I thought fishermen were not allowed on the river during bear salmon season ? Please clarify.

Why they eat clay ?
@izraelmirelez2168 There are two theories I know of. One is they eat the mineral-rich clay to neutralize the toxins in their diet from the Amazon, from various seeds etc. The other is the diet in the Amazon lacks sodium. So they come to these clay licks to get the sodium and other minerals. This phenomenon happens every morning there, if the weather is clear and no predators around the clay lick.

Grizzlies only live in nothern america
@ralfkonig4734 Thanks for the comment! Brown bears and grizzly bears are the same species, distinguished only by how close to the coast they live and hence their diet. The ones closer to the coast are referred to as brown bear and the ones further inland are referred to as grizzly bears. In Alaska, in Katmai and places closer to the coast these are called brown bears and the ones in places like Denali national park are called grizzly bears 😊 www.nps.gov/subjects/bears/brown-bears.htm
