PARADISE CAVE... Exploring This Untouched Beauty in VIETNAM. A Journey Like No Other
In the heart of Central Vietnam and in the middle of the jungle in Phong Nha National Park, we discovered this magical wonder of a 400 million year old cave and one of the biggest in the world. I Went to PRISON in VIETNAM.

I had to get away from the Old Quarter madness of Hanoi for a while, so I went to prison instead. Not just any old prison, but the most notorious and violent in Vietnam's history and made more infamous during the Vietnam/American war during the 60's and 70's, where the American senator John McCain was captured and tortured daily for 4 years.

Vietnamese locals out enjoying the street foods on offer and generally relaxing after the chaos of the motorbike mayhem during the day. As I explore the local backstreets of the famous Old Quarter district of Vietnam's capital, Hanoi, I was shocked to still see how the customers food is prepared in the modern era. Then trying to dodge to masses of motorbikes coming straight towards you and the local rip off merchants, it's a must to be on your guard at all times.

Exactly. No tourists know about it. Us hardy backpackers do a lot of research of the off the beaten track places to go. And Dave, trust me you will be blown away at what I found there. Never seen anything like it in the world. A natural phenomenon that is over 400 million years old. The Vietnamese people kept it a secret from the outside world until 2 British explorers stumbled upon them in 2009.

Enjoy. Even though prices of everything have doubled since Covid, it is still the cheapest country in the world. Stick to the Old Quarter and sit outside a bar or cafe and just people watch the activity, you will be amazed how life operates in Hanoi.

Szimpla is literally one big tourist trap

Me neither, never again. Would you believe that somebody was jumping up and down on the glass floor to see if it would break.
Had a very good, and then very dissapointing experience only days apart at this place. Me and some friends found this place on our first day in the city, and we enjoyed the traditional Hungarian food so much we had to come back the morning after heavy drinking. On our revisit, they forgot our order and refused to refund or reduce the price of the meal, even though it was stone cold and of far far less quality than the previous visit. Such a shame as it was night and day between our visits. I encourage others to make their own judgements and opinions.
That was real bad luck. I only went to Drum Cafe in the evenings and had great service every time. Maybe the daytime staff weren't quite awake when you went in the morning.

Great video Andrew, Budapest has rapidly become one of my favourite cities in Europe to spend a few days in before heading off to other climbs. Whizz air use it as a major hub so you can get to some pretty out of the way places from there which is why I guess you were there. Safe travels!
I was there to catch a train to Belgrade, but the line is under major reconstruction, so that idea was abandoned, as explained in previous video. But lots more videos to come as I make my way to Vietnam.
