I'm Michelle Visser, Simple Living Mentor, creator of the Simple Doesn't Mean Easy podcast, & author of Sweet Maple. I'm on a mission to help folks simplify life.
When we moved from the heart of suburbia to a 200-year-old farmhouse in a rural corner of New England, I realized that living a little more simply can be done in small steps, no matter where you live or what your story is.
After a ton of mistakes -- with kombucha making, maple syrup making, real food cooking, and homesteading -- I realized that most of the things I was learning to do--from baking with wild yeast, to making my own floral-infused syrups and sugars---any one can do, with the right encouragement.
While Simple Doesn't Mean Easy, it's always worth the effort.
SUBSCRIBE RIGHT NOW, join the #SoulyRestedTribe & let's do some simplifying. Together.

can you make a small 1 1/2 lbs dough in the Bosch?
YES!! Sun Gold tomatoes! I am not a big fan of raw tomatoes either but those Sun gold helped me enjoy a raw tomato!
🎉
have you tried Evolvh? I'm super impressed.
I always thought that if something was to be considered organic, it had to be grown at least 40 miles from any combustion engine...which means any farm using machinery is automatically NOT organic....
There's been ALOT of heavy metals being sprayed in our skies so yes, heavy metals are in everything, even if it's marked as organic. JS🫂❤️
Hey hey!
I am currently rendering my first batch of tallow for skin care and soap. This was the most extensive and informative conversation about both lard and tallow. Thank you so much for sharing.
i'm so glad it was helpful! How did you soap and balms turn out??
@@MichelleVisser it's still in progress...the first batch is now on it's second simmer and then strain to purify. I'll let you know.
I cook like my mom and grandma, my daughter does the same thing, it’s so easy if you’re used to cooking with whatever you have, probably just because I made things over and over, so you can get the ingredients you need for the recipes you feel comfortable with! ❤❤❤
Never heard of shoe fly pie?🥧 😮❤
interesting! It's a very popular dessert in the mid-atlantic area
My mom and grandma made us not past, but noodles…so delicious 🤤 I don’t even have a pasta machine, they just made it kinda of like pie crust but not the same…don’t get how to explain. I love chicken and noodles my favorite or beef and noodles! ❤
yum!

I'm so glad!! Did you choose a mill?
@@MichelleVisser c'est celui ci que je choisirais mais j'attends d'avoir un peu plus de sous...
@@monpeyssenemmanuelle6572 a very good choice and genuinely WORTH the wait. I now own this mill (I actually now own 4 mills--crazy, I know...) and the Mockmill Lino 200 is by far my personal favorite.
A "grain" of rice
UGH... why does the simplest word elude me sometimes!?? YES!
I remember my mother’s pies so fondly. To me nothing compares to a lard based crust as well as biscuits!!!
agree. and i will never make a pie as good as mom's

Love your content!! 🙌
awww thank you. comments like this seriously make my day and keep me going :) Glad you're here!
we don't eat lard which is a pork product ..so beef tallow, lamb, goat.... thats what we need
FYI - I was going to order from just ingredients, popcorn salts and Electrolyte Samples, and got the message "SOULYRESTED discount code isn’t valid for the items in your cart". Very disappointed.
Bosch has 1.000 W.
😅
Love your sun porch and yummies. What is your recommendation? On... I'm using date sugar and coconut sugar instead of white bleached sugar. I usually use the same amount as I would a white sugar. Thanks
I love both of those options. I tend to prefer coconut sugar's taste, unless i want a caramel "vibe" and i think date syrup and date sugar deliver that beautifully (like in my salted caramel hot chocolate :) ) You might like this article: soulyrested.com/the-best-sugar-to-use-and-what-sugar-to-avoid-with-david-stelzer-of-azure/ (there's a yt video linked in there too)
I have been looking into dehydrators. Grateful for this information and opportunity 🙏🏼
What a great video! I render both down for a lot of our body products including soap a d I just love it. I fry in both buy pastries, lard all the way.

No we never know how many kids we'll have, we just try to plan based on our highest numbers in past years and kids seem to be super happy with about 20-ish eggs per kid.
