Welcome to Timeline Watch Review!
I'm very passionate about mechanical watches. In an age of disposable consumer goods and technology that quickly becomes obsolete, there's something about the watchmaker's craft that speaks to me. I'm intrigued by the design facet of wristwatches, as well as the engineering that goes into these amazing little machines we wear on our wrist.
This channel is dedicated to reviewing automatic and mechanical watches with an emphasis on microbrands. Please let me know if you have a product you'd like me to review or if you're a fellow TH-camr and you'd like to collaborate on something.

In this video, I demonstrate how to resize pin & tube bracelets like you see on some Seikos and from Chinese watch brands like San Martin.
Best Rolex Mil-Sub Alternative? The Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military 39mm
มุมมอง 9K4 ปีที่แล้ว
Is the Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military 39mm a worthwhile Rolex alternative? Is Steinhart worth the money? This is a review of the Steinhart Ocean Vintage Military 39mm from Gnomon Watches. Here's the link to where you can buy this watch: www.gnomonwatches.com/products/ocean-vintage-military-39-gnomon-exclusive?_pos=8&_sid=1bbdb3705&_ss=r
The Best Seiko 62MAS Homage? - San Martin 62MAS Review
มุมมอง 11K4 ปีที่แล้ว
A review of the San Martin 62MAS. This watch is an affordable homage to the Seiko SLA017, but is it worth the money? Note: I incorrectly identify the bezel insert as aluminum in this video. The insert is ceramic. Here's the link to where I purchased this watch: www.aliexpress.com/item/33015422119.html?spm=2114.12010612.8148356.25.eef2394as1XDq0 You can find similar watches from Heimdallr (Shark...
Rolex copy # omega made the first one for nato ! Use chain lube !!!! CHAIN LUBE STIFFENS UP , SILICONE LOOSENS !!!!
For a sec i thought it was a naked women site That intro is really shady ! Iv aboused this watch for 5 years . Im surprised its still going , iv not taken it off for 3 years , washed it in my washing machine , 3 hour long wash it still works , dived to 90m half a doz times , scraped the paint off half the bezel climbing its tough i give it that
Considering the real Rolex milsub is over 100k, calling it an alternative is kinda silly. It’s not an option for 99% of people.
Your video saved me a lot of effort (and potentially cost), so thank you for bothering to make it :)
Thank you. Subscribed!
I have the Steinhart Ocean 39 Legacy and love it. The vintage patina look, along with the "old radium" lume, is what drove me to purchase that watch.
Is this strap uv resistant? Thinking of using mine when on holiday
Thanks for making this video!
vocal fry
All clasps are pressed sheet stock, even Omega and Rolex, people don't understand what they're looking at.
I love the chocolate strap form uncle
do you still own this piece? how's the steinhart hodling up?
Great information, thanks for sharing!.
Is the discount code still on? Will this fit a citizen promaster ny0040-09e ? Thanks

on this is for me all wrong...
Duncan Russell?
Interesting. I'd like a waffle strap that feels like the strap from the Turtle, not the skx. Wonder who makes them.
From Uncle's site SHORT: 70mm x 120mm, two keepers STANDARD: 75mm x 129mm, two keepers
I don't know how you can waffle on about this strap for so long. 5 minutes would cover it.
Thanks for the laugh and possibly constructive criticism. Can we agree it’s better to waffle on for 16 minutes than post a tiresome 45 minute review for Uncle Seiko’s Tire Tread strap?
Great review. Still available at Gnomon. Prices on the secondary market are higher than retail! 😂
Going too sell my squale militaire too purchase this model
I bought one about two years ago. Following the initial proper short wind, after three days, the watch ran 3- 4 minutes fast per day, and then just stopped altogether on the fourth day. This sequence was repeated several times after wearing the watch continuously. I hesitate sending it back to China for service. It either has an ET/24 movement or a Selita. Gnomen is vague about that. For now it just sits on my desk in it's white box and I frown at it once in a while.
Fry me for fish! I couldn't wind it myself due to a stroke. My aid had been winding it in the "ghost" date position. Just turning the date wheel over and over again. Now that it IS being wound properly. it keeps fantastic time. Glad I kept trying..lol.
If you still have the watch, it’s worth testing it to see if it has been magnetised. A few years ago I had an automatic watch that suddenly started gaining a few minutes a day so I bought a cheap demagnetiser and that solved the problem.
WAffle strap is not good, its not pliable and it has no taper, looks weird with the big cushion case
Thanks for your feedback. Is your comment about the Uncle Seiko waffle strap or a waffle strap in general? What type of strap do you prefer?
Wrist size?
7 inch, he told it
Great strap from our favorite Uncle! Very comfortable on my 6309.
Thank you Chris Griffin for the review.
i guess it is pretty randomly asking but do anybody know of a good site to stream newly released movies online?
@Dakari Lionel Lately I have been using flixzone. Just google for it =)
AHAHAHA!!!
Still have it?
Yes I do
I have an Ocean one 38mm blue/black, and i love it, Steinhart really is awesome value for money. With regards to homages, mine has a bezel like the rolex batman, but its mostly different. The rolex though is 29x the price...... I can't afford that and i wouldn't wear it. I prefer my Steinhart every time.
Thanks for the video! These bracelets are a pain but I do agree that this is the best method. I just resized my Heimdallr 62mas homage but my only issue was the cheap pusher pin tools that I had on hand. I broke about 3-4 of them after the pinheads would snap off and get stuck in the links. Do you know of any solid quality pushers that won't break? I swear I've been through dozens of them over the years and all I want is a decently made tool. Thanks again!
try a SPB143. If you find a good one, its arguably better than those that you mentioned.
Asking $39 for this is a robbery. It's truly just another Chinese strap with a logo.
If you’re not a fan of the waffle, check out the GL831. That strap is the same price and is way better than any Chinese strap you’ll find. It’s worth every penny!
You know most are made in China? Strapcode are so is Uncle Seikos and a bazillion other brands like Zelos, Spinnaker watches, and Phoibos watches and many others. I bought their Razorwire bracelet and its F n awesome!
@@TimelineWatchReview Is the US Waffle strap supple and pliable as US GL831?
@@Sunby59 No, it’s stiffer. The GL831 is the best strap from Uncle Seiko in my experience. I would love a waffle strap with the same material as his GL831 while keeping the same dimensions of his waffle.
@@justintonation9726 Thanks for your response. I do own GL831 and it’s so comfortable. I wanted to try Waffle for its retro looks, but wanted to see if they are comfortable as GL831.
I own both the Steinhart OVM and the San Martin 62mas - I would agree that they are pretty equal in terms of build quality. I would not agree that the movement used in the Steinhart is better. The NH35 movement in my “62mas” actually outperforms my Steinhart.
Uncle seiko waffle strap is thin compare to other waffle straps.
does the fat spring bars fit the hole of that strap?
Of the Uncle Seiko strap? Yes they fit. He even sends a set with the strap.
I mean this strap th-cam.com/video/9VgEMlY2hjU/w-d-xo.html
I love mine on this strap
How big is your wrist?
7 inches

Would the bezel and hands be modable with custom Seiko parts?
It has a NH35 movement, so any hands that are compatible with that will work. I don’t believe a Seiko bezel would fit this.
54watch does come with a bracelet. And it does look alright in the pictures i think. I'm seriously considering getting one to see what's it like in person, but it's just that tiny bit more expensive though. But I like that size so much better... we will see, i might get that or this one, I'll let my instincts dictate me which one to buy :D
I like the smaller size of the 54watch, but the indicies just look off to me.
@@TimelineWatchReview I ended up getting myself a Merkur Conqueror for 180usd :D
Nh35 is a beast. Very reliable.
Lol i like how your cat coming again at the end 🤣 let her sit there bro i love cats haha, great review and definitely great watch for the price its unbeatable.
The bezel insert or the bezel is aluminium?.? Because my insert is ceramic
It’s ceramic. That was a mistake. I addressed it in the video description.
The part on the underside of the end links is only a lip to lock it against the case and minimize movement of the end links. I habe several solid end link bracelets for various watches, and most of them have a similar lip. It isn't a flaw, it's a feature
Looks really cheap, especially the strap holder rings.
It’s going for a particular vintage aesthetic. I bought a few competing waffle straps and the Uncle Seiko is my favorite. I’ve grown to like this even more, but he knocks it out of the park with his GL831. That’s my favorite rubber strap that I’ve tried.
I have one of these... absolutely love it!!!! So evenly weighted, keeps good/perfect time. Feels great on the wrist- astonishing lume. Love it
Glad you like it! I like mine as well. It does feel really heavy compared to my SKX with an Uncle Seiko Z199 bracelet or my 6309 on the Uncle Seiko Razorwire. I still love it though, it’s an awesome versatile watch.
@@TimelineWatchReview I don't feel the weight at all... almost forget its on my wrist. However I don't have it on the metal bracelet. If weight is an issue you could always change the strap. The case weight of these is only around 77 grams!
I just ordered a San Martin 62MAS from Amazon. The description states it has a ceramic bezel and a rubber strap. I paid $235
I might have misspoke in my review saying this comes with an aluminum bezel insert. It comes with a ceramic insert and it’s available with a rubber strap or bracelet. I hope you like the watch!
Thanks for responding. It’s coming from China and delivery estimated at 30-45 days. Can’t wait to get it
@@OOnti-dz4jd Its been 2months. Has your San Martin 62 Mas arrived yet. Just curious
