This might be a bit depressing but I do speak as from my Tribe. The Crow Nation. As native Americans, we understand the existence and importance of Medicine. It is not witchcraft, it is not an aesthetic, they are gifts and tools given to us by creator that becomes A PART OF US. I was told many times, there was a time where crow mothers did anything for their children. Anything. Christian women went to the priest and said, “they’re going witchcraft.” So these religious fanatic leaders went to these women and said, “get rid of your witchcraft or we’ll send your children away.” Children are gifts from god, closer to creator and such. The greatest fear for the crow mothers was to lose their children. So they’d do anything! Anything! To ensure the safety for their kids even giving up their God Given Gifts. These women took their medicine bundles and buried them in the mountains on my reservation. Letting the fanatics win. And it wouldn’t matter because by the train load, children were sent to Carlisle Indian Boarding school. Many of which died and never made it home. Many which were beaten, lied to, and forced to believe in a CRUEL GOD. Native Women are farrr beyond strong. Devotion and love of a Native Woman, rather it be Crow, Kiowa, Northern & Southern Cheyenne, Lakota, Dakota, Nakota, Hidatsa, Apache, Blackfoot, Cree, or Shoshone. That Love knows sacrifice.
