Most Black Jamaicans are descended from enslaved Africans who came from the regions of modern-day Ghana, Nigeria, and Central Africa:
Akan: The dominant African culture in Jamaica, with the majority of slaves imported from the Gold Coast
Ashanti: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica
Yoruba: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica
Ibo: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica
Ibibio: One of the peoples that were enslaved and brought to Jamaica
The trans-Atlantic slave trade brought Africans to the Caribbean between the 15th and 19th centuries to work on plantations and in domestic households.
    ???????????
    what is that guy saying!

Wait I thought people on the Caribbean Islands where historically from Africa brought there due to slavery? This is coming from a fellow African person by the way.

What you're saying is true, the Jamaican fellow literally knows nothing about the slave trade in Jamaica and around South America.
