Culture Shock in the Netherlands after moving from Africa😵💫🤣
Idk what to comment
If you go outside the “randstad” it a lot different, here people don’t even know what “situationship” means
Internationals who live in the Netherlands, who don’t speak Dutch themselves but call Dutch people shallow or closed … well, well… First try to get into contact with a local and speak in their mother tongue. It is really disappointing to hear them saying prejudiced generalisations. Are these people really as “open minded and international” like they think they are? Sharing your thoughts and personal feelings is best in your mother tongue… even if you think Dutch speak English well.
00:54 I agree
Dutch people usually open up if they see you put in effort to learn about the country including trying to learn their language so if the Polish woman learns more Dutch, Dutch men will high likely be more open to having deep conversations
Im a 28 half Dutch person brought up in the middle east. My mom speaks arabic fleuntly and has been living with us for 30 years.
There's a huge difference I think between people from the larger cities and people from smaller places and more rural areas. The Polish womn would find more what she's looking for, I think, outside the "Randstad". As a Dutch womn I haven't seriously dated internationals, at least not besides going on a few dates. I'm not opposed to it, as long as our cultural values kind of align. But it's also a thing to me whether you plan on staying here or not, I wouldn't spend too much time and effort into something I know can't be long-term anyways
Scharrels 😂
you live in the NL born and raised in the NL the language u think in is NL. yet you say ur from suriname or curacao. brada ga weg ga daar wonen
Cool interview bro!
Thank you bro🤞🏾
As a 29 year odl Dutch person who grew up in international contexts and also lived abroad I've noticed that I've mostly had relationships with international people, only recently had my first relationship with a Dutch person! Thanks for this fun vid!

Nice video! Keep posting Vade Chronicles
I am British German and having just bread and cheese always annoyed me. Found out my genetics are 20 percent Italian and Spanish so now I know why I am always thinking of the NEXT meal 😛
Most Black Jamaicans are descended from enslaved Africans who came from the regions of modern-day Ghana, Nigeria, and Central Africa: Akan: The dominant African culture in Jamaica, with the majority of slaves imported from the Gold Coast Ashanti: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica Yoruba: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica Ibo: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica Ibibio: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica The trans-Atlantic slave trade brought Africans to the Caribbean between the 15th and 19th centuries to work on plantations and in domestic households. ??????????? what is that guy saying!
Wait I thought people on the Caribbean Islands where historically from Africa brought there due to slavery? This is coming from a fellow African person by the way.
00:46 I've never heard that country tbh
10:04 Actually not true, Dutch food used to contain a lot of spices up until the mid 19th century. Unfortunately poverty because of economic decline caused the diet to become very bland. You can see the legacy of the spice trade in things like sweets and cookies like speculaas.
niet waar onze voedsel tradities komen uit het protenstante geloof. met het idee van het moet vullen maar we moeten er niet van genieten.aangezin dat dat een zonde is. mensen vergetetn zoms hoe extreem religieus nederland was.
Vlaams is not really a different language but a different dialect in the Dutch language family. Similar to people in Groningen, Brabant, Limburg or de Achterhoek for example.
We are NOT direct, we are Honest...telling lies is considered to be rude here... like telling people "they should come visit some times"...but you do not mean it, or asking "how are you doing" but you don't want to know.. wasting some ones time is very rude...come to the point please...
He says in a very direct way...
Dutch food 🤮 Dutch weather 🤮 Dutch girls all ugly Dutch old generation 👍🏻 Dutch new generation 🤮 Dutch language 🥵

Bread and cheese 😂😂 Well thats why we are not FAT but very healty. We dont run from mc Donalds to burger King we cycle because we have cyclepaths everywhere and every other country have to take thd car so they have no freedom and lots of obese 😂😂😂😂
Here in the south of the Netherlands we have proper lunch, not only sandwiches and cheese. We have sandwiches with cheese or ham or baked egg or whatever you want to put on your bread. Flemish is a variety of dutch; the language rules are the same but the way words are used isn’t always the same. We have the dutch variant of Indonesian food, with lots of spices in our national food. And you can find so many kinds of food from so many different countries here. Apple pay does work.
Oh really, interesting! Which city is this?
@ in which city is what?
@@palantir135 because I’d love to visit a city south of the Netherlands one day, so I’m curious which cities usually have meals like that
@ you can find Indonesian food in every city and almost every bigger towns. Look for an Indonesisch restaurant and not a Chinees Indonesisch restaurant because the chefs in the latter are likely chinese and not from Indonesia. In cities with a university, there are the most restaurants with foreign foods. For lunch, find a lunchroom, a cafetaria where you can also sit to eat, herberg or dutch restaurant. Maastricht is a great city to visit. Be sure to eat Limburgse vlaai there; the local specialty. Den Bosch is great too. The cathedral is a must. Remember that Den Bosch is the city of Hieronimus Bosch. Tilburg is a university city. Museum De Pont is a modern art museum and is the favorite museum of former dutch queen Beatrix. Nearby ia the textile museum, also very interesting. The area around the train station is a former train repair facility that is transformed to an area to live and go out. The library won a design price; it was the biggest hall where locomotives where repaired and several of the cranes are still inside. Rotterdam is also great. Full of modern architecture by world renowned architects. Take a boat trip through the harbor. So many places to eat.
One thing I always find funny is that there are different opinions about most differences. Some like it, some think some things are shit. But almost everyone seems to like the directness after being used to it.
Yes because it’s true! I went through a similar case myself and now I love the directness😂
Always get a Seat???!!! No way….. 😂😂😂😂😂
Especially with all the tram construction these days, getting a seat is a luxury😂😂
Imagine how India must be 😂
EN ZO SNEL ALS MOGELIJK NEDERLANDS LEREN ,BELANGRIJKSTE WAT ER IS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DAT. NOEMEN WE EERLIJKHEID !!!!!
Dan moeten de Nederlanders wel in het Nederlands antwoordde en als er iemand in niet zo vlot Nederlands een vraag stelt. Dus niet "uit beleefdheid" overgaan naar het Engels.
This video is very funny keep it up! 😅
Thank you😊

everywhere i go in the world i find Dutch people, most continents are found or started by the Dutch, like Australia ones was New Holland, you have New zaeland and Tasmania(Abel Tasman) South Afrika capetown(Kaap de goede hoop) New York was New Amsterdam, A.B.C islands and the S.S.S island, they also where in Indonesia and Moluku... they where the only people who traded with Japan for centuries etc etc. but they never travel 🤣 Dutch people speak many languages becouse of trading with different countries whop they visit for work.
THE PEOPLE YOU INTERVIEW ARE WEIID ,NOT THE DUTCH PEOPLE ,THOSE PEOPLE STILL HAVE SO MUCH TO LEARN !!!!
Yes if they were not that expensive
The Italian girls are talking about themselfs i think but hey im a man i dont try to understand woman i dont wanne burn my fingers 😆😆 Oh and about the infra and public transportation. here we have own buslanes own bicyclelanes, traffic calming everywhere to slow down traffic, Italy have potholes everywhere and no bikelane no buslanes ect. haha yes i worked several times in Italy so i know how bad it is there same as the PT.
Nice, but we all knew that. Dutch are direct, organized, they do not kiss strangers and complain about the weather a lot. In the eyes of young 'fun' immigrants and tourists, who would be better advised to build up their home country. I would rather hear about the elders moving from LA or NY to Mississippi or W Virginia simply for the cost of living. What culture shocks would that person or couple face?
I am pretty sure the Italian girls mean that if you go to the same store/coffeeshop every day, in Italy the employees of the shop will learn your name and get to know you a bit more than just in the nehterlands where the interactions are polite but they don't go past the polite conversation. I think this might be because of the language difference and because they are in Amsterdam, because I see the personal connection at many small shops here in my smaller dutch city
Yes, I think it's different in the city. People don't really want the small talk, so people working in shops and stuff don't want to force the small talk upon to their costumers. But it's not the same everywhere in the country.
