The hasbro pke sounds are very annoying if you put your ear to the speaker you can hear the music/ score from the movie. Hasbro couldn't even get the proper sounds themselves so they tried to isolate them but you can still hear the films background audio noticed it on mine about 20 mins after having it 😂

If you put the hasbro trap in the extended sequence mode the trap has the delayed opening like in Afterlife and frozen empire and a different start opening sound if you then leave the trap open for about 8-10 seconds then shut the trap it will do the ghost trapped sequence where the bar graph lights up and the red lights blink and a ghost will start making sounds as if you have trapped it. And if you trap that ghost and hit the pedal again right after you have trapped it the trap will open again with no lights and the ghost sounds will play as if it is escaping.

While I recognise that the Haslab one is better made and probably a lot more hard wearing, the Matty Trap has that sweet rumble feature that looks and sounds like a ghost trying to get out. And I prefer the multicolored animation from the Matty trap. It’s tons of fun and it’s a shame that the Haslab doesn’t have that. It does have about twenty different ghost sounds, but how many do you need?!

I'm still super confused as to why the trap closing doesn't trigger an actual capture sound on either trap. Like where's the panic noises of the ghost being pulled in? I want to hear Slimer or the Scoleri's like you do in the movies yelping as they get pulled down into the trap

Great review. There is an extended trapping mode on the Haslab FYI, though I do agree the Matty one is cooler.

ive seen people saying that haslabs trap still looks "cheap" and that its "too expensive for what it is" and that just blows my mind how anyone could ever think like that, sure the trapping sequence isnt excatly right but aside from that they blew everything mattel did out the water

I missed the Matty trap back then so this Haslab trap has been quite exciting. Also the Haslab trap does have alternate modes including an extended trapping sequence if you mess with the knobs on the front.

I agree with you, I never owned the Matty Trap and this is my first time really seeing it in action, it seems a lot better in terms of effects.

Like previously mentioned, the "play" factor of the matty is hands down more cooler. Also the suspension whether the ghost is in there or not is more closer to the gb1 movie when they catch slimer. The beeping is also way longer on the matty. Ok the hasbro one looks better but like you said the electronics are a bit meh. And why oh why did hasbro got the lights wrong when the trap closes, there is only 1 scene we see it going from left to right (like on the matty) and yet hasbro failed on that one.... Now one might argue that you can "easily" fix that but that couldn't be the point now, would it? You don't buy a new car and have to re wire the turning lights yourself now, same thing...

I was initially put off by the size of the P.K.E. meter but having handled it for a few days it has really grown on me. Especially having got used to the quirks of using it manually. EMF mode just goes crazy on mine so maybe my house is full of ghosts!

Thanks for doin this review! I definitely agree. Hasbro dropped the ball on the effects. It feels like they spent so long trying to get the look down perfectly that they forgot to actually include proper effects. Yeah we get the 12 different ghosts but when the opening & closing effects are so overall boring. It loses that magic. I still prefer the overall look & feel of the hasbro one. Its just so hefty & nice

I agree re: main trap sequence. Hasbro dropped the ball on that. Especially given all the ghost sounds on the hasbro trap, would have worked a treat with the rocking/shaking trap bit. I do wonder if there was some sort of patent/legalise that prevented Hasbro copying the sequence/rocking function. I will say the other ghost capture mode is pretty cool tho on the Hasbro, where if you open the trap a 2nd time the ghost escapes.

Surely the smoke effect device coming out of the trap would be a great addition! The EMF function in the PKE Meter is also interesting! The fact that they added a K2-style electromagnetic field sensor inside the device was an original idea! 👌👻🚫

You can use the pke. As a remote for the trap, there are tons of hidden and secret features which are popping up on TH-cam and Reddit

YAY YOU FINALLY GOT YOURS!! I got mine on the 15th and its epic. I added some paint jobs to it, but they are great!!

I prefer the Matty sequence too, and the ghost noises need to have a shutoff! Man... it drives me nuts. Never stops. The build and features... well, they just don't compare... so I'll wait for a new mod board from one of the usual suspects, and I'll make it amazing on all levels.

When you are on the extended ghost mode, you have to wait a few seconds before stepping on the pedal again to get the full trap sequence. Quick mode is immediate trap sequence when closing.

I think the trap is leagues better than the Matty one. Biggest complaints are the weak handle, backwards bar graph, and inaccurate capture sequence
