Thanks for the video my 236 has started leaking hydraulic oil and they are closed up tighter then fort nox. I have raised the cab one time before but it was several years ago for a different issue. I’ll go after the cab bolts again. The first time I had to cut one bolt and let me tell you they are hard. Thanks again. 👍👍👍
You’re welcome
I have cloudy fluid so I plan on changing it. This video was quite helpful, thanks.
You’re welcome!
@neverendingdiy did you do anything to clear out the pistons and lines after you drained the reservoir?
I did not. When I serviced the machine the pistons were completely compressed. So there would have been some fluid still in the lines. Up to you how you proceed. You could crack the lines if you wanted to but you might need to look into a bleed procedure. I am unsure how air in the lines would get out if trapped in there.
@neverendingdiy okay. I will lower everything and hopefully what comes out takes the bulk of the water with it.
I hope it goes well for you!
This video is priceless. I been around and worked on Heavy equipment my hole life. Taking cylinders off using a crane or a backhoe to hold the thing. The heads were all held on by huge 1-1/2” bolts or threaded in in with 350 ft lbs of torque. I think my log splitter has the same cylinder as yours so I will procede with caution. Thanks for a great and informative video.!!!!!!!!! Perfect
You are very welcome! Keep the RPMs LOW LOW LOW on the engine to prevent the rod from shooting out the cylinder. Slow bump bump bump with the hydraulic until it’s out. Worked great! Will do for other cylinder repairs in the future for sure!
Great video! I have the same dehumidifier but after i cleaned the filter stop working. It opens and closing.
Can you explain more what is not working? I do not fully understand your comment
@neverendingdiy Yes.The device starts working but after a few seconds stops
What is your humidity set to? And what number does it show on the screen when idle? If humidity set point is satisfied then the unit won’t need to run. Also, that unit will run the blower for about 30-60 seconds on startup and when you replace the bucket then shutoff if humidity is within range.
I need some severe help I have a Dodge ram 1500 it's leaving the driver side somewhere along the I would be for the driver side
Fill your reservoir with fluid, put the cap back on, pump and pump and pump your brakes over and over and over again. Then get down on the ground and trace the wet spot back to the highest point. You’ll likely find a break in the line or corrosion that has pitted a hole in the line.
Is it expensive to replace? I have this exact problem.
Depends on if you are doing this yourself or having a shop do it. If you are doing yourself you spend time instead of money. You’ll want to make sure you know how to flare brake lines the right way! I have a couple videos showing how to do this. You’ll need the right size brake line, tube cutters, flare tool, and basic shop tools to accomplish the job. If you don’t have these tools or a solid foundation on how to do this work, I would recommend allowing a trusted shop to do the repair
What color grout did you go with ? Looks amazing !!
Thank you! It’s a very light grey
Thanks - hate to throw things away and your video let me understand what to do with my ecoair unit.
Glad it could help!!
Good vid- success - ty
You’re welcome!
I have a whirlpool 70pint dehumidifier. Im gonna try it. Thanks for sharing
You’re welcome!
i have that same drain pan, also i have a truck but mines a ford. My neighbor was helping me bleed the brakes and i was scratching my head why i couldnt build any pressure, then i saw the fender and grass was all drenched in fluid. no workshop or lift here.
I worked in the dirt for a long many years before I had a shop. You can do it!
I have this truck. I bought the part from Car parts . Bur in the box it gives instructions for a wheel application. Are they the same item ?
Some speed sensors are mounted to wheel hub backing plates. This truck should either be in the rear differential like this video or in the transmission output shaft
Cleaned ours still leaks
You must not have cleared all the junk out of the pan. If needed disassemble to the point where you can GENTLY - and I mean GENTLY lift the coils up out of the pan slightly and clean underneath them. Those coils are made of copper with aluminum fins. They are very easy to bend or kink. You kink or puncture the lines, the unit is trash. I had to take one of my units a bit further and clean debris that got between the two coils and thick underneath.
outstanding presentation. nice to hear someone get straight to the important points and not waste the viewers time. also great tip about properly working the grain. excellent.
Thank you!
You seem to have a lot of expertise with the technique used at 5:57 😏 Great video, thanks for the tips!
🤯 lol you’re welcome
This is way better than my video lol
Thanks for the video, I was looking at buying a new one but I will try cleaning it first.
You’re welcome! Good luck! This should fix your problem!
In order to get the timing belt on, I had to loosen the bracket holding the tensioner. (Way easier 😅😂…took me a moment).
That was definitely one of the harder parts of the job. Great work!
Great tutorial. Thank you for passing on the knowledge. We got an old unit for $12 at a thrift store, took it apart and cleaned it. And now it's working to remove humidity from the basement.
NICE!! Great job!!
Thanks for posting. I have mine setup to pump in the sink. Blew out drain hose and cleaned back. Worked fine but now it’s leaking underneath. I’ll try this !
Probably gummed up. Good luck!
What size trowel did you use for this job ?
3/8” notch trowel I think. Pretty sure
That came out beautiful. You absolutely should be proud of it.!
Thank you!!
Thank you so much! I’m having this exact problem with my nice little dehumidifier and I was worried that it was broken. 🙏🏼💕👍🏼
You’re welcome!
Very helpful! Thanks for making it. I think we just avoided buying a new unit.
You’re very welcome!
This is a super helpful video. Thanks
You’re welcome!
great video...how did you attach the ledger boards? did you puncture the membrane?
I think I used hardy board screws that were the thickness of the baseboard and the hardy board. I did not puncture the membrane. It may have been deck screws. One or the other.
Thank you!!! I have a 236c looks just like yours. I have a leak not sure what it is. I need to clean an look around. If its just sitting it will drain maybe someone didnt shut the shut off lever of drain hose. I bought it like this. Now if i try to raise bucket it jumps an if i let off of joy stick it autos back down no pressure. May have hose busted. Thank you for this video!!!!!
I would get everything really clean inside that compartment and dried off. It won’t take long to find the leak after that. Good luck!
My 262B had a bad leak when parked. It was a cooler seal. Was quite a process to find and repair it.
I bet it was! Cleaning this machine up was a full days job before identifying the leak source
@neverendingdiy thanks for the straight forward, right to the point video. Very well done. During the cleanout I think water got into my hydraulic fluid turning it cloudy which makes me think I should change it which led to your video.
Hmmmm…. The hydraulic system is a sealed system. Water should not be able to get in as hydraulic fluid should not be able to get out. I have a couple thoughts: 1 - your hydraulic tank has a gap or crack in it allowing rain water to get in. Perhaps the seal on the cap is bad and water is getting in that way? 2- the hydraulic fluid you are using is a lower grade, cheaper fluid, that may be more hydroscopic than others - meaning it absorbs water like brake fluid does. This would happen if your hydraulic reservoir has some humid air leaking in somewhere (like through the cap, gap, or crack) and the fluid is absorbing that water. I use CAT advanced 10 hydraulic fluid. It’s flipping expensive - but expensive machines are worth expensive fluids I changed the hydraulic fluid in my CAT after 1500 hours (recommended service interval for that CAT10 fluid). And the fluid I drained down was not the least bit cloudy and I know that machine got worked for all 1500 hours. I think you have a leakage problem somewhere up top letting water in. Buy the good stuff when you do the fluid change. You won’t be disappointed and neither will your machine!
I have similar problem. Ready to try your system❤
Good luck!
Thank you
You’re welcome!
Do you have a suggestion for alternative sprays to clean the coils?
Where is the hydraulic filter located? And what year is your CAT?
My machine is a 2012. On my machine, the Hydraulic filter is located in the engine compartment - left hand side - upper quadrant closest to the cab. It’s tough to change without making a mess. It looks like an oil filter that is about 3x as tall as a standard car or truck.
My 236 has the hydraulic filter in the engine compartment. All of the filters are pretty easy to get to.
Hi. Is that spray okay to use indoors? And what if you dont have a garden hose? I rent and dont have basic things available to me. Thanks!
Yeah, the spray will be fine indoors. You could try using the sprayer on your sink if you have one. You just need enough water pressure to clean the debris out of the coil. A spray bottle would probably do it if you were hard pressed - but it would take FOREVER! I would recommend finding a friend or if your work has a hose just take it somewhere and do it there.
@@neverendingdiy so check this out. Thanks to your video, I learned about that dripping spot above where the bucket goes on the right. I put a zip tie in there and messed around. A little bit trickled out. In the back, I undid the cap where the hose would go (I dump the bucket) and WOW the amount that came out!! It was staggering! I looooved it. The consistency was gross like thick mucous but I loved getting it out. I removed all screws but was unable to disassemble the components. When I removed the filter (cover), it revealed the same area that you sprayed. What I ended up doing was going in the direction of the lines w a microfiber cloth and that seemed to remedy that. It all dripped down and made its way to the drip and the hole of the cap and more drained out. I loved draining that stuff so much if I could make a career of just doing that, I would. My next step is looking up how to clean the bucket out. I see how it's got build up in there that reminds me of Vaseline. I'm embarrassed to admit this but you are officially my dehumidifier cleaning guru so I think confessions are fitting. When I looked up bucket maintenance, it says to clean it once weekly or more. I've have dehumidifiers for 20 years at this point and NEVER have. THANK YOU endlessly for this video!
@rainbowsandkittens1537 good work! You can clean the bucket with soap and water in the sink. I would dump the debris outside though. No sense in putting that junk from one place down the drain to another. Nice job!
@@neverendingdiy THANK YOU!!! The way I see it, it will turn out I either greatly improved this appliance or somehow damaged it beyond repair. Time will tell. If I put a smidge of dawn and vinegar in the bucket with water (should it be warm?cold?hot) can I let that soak over night? If not, I will do it in the morning, I'm beat. And thank you for that tip about dumping it outside. That would never have occured to me! Man, I am SO grateful to you.
Soaking probably won’t change anything. You gotta think… it’s constantly soaking in water and never going anywhere. I would just scrub it out. It should come clean pretty quick with a little elbow grease
Awesome! Wish I searched this before I purchased a new one, BUT good thing I didn’t throw out my old unit. Now I have two 🙃
That’s awesome!!
Thanks for posting this. It was really useful.
You’re very welcome
@@neverendingdiy I was poking around in my 226B3 skid steer today. Replaced the inline fuel filter before the lift pump as it was packed with crap from the fuel tank to the point where it stalled out the machine. While trying to get better access I lifted the cab and oh boy - I need to do what you did and give it a good hose out! Embarrassingly dirty.
@langdons2848 super satisfying once it’s clean though! Definitely a good thing to check once or twice a year. You don’t want that dirt and debris piling up on your lines or trapping moisture to create rust!
@@neverendingdiy definitely! I've had my Cat dealer do maintenance in the past, but they are just crazy expensive now so I'm taking that work on myself instead. There's a big learning curve.
I need a good manual to work on this where can I find one? 2010 236c
Dehumidifier cleaning
I just about trashed my leaking de-himidifier until I saw your helpful video. Now it works perfectly. Thanks a bunch!
You’re very welcome!
Where did you get that v guide for your tile saw?
That V guide came with the saw. That’s a cheap Ryobi tile saw. I think it was $80 brand new. It’s nothing fancy but definitely got the job done without any issues. The one thing I did though is bought a high dollar saw blade for it and threw out the one that came with it. Made a big difference!
Nice video! I just replaced the front to rear 3/16 tube on a 2001 Dakota. Both ends were bubble flared in my case. I bought AGS copper nickel from a local parts store. Its not magnetic. The 4lifetime copper nickel from Amazon is magnetic.
Nice job!
Thanks for making this video, I just fixed ours. Was about to throw it away and buy a new one but now it's working perfectly again thanks to this video.
You’re very welcome!
👍 thanks
You’re welcome!
He didn’t show anything lol
Sorry you had trouble following along. If you have any questions feel free to ask
Great video. I will have to do the same think to the smaller 25 ton from county line. My problem right now is i dont know which bore size it is or how to measure. Any suggestions on how to find the bore size?
I just brought my seals down to a local hydraulic shop. I had a hard time finding what I needed online. You could always measure everything with a set of calipers if you wanted to
I have this exact unit so Thanks for showing me how to clean it.
You’re welcome!
Is that a damn bottle rocket stick?
Hahaha! Good eye! It sure is!! We have since upgraded to larger narrow wooden dowels
@@neverendingdiy 😅 I knew it!!
@lowxpectations tell me you’re a pyro without telling me you’re a pyro 🧨🤣🤣
@@neverendingdiy allegedly
I started taking my grandmas apart to service it but the coils are super clean and there’s no debris anywhere. However I did trip on the hose so I reset it so it’s flush and I think the problem is solved!
A fix is a fix. Good job!
Thank you!
You’re welcome!
I was wondering what that hose was for? BTW- that's how you drain the oil from a JD road grader. Which seems bizarre, the fate of a $15K motor hanging off a old rubber hose dangling. I'm trying to isolate the cause of my Cat246B skid making howling/vibrating noise under heavy hydraulic load? Any experience on a growling noise from hydraulics? Thanks for the video.
It’s possible you have air in your system. I’d look into any kind of bleeding procedure. Could be cylinder cavitation. Be careful
HUGE help!! Thank you!
You’re welcome!!!
Good job.. I 3d printed 100 2mm jigs for the picket tiles. First time tiling for me but everything is perfect. It wouldn't be that good and fast of a result without those jigs
Great job! Just as an FYI they sell tile spacers in the store for cheap. You can get them in various sizes
Do you have any tips for getting the cut edges smooth? What kind of blade did you use?
I used a high dollar diamond blade on the saw and a diamond hand file for smoothing and shaving the tile
