The Beery Boater + The BB Off Piste
United Kingdom
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 19 มี.ค. 2020
The Beery Boater is all about my quest to build and fitout a 57-foot narrowboat with a view to eventually cruising around the UK’s 2,200 miles of the canal & river network. It would be great to have you onboard! 😉
The BB Off Piste revolves around rambling, droning, green issues, fairgrounds, canal walks, allotment visits, town tours, festival drop-ins, meeting interesting people, chatting to fascinating folk, exploring quirky, off-the-cuff human-interest type topics, and producing mini documentaries, along with the occasional stop-off at a café or pub.
Drone footage can be seen on my dedicated drone channel www.youtube.com/@Viewfromadrone
“Meet The Boss” is where I literally do just that. I find a company, find the boss, and meet them for an informal chat about their day-to-day life. Simple as that.
“3 minutes” is a sub-series where I go somewhere, meet someone, or do something, for about three minutes... usually! ;-)

It's so nice , they utilise the square for many things now, back in the day it was just a place for a quick sit down when your feet were killing you from walking around the town shopping !!! Did you buy anything ? If Sneinton market is still going I would love to see it unless you've already been there as I am catching up with all your past videos...
It is good that the square is utilised nowadays, but I miss seeing the grass and trees. No, I didn’t buy anything; it was a last minute decision to visit. Sneinton Market is technically still going but the last time I went, there was only three stalls on a Saturday. I think the combination of Covid and many folks using one-stop shops and online outlets such as the likes of Amazon, have all contributed to the at one time much loved Sneinton Market losing itself. ☹ There are a few shots of the market in the later part of this video, but I do intend to go down there again to record the place for social history. th-cam.com/video/zaUV11nszVc/w-d-xo.html
@@TheBeeryBoater Thanks for that, just watched the video,Sneinton is unrecognisable to me, shame about the Market but they are all slowly dying but there was plenty of little shops around there for browsing ....
Great work mate 🎉🎉🎉
grew up in Nottingham I remember going to the goose fair. rip to all the goldfishes I won but they never lasted a week.
Yeh, I remember winning a few goldfish down Goosey. ;-)
and ill quote "ive no chance of winning ive not entered have I " hahahahahah 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 love it
Apparently, you’ve got to be in it, to win it!!! It made me laugh when I walked past the “any odd number wins” raffle-prize stall, and the operator announces to this couple with what I assume was their primary school child, “oh dear, you nearly won that… you was only one number out!” 😊
@@TheBeeryBoater haha classic its just made me laugh as well 😁🤣😁
its another great video to your goose fair collection its add everything from superior 4k viewing to laughs n fun by your self,, thanks for your efforts youve not only done the people of Nottingham and the showmen proud with your videos but your self as well 👍
What a nice thing to say. Thank you.
As some keen viewer pointed out, it was 2024, and not 2014 as the caption said… I must learn to type, and remember to proof read in future videos! ☹
The whole fair is so different when it starts to get dark ! there are some impressive rides, I thought you were going on a few ? At the start of this video you put the date as 2014 and I really had to think what year it was !!!!
Whoops! Must be my old age and forgetfulness kicking in! And I never noticed! I did go on a few rides on Saturday night but couldn’t find my camera harness, but hopefully will do soon as I need it for this coming weekend.
Nice vid and skilfully avoiding rhe studld youtube copy right

hey it's me the kid who I found you on goosfair vloging, I just wanna say keep up the great work your videos are stunning 😆👍 and hope to see you again! :D
Nice one. Glad you like them.
What a great idea to cater for the special needs people..
Sorry but how the fk did a belt stand get on the goosefair my god be handbags suitecases next year. And clothing. Be selling carpets soon
0:45 hey it’s me
Hi! Hull's loss is Hucknall's gain. But this is very off piste, not a boat nor a pint to be seen. Still nice vid. Bye!
My boat was at Beeston. I went back on Sunday for one of Tony's fry-ups. Perfect.
Until I watched this Vid I didn't know the Fair would last 10 days this year. and that It's the third time since the pandemic that the event's had an extended run. The fair usually starts on the first Wednesday in October and closes on the Sunday. But, this year's fair started on Friday, September 27 & will end on Sunday, 6th of October. Odd to see the trees so green. Bye!
As far as I can remember it always used to start on the first Thursday in October as a three-day event. Then it was extended to four days (can’t remember when), and in 2009 it was extended from four to five days, and then ten-days as you mantion.
loved this vid
its another great video in 4k which ive enjoyed it was very quiet as youve described for opening day I remember when the fair open for 3 days and the bells was rang at midday it was rammed ive throughly enjoyed all your videos of the fair so far and ill defiantly be tuning into any more you may or not put on .thank you
Nice to of met you this morning at Forest stop keep up the good work my mate.
You too mate. I will look into the drone stuff we spoke about.
Wow, what a selection of international cuisine , back in the 60s/70s it was chips/ hotdog's / burger and pots of peas.. don't think 50 quid would go far these days ...always got a fairy on a stick when we left the fair . Let me know if you see any 😂😂
Yes, things have certainly changed on the Goose Fair food front compared to the 60s/70s, but the mushy peas, one of my favourites are still in situ and I’m confident they’re here to stay. I can’t remember ever seeing the fairies on a stick you mention; maybe it was that I just never noticed them at the time. Thanks for watching and commenting.
Nice 1
You have made me hungry. Would love a duck wrap, duck plus donuts.
Oo I live here
You doing Ilson? (the proper one)
The proper one! 😊I may well go over to Ilkeston to video it. Not been for a few years. I do love street fairs, and I believe Ilkeston is one of the oldest and largest street fairs in Europe.
@@TheBeeryBoater Correct.
WoW! That’s Incredibly Awesome! I Loved it! 🫶🏻🤩❤️✨
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you for watching. ;-)
11pm tram strike ended, agreement reached between union and tram operator. Normal service from 6am Saturday.🎉
Thanks for thin info. That’s good news. I wonder what the agreement was in order to stop the union cretins from holding the Nottingham public, and those from further afield, and indirectly, the hard-working showman to ransom? At least a few more tram-ticket dodgers will be able to be caught. 😉
Although I respect each individuals and every groups right to strike it feels abit mean spirited that they choose to do at goose fair time.
Couldn’t agree more. By striking during the Goose Fair, it’s not their employer they are getting at, it’s the general public; the thousands of visitors that will be inconvenienced in travelling to the fair (if they can make it that is, and if they now chose to come), and the hard-working showman, many of whom will no doubt lose out on takings because of the guaranteed lower numbers who attend this historic and traditional family event. Shame on you, lefty GMB. If it was my company, I’d sack the lot of you, just in time for Christmas!
Arse soles they knew there wages when they took job..they should sort out wages in interview.. instead of holding everyone to ransom..
Hope weather is good looks a good year
Hopefully it will be but in the past it's always rained at sometime during the fair
Sorry you are incorrect about Apollo 13, it was @ the Hoppings in Newcastle earlier in the year! The backflash is on a different trailer and by the looks of it the space required for it was accounted for!
I was told that it was the first time at a fair in the UK by one of the people associated with the ride. Again, from what I was told. apparently the space was accounted for but there was some disagreement with the powers that be in allowing it to be erected as part of the ride.
This strike action by the GMB union has now been called off.
This strike action by the GMB union has now been called off.
@@TheBeeryBoater my son is coming up from Blackpool he has been looking forward to it for ages it's his first time.
@@Mike-xc5wn The strike action has now been called off.
Another great video thank you.
Thank you for wathiching. Glad you enjoyed it.
Fantastic video really enjoyed watching well done 👏 I just heard today trams going on strike during goose fair.
Correct. NET (the Nottingham Trams) will not be running to the Goose Fair due to strike action. The Forest tram stop will be closed. More details www.thetram.net. This strike action by the GMB union will inadvertently cause many fairgoers to have their fairground experience disrupted, curtailed or even cancelled. These SELFISH union members have no doubt undertaken to strike during the annual Goose Fair to deliberately cause mass inconvenience and chaos for people intending to travel to and enjoy enjoy the highlight of Nottingham’s events calendar. See support.thetram.net/support/solutions/articles/15000058785-tram-strike-27th-september-6th-october for updates.
its another great 4k video again ,not sure if you thought so but theres an awful lotta gaps between the rides etc years ago it never used to be like that it was always shoulder to shoulder that was the fun of the goose fair especially on friday and Saturday night oh well, thanks for the upload I enjoyed the viewing
The gaps are filling up. There was still a large crane and trailer there today with Mellors’ wheel or Eye, or whatever it’s called, and another trailer too. I imagine once these have been moved off site, some more smaller rides or food vendors will be fitted in, but I know what you mean.
@@TheBeeryBoater I hope so ,I dont want the people of hull with there fair saying theirs is the biggest and Nottingham's goose fair as gaps everywhere the atmosphere at nottingham is far to superior to hull ive been to both, but for me the goose fair is No1 and always will be
@@TorturedBanana I'll second that! ;-)

It's going to be beautiful.😍
I think so too!
Excellent video I'm not complaining but could show more of the fair instead of your face please when you're talking the mic will still pick up what your saying. I'm not trying to offend you I hope I've spoken in a polite manner many thanks 🙏
Thanks for your comment. I am conscious of some lengthy bits to camera; maybe too long in some cases. I will take your advice on board for future videos. I feel I need some “banter” to complete my style of video. What you suggest is sometimes easier said than done as more B-role is required, which means more editing and all this takes time, not least rendering time, if I am to continue to post clean-cut 4K footage within the time frame I have planned for. I am aiming to publish these videos within 24-hours of recording between undertaking other things like working. I hope you understand and appreciate the technicalities I have mentioned. Do keep watching. 😉

Thank you for watching and cheers for your comments; it means a lot. Very much appreciated. The next one should be out later today, editing time allowing.
@@TheBeeryBoater great I'll be looking forward to that 👍
The weather looks lovely plenty of blue sky, I've heard the UK are having floods, hope the fairs not a wash out. So the fair doesn't open till 4pm on a weekday now it used to be 12pm because I used to work at John Players and a lot of people would go down in their lunch break ..
Thank you for the heads-up. I was meaning to check these times as the ones I originally listed were taken from the Nottinghamshire Now (Nottingham Post) website, so I should have known better as it’s not the first bit of information in recent times that has been incorrect. At the time of checking the website I usually use displaying a more reliable source of information; that one was down. I have now updated the times.
Auro space is a new one and hulk
Thanks for the info, and many thanks for watching ;-)
Well Done a good video
Thank you Rosie.
Years and years ago, there was never any fencing was there ? there was no entrances or exits, ..That's my memories ..
I think you are right. I can never remember any fencing. I know that because when the pavements were busy on Gregory Boulevard, me and my mates would walk through the showman’s village. I remember a chained up Alsatian dog jumping out on us. Frit me to death!
@@TheBeeryBoater Yea that sounds about right that's probably why the fences went up 😂and I think it was the night before the fair opened it was called r a p e night and people used to say don't go near there or something could happen...Rumour or fact who knows but the guys who worked there were dodgy ...
What a great festival, we need more like this showing true British attitudes and care
It certainly is great, considering everyone involved in organising the event are volunteers.
