Is the Berghaus Cheviot 2 the cheapest and best value 4-season tent?
Join me as I take you to a very windy and wet wild camp in the Peak District National Park, where I test out the 4-season Berghaus Cheviot 2. A solid 4 season tent that I intend to take on many more wild camps despite the weight.
I will likely give this tent away in a future video like the OEX Phoxx tent, but first, I'll film more videos with it. Watch the video to find out my thoughts on the tent.
If you want more details, then check out the photos on my Instagram jamie__outdoors

    In my view from my experience, tent's like that are plainly for carrying as a place to sleep for the night while on the trail. Nothing more. They'll keep you warm and dry, and out of sight. Yet as a living space - nope.

    Hi Jamie. I just found your video on making a pull out bed. Did you have cushions made for sitting on and leaning on? If so, how do you know how wide they should be do that when you pull the bed out first making a bed, what sizes are they? I would like them to fit when in the seating position, but then be the right size when I pull it out to make the bed. I have seen a few of these like yours making the frame, but then you gave the seating and bed cushions to consider. So how did you sort that out??? Cheers

      I was actually really lucky. I had my partners mum make them for me. She offered and I couldn’t refuse as making cushions is not my forte. I did however buy a double mattress made out of foam and then cut it up into various cushion sizes for her to work from.

      I'm going to respond first with I am no expert in the van conversion game. This was my first and only camper so far. There's a lot of information online about making a vapour barrier. But honestly I read so much information that was for and against it. I just ended up going with my gut and the 50% of people who put it straight on the metal. I don't live in it and its my main vehicle. So it doesn't get mouldy or too condensated.

Maybe add something to the ceiling later, and yes the van is my work van so wouldn't be adding anything to the floor but I am also looking at the best way to use it for odd nights away with things I can easily put in and take out. It's a great stealthy tent, but simply too small for anything more than a weekend! I took mine bikepacking for 5 days through some remote parts of Wales. After a few days I was sick of not being able to sit up inside, you literally can't do anything but lie down. Getting undressed and dressed is a real chore, space inside in minmal! On the plus side, it's super stealthy, warm, dry, fantastically stable in high winds, zero condensation, and the two vestibules are quite generous for such a small tent! I'm off to Wales again in September on the bike for a week. This time I'm taking the Phoxx 2, for an extra 400gms, the extra space is extremely welcome! These tents are brilliant, even when compared to tents costing 5x as much!

      you can fit in it. buy you can't sit up in it or change. it just get in, turn around, sleep. nothing but mat, sleep bag and maybe a small bag will fit with you. enough space for a backpack in the vestibule. i'm trying to sell mine and going for a tent i can sit up in. if it rains, you're trapped. but it does stop rain and midges.

    I totally forgot to record my final verdict. So here it is. I thought for what I paid for the tent the quality was phenomenal. Small, light weight cheap and cheerful. The only big draw backs were that I couldn’t sit up in it and when you set it up you need to be under a tarp if it’s raining. Otherwise you will be getting wet.

    • @jamieoutdoors
      @jamieoutdoors 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@rafaemma so I didn’t have enough time to do the electrics myself or mainly I didn’t have time to do the research. So I made a decision to just pay for someone to do it and at the same time got them to make me a ply kit to carpet line and put up. I think the ply kit with the carpet lining would actually be really easy to do yourself as it just screws into the top of the van. But, as I work full time and work another part time role I figured I wouldn’t have time to also put energy into this too.
