The reason the drums set there own tempo sort of naturally is because the drummer refused to use a metronome for most songs, and went off tempo

there are 2 guitars playing different parts in to the end

I'm very late and someone probably already said it, but Matt Pelissier (drummer) refused to use a metronome when recording H,TMIBEFTOU, that's why it sounds so disconnected from the rest.

The drummer of My Chemical Romance was matt pelisser also known as the first drummer from 2001 - 2004, he's a beast on the drum and my favourite of his drumming is demolition lovers

There was never a record like this before Black Parade and there has not been one since. It's a transformative masterpiece.

My favorite part about mcr is that Gerard is very wordy but fortunately so are the guitars! Lol

And if its any consolation ive been a passionate fan since this was in its respective era and i still get some lyrics wrong to this day 😅 😭

MCR is my absolute favorite. They most definitely were one of the most, if not the most, important factor in me crafting my identity as i discovered them as a mature 12 years old and 18 years later this album still hits the same as it did the first time. I cant wait to watch your other reactions to them. I love watching reaction videos because its like showin a friend my biggest nerd subject lol. But rarely do i find a reactor that zooms in and focuses and nerds out about the instrumentation. Thats exactly how my brain works too. This was fantastic

Love how you appreciate how well produced it is. I’ve been listening to this album since the day it came out after hearing demolition lovers. It wraps you in sound, especially the last four songs. By the end of the song you’re surrounded. Also if you listen to the drums they’re very “marching band” style all the way through with how the drum rolls sit in the places they do, which leads in to the black parade album. It’s always going to be a 12/10 album for me.

One of my favorite things (of many because i obsess over them) about MCR is the layering of tracks they do. A huge part of the Black Parade album is the thickness of vocals there are and how it adds to the whole “Parade in the city” kinda thing. In “You Know What They Do to Guys Like Is in Prison” Ray actually recorded both parts of the solo and when layered together they put one part on side coming together to make a fire ass solo. The layering is even more pronounced in the solo for “I’m Not Okay” as I think and it sounds like there’s 3 different parts being played and maybe another repeated part for fullness making 4. But I swear these guys are musical geniuses
