Jesus was buried with many small cloths. Carbon dating has never worked. Jesus was not entombed with the crown of thorns. DaVinci faked the shroud. It's a fake relic idol. I would trash it.

Habermas is a Christian first and a historian a long way second. There are actually no first hand accounts of the Resurrection. We have no idea of who wrote the Gospel resurrection accounts, when, where they were written or what their sources were. The earliest first hand account of a vision of Jesus is Paul, probably in about 50AD. Paul says he spoke to some disciples about Jesus but that's all we know except that this was at best about 20 years after the event. We have a much fuller account of Joseph Smiths visions in the 1820s. Why not believe those?

Every Christian denomination should be quoting this man and sharing his information. Instead, they're being petty and political, "teaching" the same watered down, third grade level basics and thus there's no growth in faith and knowledge within most churches. There is one thing that seems to get overlooked... The shroud is viewed layed flat. Now, the front and back image of the body makes sense how it looks does not. Here is the reason: When someone is buried in a cloth, and assuming cloth is not starched stiff as a plank, the fabric would be wrapped AROUND the body. Therefore, when unfolding it from a body that supposedly made an imprint on it, the image would not be an image as seen from a single viewpoint as a camera would... For instance the ears would not be seen as we do a face from the front but they would bu much further apart and vied as we would see a head from the side because the fabric wrapped around the head. The same goes for the rest of the body. My point is that the should's image is a 2D image of a 3D form on a 2D surface as seen from a single viewpoint, like a projection. Unless of course, the fabric was somehow held perfectly flat and parallel both front and back when it was exposed to whatever it was. Try putting all sides of any 3D form on a 2D surface and see what I'm on about.

The carbon dating was debunked already. The shroud was manipulated heavily in the 12 and 13 hundreds. The scientist from the 80s who took samples for the carbon dating was just a small piece that had been heavily manhandled. The shroud is 100 percent real!!

So when WAS Jesus born? Funny how the New Testament doesn't even have that basic information, even though it goes into great detail about the events surrounding his birth... it does not tell us which YEAR, DECADE or even *WHICH CENTURY OR MILLENNIUM* he was born in. And yet not one contemporaneous word about the most extraordinary Jesus, the biggest star of the land, from either the Jews OR the Romans. Obviously it's a hoax that was invented much later. 'And he went throughout all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom among the people. HIS FAME spread throughout all Syria, and they brought him those oppressed by demons,and he healed them. And great crowds followed him from Jerusalem and Judea, and from beyond the Jordan.' Matt 4 23 - 25. Yet not a WORD written about him ... until he was retroactively invented in the late first century.

This is very interesting. I am not an expert on anything so please take my comments with a grain of salt. My question is Why would there be any blood stains at all? When a body dies it stops bleeding. From what I understand of the burial accounts of Jesus, by the time He was buried the blood on his body would probably been dry. Was there any evidence of the fragrant oils that Joseph and Nicodemus anointed His body with? Would there be, after such a long time? Both in Luke and John they mention linen cloths, in the plural. John mentions a separate handkerchief that was used to cover His head. He was beaten like no other man. Wounds do not heal after death. It's interesting that you can see the scars of the man's hands and sort of on his head, but the face is clean of any wounds.

Two big problems with the shroud is one, the figure has long hair. The only Jews then that had long hair were NAZARITES-a man who vowed to not cut his hair until he had performed some vow he made to the Lord. And there is no indication in the Bible that Jesus had made a Nazarite vow. Historians has suggested that the European idea of Jesus having long hair was confusing him being a Nazarene, not a Nazarite. And 2, the person in the shroud appears to be a tall, slender Caucasian. by all historical and biblical accounts, Jesus looked just like the average Jewish man of his day. Short, was short hair and olive skin.

What is the issue with the carbon testing not being able to understand, the samples taken were from a more modern Middle Ages patch job. Why can you not understand that. It gets frustrating hearing them talk about carbon testing without mentioning that fact. The material and weave pattern doesn’t even match the rest of the clothe.
