I am looking into the Boxer ST ( walk through) and was wondering how much hill climbing power these have as I have a bad knee and still can pedal but would like a bike with enough power. Where you stopped at the bottom of the hill was that pedal only or pedal assist? Thank you and thanks for the review :)
None of the sub-$2k bikes I've reviewed so far have enough torque to really climb anything but mild hills on just throttle. Most do pretty good on moderate hills if you pedal with moderate effort, and steep hills are a struggle with all of these models, including the Boxer. In the video when I stopped, that was with pedal assist, the hill was a moderately steep hill (it was steeper than it looks in the video). On a regular mountain bike, I would probably have made it a bit farther before running out of gas or hitting a rock/rut the wrong way and jumping down to walk.
