Welcome to another of my channels featuring, hard to find, action from the great man, Seve Ballesteros.
I will try and add to this channel as much as possible to keep the memories of this wonderful golfer alive.

A little glimpse of slimline Seve in Oz, suffering in the last round with a 77 after shooting 73 ,71, 73 , coming in at 11th place after hitting 3 OB's on the 12th.

A very young Seve, 21, came a respectful tied 16th in his 1st US Open. Amazing 2nd shot on 17th is a highlight and Peter Alliss's comment that we will seeing a lot of Seve in the future, was bang on.. Also a big thank you to Conrad Nagel.

or 'David Gilford wins vital point with the expert man management of partner Seve'..you decide. Also, Seve's famous line on the 1st tee to David was 'I want you to know that you are the best player here'.. priceless Big shout out to Pepster who has the whole clip of both players.

Unapologetically, a look at young Seve's shots only, during one of those great Pro-Celebrity matches in the 70's and 80's. Highlights are: huge drives, majestic 2 iron, wonderful gripping chip and Seve getting advice from Lee Trevino on how to conduct oneself in the USA.

Tied 6th after the 3rd round, Seve ran out of steam on the back nine and fell back to tied 12th. The winner coming in on the rails was another dearly departed, Payne Stewart. On a side note, this was the last cut at a major, Arnold Palmer made, aged 60!

Seve playing well in the early season in the USA is usually a good omen for things to come like in 1988! Freddie too good this time and Seve finishes 3rd.

Talent on display here is frightening
Can’t imagine how great Jack would be with today’s equipment
Thanks for this upload do you have any more of the BBC highlights from 1974?
Both genuinely great guys had the pleasure of crossing paths with both.
What incident? The no-incident incident?
This is Steve Melnyk as the host on “Golf’s One In A Million Shots” ….do you know where I can find it again?…..PLEASE!! 🙏
Was sat on the fringe for this playoff as a 14 year old the approach was unreal 💪👌
I had the privilege of being Dickie Henderson’s caddie in this match, a wonderful comedic afternoon it was too, along with watching the master Seve at close quarters. 15 years later I Interviewed Seve on 340 Television at Alhaurin GC Southern Spain that Seve designed .
2 minutes 4 seconds, and we don't get to see the last putt? WTF?
would be the best shot of all time if it wasn't a mishit
USGA should hav stuck to persimmon wood heads
Not a professional golfer, but that has to be the gutsiest, and one of the best, shots I’ve ever seen. Combined with the putt prior? He’s the man, sorry Tiger.
Nicklaus putted the ball, received his check and took the ford home, where his Barbara had prepared a nice pie.
I was there! My dad had tickets to the stands on the 18th and two people dropped out so he took me and my mum. Memorable day!
I was hoping that ball found the drink .big TOM!! Had another headache!!!!
Sadly missed
It was a monster drive and was wind aided to some degree. But what truly aided that shot was the ground. Having played St. Andrews I can attest to the fact that when dry, the ground is very hard and a person can get unbelievable roll.
No telling what Jack could do in today’s game, scary!
Why didn't they roll the ball back in 1970?! 🤦🏼♂️
I still have a 1-iron in my bag.
Grizzly Adams DID have a beard 00:43
rubber band ball...persimmon head...Tiger you're great but you couldn't do that
When you think the size of the sweetspot on that one iron is probably less the circumference of the top part of a golf tee, it makes it all the more amazing. Golden Bear is the real GOAT.
The GOAT Playing a 43.5 Inch Persimmon "WOOD" Driver with Leather Grips! Pure Class!
Here's one salient face in the comparison between Jack and Tiger. JACK WAS MUCH LONGER!! Look at the rummage sale equipment he was playing with. A persimmon wood and a balata golf ball. Yet, he bombs the ball 360 yards over the green on this hole!! HOLY HANNAH!! Little wonder, when legendary golf instructor Jack Grout first saw Jack for the first time, he stated, "Please God don't let me ruin him!!" In fact, Jack was so powerful he would shatter the inserts on his driver 3 to 4 times a year. Put the young Jack in a time machine with today's equipment, and NOBODY could compete with him. Like Thanos with the Infinity stones. Unbeatable.
360 yards on a links course with wind behind, isn't especially impressive, even with the older equipment especially for the greatest ever golfer. There was a much nicer feel to a wooden headed driver and I played more consistently with that than the metal headed drivers of today. I've seen friends drive over 400 on a Links course a few times and also once on a Parkland course. Hell I've seen a pal thin a bunker shot over 200 yards and hit a 8 iron 260 yards! I've also hit driver and two 3 woods and still been short on a heath-land course in Scotland par 4 which was 440 yards with the wind against. It's ALL about the conditions with wind being a major factor!
This was a year before I started watching golf at age 10, so I missed this. 350+ with a steel shafted persimmon driver and wound balata ball. Incredible. Now obviously it was downwind in VERY windy conditions. Listen to the wind in this clip! Nobody could have done that on a still day. But when he wanted to be, he was so much longer that pretty much everyone else of his generation except maybe Tom Weiskopf, or Jim Dent, the long drive king of the era. He generally kept it all under control, however, playing well within himself, and managing his game to play very low risk golf. Every now and again, however, when he felt he needed it and was swinging well enough, he turned it loose. Lee Trevino once said that they were all probably lucky Jack didn't do that more often. 😉
My favorite shot.
What a swing.
Stunning
I love a golf course can be described as 'dangerous'!
That club has a sweet spot the size of a pencil eraser and he absolutely flushed it.
Dangerous? C'mon. We're talking about Pebble Beach, not Omaha Beach. Try not to be so sensationalist.
How about those gems in that parking lot!
218 yards is a 7 iron today
Biden aced that hole that year.
I hit my fellow player with my one iron once... and then hit him another four times before he managed to scramble away.
Only a small percentage of Jack's career was recorded on film. He played so well, so often, even when he wasn't winning, he was never far away. His record in majors, and not just the ones he won, was phenomenal. If he was in his prime today with modern equipment? Scary thought.
Far too many adverts on this.
Still after he is no longer with us 😔😔🙏🙏His legacy will long after we are gone. Was a true master of the game like no other😊😊⛳⛳
ジャンボ軍団3人揃い踏み❗
Nicklaus was great, only Tiger was able to surpass Jack.
To think that Jack Nicklaus was once an honored sportsman respected by everybody, but now he's known as just another dumb Trumper. What a sad fall.
Your comment is what is really sad
he is American and can like and support whoever he chooses. His freedom.
When they told me I get a free drop, I did. 💩
Awesome. Tiger Woods would have probably hit a 4 iron and might have over shot it.
GOAT.
I'm more impressed by the narrator. They were infinitely better back then.
The Champ of all time! Seve!
What are two words you will hear on a golf course but never in a whorehouse?
That wind added at least 65 yds.
