus far also fall within ZNIR even though they cover smaller areas ie. Aichi prefecture and Chubu, or "central Japan".

  • @madyui
    @madyui 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Thank you very much! The flooring where these competitions are held is quite a bit stickier than the lovely old wood of our dojo so it can be a little taxing at times to perform smooth movements, but it's the same for all competitors so I just focused on my hara and did what I could (^ ^)

    @MrJabber22 Thanks for watching MrJabber22. I'm sorry but there's no need to tell other people what they may or may not ask, especially when the question is polite and wasn't directed to you. This is a public forum and ryoma455 did nothing wrong by asking about the ZNIR. I'm not sure why you felt the need to address his question to me in such a way, but please refrain from posting silly threats. It doesn't achieve anything and you can't very well slap through your monitor, can you? (^ ^)

    God how I miss this after all these years. I used to study as a student under Sensei Scott Irey, before he moved down to Seattle to teach there, when he was still doing small classes (4-5 students) in Everett & Marysville, WA. And I second the 2 year old comment about the wooden floors - they make me very nervous. I still have a small scar on my thumb from screwing up on a Gohon Me resheath due to slipping. After that, no more live iaito allowed except Sensei.
