    5 minutes in and I am wishing you were on my 700 my friend. Damn! What is it that a 1300 does that a dual sport doesn't do?

      Seriously though - this may sound silly, but watch some other videos of what your bike can do and proper technique and build up your trust. Your bike is capable and it is not all about choosing lines, it is about unweighting the bike, keeping your momentum + speed up and letting the bike do what it can do. And if you can - get out on a 350 or even a 500 enduro and go back and run the same line so you can build your confidence back up.

    I'm a little surprised to hear you don't like the seat - I rode a 1300 GS about a week ago, and loved the seat. I do like firmer saddles, though, so maybe that's why. If you do end up going with a new one, check out Sargent - I have one on my Versys 650 (the stock one was an ass hatchet), and I did a 1,500 km ride this weekend, my butt didn't start complaining until the last 2-300 km. I think I'm going to be putting down a deposit on the GS later this week.

    • @ohhhcrap
      @ohhhcrap 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I don't mind the seat for short rides but after around 100 miles that's when the seat gets uncomfortable for me. The firmness doesn't bother me but I think it's the narrowness that does. I have short arms so if I try to sit far back to the wider part of the seat my shoulders get sore from being stretched forward so I'm forced to sit closer to the tank where the seat is the narrowest. I may buy some handle bar risers from wunderlich that move the bars up and back before I spend money on a Sargent seat and see if that helps. Cheers thanks for watching 🤙

    Brett Tcaks channel is amazing for learning the basics fundamentals of riding off-road. I actually taught myself how to ride a bike on youtube 15 years ago from TH-cam, the next day went and passed my license test. I was all about on-road until I test road a 1250GS and had to have one and then started to teach myself how to ride off-road again from more TH-cam videos. It sounds silly but the saying when in doubt throttle out really helps these bikes are way more stable off-road when they're going at speed, any ruts or issues with the terrain you seem to just float over then rather than being massively affected by them.

      Thanks for the sub! All in with parts and labor it was around $1400 not bad considering the hell I put the bike through. The cost would've been substantially more if I replaced everything that got scuffed, cracked, or broken but I only replaced the mechanical bits that broke i.e. gear lever, electronic windscreen actuator, and sparkplug cover. I should replace the right crash bar since I think it's bent because the rubber guards are now touching the cylinder head and the left side ones don't but I'm not too worried about it. The fairings and windshield are also scuffed up but I don't mind so I won't be replacing those anytime soon. I believe BMW quoted me about $5000 to get it back to showroom condition.

      @@ohhhcrap good luck getting another crash bar I'm still waiting on mine I ordered for my 719 spec I bought in November. BMW are super slow with stock at the moment and I couldn't spec the enduro package from factory for some reason with the Tramuntana edition. I've done some light off-roading on it so far but it's nerve racking without engine bars :P I had my own channel but the police in Australia are assholes and will find you for breaking the speed limit by the smallest amount and can legally do so here with only TH-cam as evidence against you. I wouldn't risk going off-pavement on my GS if it didn't have crash bars but you saw how shit of a rider I am so you may not need them. That's crazy about Aussie police being able to use TH-cam footage as evidence, I guess that's why everyone blurs out their speedo that has that type of content in other countries. Anyway it's never too late to start another channel just make sure to keep it under the limit 😉.

    kudo's for "going for it"... but the reality is that you'd learn much better faster safer by practicing basic riding technique on a small bike, like a KLX250, CRF300L, DRZ400, etc... and use your GS for road work until you get any type of base of experience. It'll be a long road to develop real offroad skills on a bike like this as a beginner.

    I usually try to be kind in my comments to new riders... but this is a whole other level of bad. First of all, that is not off-roading. It's a road! It's a dirt road, but it's in great shape and an average rider would take that at nearly double your speed without issue. You need to stop riding that massive bike till you learn some basic skills! Buy a DR200 and ride that for a few years before you injure yourself badly.

I think the sand is probably softer than it looks in the video which your tyres arent equipped for (Continental TKC80s would be better and are more 50/50, your anikees are like 70/30 road biased at most). Also try to hit the ruts with the front tyre perpendicular to them, hit them at an angle you're likely to slide into them or wash out. Sometimes offroad i find the faster I'm going the safer it feels, going super slow is when the bike starts to want to fall over. When in doubt throttle out and look way down the road not at your front tyre. But massive respect, heaps of people are giving you shit when most of them would never attempt this sort of stuff on their GS. Hope your bike didn't sustain any serious damage. @ohhhcrap 16 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Oof that would be a difficult review for me since I've never had real world experience riding a 1250gs outside of a 5 mile test ride. That being said I've ridden both one after the other and I will say to ME the 1300 felt more nimble, responsive, and narrower. The 1300 also comes with adaptive cruise control which was something I thought I didn't care for until I actually rode on the interstate and used it. Ultimately I think both bikes are awesome and I'd happily own a 1250gs if 1300s weren't available as that was the bike I was planning on buying before the 1300 was released. Realistically aside from adaptive cruise control I think the biggest determining factor when it comes to deciding which ones for you boils down to aesthetics and your pocket book. You can find a used 1250gs for almost half the price of a new fully optioned 1300, even a base model new 1250 will be $3-4,000 cheaper than a base model 1300 plus a lot of dealerships in my area are offering great financial incentives to get rid of last year's 1250 models. Both bikes are awesome and you'll be happy on either bike you decide on. Hope that helps and thanks for leaving a comment and watching my video. Cheers 🤙

    It is awesome that your bike is not a Starbucks-only bike,... :). What camera are you using?

      Hahaha the GS stereotype is strong trying my best to break it! And I use the GoPro black 12 with media mod and Movo ACM400 mic to capture voice audio. Thanks for the positive comment and watching my video 🤙

      @@ohhhcrap I enjoy seeing people doing all kinds of stuff with their bikes. My goal is to do an elephant turn with my GS at some point in my life, but I need to invest in some better crash bars first :))

      @@LucianCioranu hey that's one of my goals as well! And the OEM crash bars are pretty solid in my opinion. I was on the fence at first but after everything I've put it through so far they've protected the bike and have held up nicely.

      Funny story I was narrating and talking to the camera the whole trip unfortunately I don't think I pushed the aux jack in all the way into the GoPro and sometime shortly after the first rut it worked it's way out so the whole ride I was talking and nothing got recorded which is why I filled it with music 🤣. Next time I'll be sure the mics aux is seated all the way in! Thanks for watching and the comment 🤙
