How to Shoot and Edit an Outdoor Campaign Video
Today I'm showing you how to shoot and edit an outdoor campaign video.
This project was epic, we got to shoot out in Taos, New Mexico and ended up with a pretty fun outdoor campaign for Alatar Backcountry Co. I just wanted to share how I shoot and edit a project like this for anyone out there who is looking to do the same!

    Are the non b&w photos edited too or are these the exact colors coming from the camera?

      These are all straight from camera JPGS from FujiXWeekly. The color is mostly the Porta recipe but there are some mixed in there using the Kodachrome 👍🏼

    I would argue that making you slow down is the very reason why it is NOT good for professionals. I also think that beginners would be put off by the weight and size of it, as well as the absence of a suitable means to check their photos and learn while on location. I do think it is a great camera, but more suited to serious amateurs on a budget who value the end result over gimmicks.

    In 2024 the 5D classic gives me what the r6, a 7iv and z6ii can't. The look of the jpgs files are awesome out of the classic.

    I think you touched off a renaissance with your images and observations. The comments reflect this some. After the purchase of my third Canon 5D Classic (I'm afraid the price is going to skyrocket eventually) I've decided enough is enough. It was my first full-frame camera and it caused me to abandon Pentax, the brand I learned on in 1980. I have always said that the sensor on the first 5D is superior, has never really been improved upon, and is film-like to an astonishing degree. Other photographers, younger ones, seem to be waking up to the 5D film-style movement, a return to something simpler. What value the camera truly holds! It is becoming legendary. Anyway, during the video I found myself wondering about your post production. It seems to me that you got film color down really well: muted, natural, lovely tonal nuance. And there is a medium format airiness to the images. Very nice.

    Your photos are very good. I like natural colors, you don't overgrade your shots. Great stuff! I just bought this one yesterday. Again. I once had it for a good 12-13 years, sold it for 5Dmk3, and now I bought it again. I am lucky I found this specimen because it is in a pristine condition, as if it got out of a factory yesterday. I can't wait to go outside now :)

    Nice to see a good photographer talking about a camera and showing some beautiful shots👌🏻. So many youtubers who talks gear and then has got nothing but boring photos to show. I sold my old fujifilm cameras x-pro1 and x100 to get a camera that i could also shoot video with. Now I really miss shooting with those and i’m looking for a cheap second camera. Have you shot with vintage lenses? If so how hard is manually focusing on the 5D classic? Thanks!

    • @emersonsenseman2182
      @emersonsenseman2182 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks so much! And yeah I have a bunch of vintage lenses. I haven’t shot them on my 5D much since I mostly use them for video. Manually focusing on the 5d is totally doable. It will just take practice 👍🏼 if you want to get a cheap camera that shoots video, look into the 5D MKII.

    Thanks for the video - I'm looking at picking one of these myself so it was helpful. Tiny bit of feedback if it's still relevant: the shutter sound when changing photos is REALLY loud, and IMO entirely unnecessary - we know the photo is changing.

    Fantastic video. I am former British military myself (1997-2014) and turned conflict and reportage/documentary photographer when I left the services. I used a 5D classic during a recent 10 month long period in the Ukraine, covering British, German and French volunteer fighters. My main body conked out 4 weeks in, and the old 5D classic was promptly press-ganged back into service for around 3 months until a professional contact of mine in Poland could get a replacement for my main body to me. My go-to at The Guardian (one of the quality daily papers back home in Britain, who showed much of my work from this foray), my exhibition editor and overall series editor didn't ask what the work was shot on. I always tell aspiring professionals, if you're pixel peeping, fumbling for more gear and generally obsessing over gear (the what) rather than concentrating on getting the image (the why), you're still an amateur; simple as that. The only people who care about what equipment you're shooting on are other amateurs and the CEOs and marketing/advertising teams for the top brands. Great video, thoroughly enjoyed tuning in for this and glad to have stumbled across your videos.

    Can anyone tell me what's wrong with my 5D? It worked fine the other day, but now, when I take a picture, the screen only shows vertical, colored lines. I tried different lenses, batteries, etc... But same results. Everything else is working like normal, but every picture just shows the same screen of vertical lines. You can't see the image I took at all.
