Hi! I just came across your channel and wow, our thoughts about notebooks and journals could not be more similar! I follow a lot of journal/planner people on TH-cam and Instagram and though I’m often in awe and inspired by other’s systems I rarely see or hear someone using their notebooks in a way that’s as close to my style. Very cool! Can’t wait to watch more of your videos! Happy writing 😊

I also got the A5 Cousin as a planner for 2025, looking to replace my current bujo. I didn't order it from Hobonichi themselves, but from a third-party store. As cover for the planner I got the Hollyhocks, because I like me some floral designs. I also decided to try out a pencil board and got one with the botanical illustration by Tomitaro Makino, which I have been using with an A5-sized notebook from Hobonichi which I also purchased as a general notebook, as opposed to use as a planner, organizer, or journal. That notebook being the Yamazakura, also botanical design by Tomitaro Makino. Getting that notebook was mainly to try out the Hobonichi paper and get used to it by the time I start to use the planner. The thinness of the paper is something I am not used to, used as I am to Leuchtturm notebooks. It is not, however, altogether unpleasant. At first, I was unsure what to actually use it for, but I recently started an online course on the basics of business administration, so I have been taking my notes in there. Set up an index at the start to easily locate where the different topics are, once there's more than one of them. I was surprised to find the notebook lacks page numbers, so I do have to add these as I go, which was a bit unexpected but hardly an inconvenience. As for the planner, I did unpack it already and put it in the cover, as I just couldn't help myself and wanted to check it out a bit, marvel at it, admire it. I haven't done anything further with it yet, that'll probably happen closer to the time when it gets put to use. But so far I just love holding it, I love the little ribbon page markers on the cover, ... I can hardly wait to begin using it.

I have heard everybody say that it is scary or creepy and it’s not in the least. If you read it you find out that he’s a superhero not somebody creepy. It’s just most people who speak English. Don’t understand Japanese aesthetics.

This is first haul I have seen with Tragen flat pouch. I bought in a6 size for my Hon. Great video, thank you🤗

I really want to get a tragen pouch for my 5 year a6 but I don’t know if it would fit.

My journal is 1.92 euros and comes from a supermarket, it has dot grids and it's suiting me really well and it seems to last a lot longer than the other journals I had did.

I got Moleskine pocket daily and Kinbor A6 and Kinbor Weeks for 2025. I contemplate using a bit of Kinbor and a bit of Moleskine for my dailies as I love them both. Maybe switch each month then I could use the spare months for notes! My biggest challenge is to persuade myself from buying Cousin. I do not need A5 planner because I work better in smaller ones. I don't like the quotes. And I can't afford it. But it is so tempting to have all in one book. And I journal in blank grid notebook. But I agree Hobonichi is just such a good quality and high class of products it's very tempting. I got the A6 Tragen Flat Pouch because I don't have anything to carry A6 books in. I love it!

I had bought the Common Planner by Sterling Ink. I looove the look of Hobonichi but I feel like there is too much space for me at the moment, that’s why I like the common planner as it doesn’t have the dailies but it has blank pages you can turn into dailies. If I keep up with it constantly in 2025, I will try my first ever Hobonichi for 2026 😂😂

I got the Denali A5 (and A6) too - it was just such a pretty cover! I wanted to make it a trifecta and get the Cousin + Denali cover, but they were showing as sold out when I finally got through to the website, so I ended up grabbing a Navy Hon instead. I'm currently *thinking* very hard about doing a second order and getting a Weeks Mega as a self-care planner also.

My daily journal is the Hobonichi A5 graph too (currently using the Keiko Shibata), and got the Denali as an extra. 💛💛💛

I used my cousin this year as a daily journal. I’ve written in it every day. I love. I do write a lot. I am doing the same next year. And I purchased an A5 Avec as my daily planner. ❤❤ Your Tragen Flat Pouch.

I totally feel you on the post-uni reading burnout! I withdrew from a PhD in 2016 and I'm still struggling to get back into reading after spending 6hrs a day reading in the library 😂 The failure of my PhD has probably affected me more than I'd like to admit.

First off, you can't reference Supernatural and not mention the father of all common place notebooks in cinema : Indiana Jones, more precisely his father, played by Sean Connery, who made an awesome book about his researches on the Grail. I say that's the grail of common place books. Secondly, if you want to try categories again, (I love chaos too), you could put a key on a bookmark and always know what categories are what at a glance. Lastly, I've been common placing for years without knowing it. I've tried many organisations, different notebooks for different topics, wallets or pouches full of ticket stubs, bullet journals, nothing really sticks. I am discovering again something I know very well with new eyes and it gives me a different perspective. I think I'll keep an agenda apart and just put everything else together. I even used to put my shopping lists in such notebooks but no, not anymore. I have even tried blogging and am now thinking to copy all that numeric content in a notebook and get rid of the website. I just like pens too much and decorating too. Thanks for the vid !❤

We have really similar taste in books. I LOVED Bookshops & Bonedust (the Legends & Lattes prequel you mentioned) so so much I’ve already reread it a couple times. Honestly liked it more than the first book but they were both extremely extremely high 5 stars ^^
