Greetings to everyone, bored_tech is here!
My main occupation is an AV technician and I work in the events industry across the UK and Internationally. In early 2020 when the world was struck by a global pandemic and the whole events industry stood still, I was temporarily out of work and I was so bored that I decided to start a this Channel.
When I was a teenager, I used to love watching TV series like “How Stuff Works” on the Discovery channel. Inspired by these shows I thought that there might be people who were curious about what was inside the home cinema equipment and who were interested in how it worked.
So I took my Blu-ray player then the AV pre-amplifier and the receiver and made my first teardown videos. I was surprised how much attention these videos received. That motivated me, so I bought a few more units which I used to produce more teardown videos. I’m happy to produce more videos but at this point I want you to help me.

VUE West End Review: Leicester Square London
Well thank you a really good video 🙏🏼🙋♂️🙌🏻 I just got one of those but it’s skipping tracks while playing. Do you think this is because of the laser or of the mechanism itself? Thank you.
I've only been to this supercreen once and I wasn't all that impressed. It seemed to me that the audio system wasn't being properly monitor or calibrated and the bass was very disappointing. I don't believe the system was working correctly on the day but the problem is no one seems to be checking this. The great thing about IMAX and Dolby Cinema is they seem to be properly monitored and are reliable.
Hi, i would really appreciate your help. I have the same projector but a few days ago it started displaying a blue vertical line on the far left of the screen. ¿What do you think could be the problem or what do you suggest I do to fix it?
And if the disc gets scratched?
Does Inside Out 2 played in IMAX Leonberg?
Teaser #2
Enjoyed your video immensely
Comments like yours motivates me to produce more content for the channel. Thanks for watching!
Cool, I look forward to the video.
Hope you like it!
Wow, can't wait.
I’m glad that there is interest in Cinerama. Will do my best to finish the video as soon as I can.
You are welcome for the Idea. I love the Cinerama at Bradford.
Indeed, Pictureville is a very cozy cinema.
This is probably not the right forum for this, but does anyone know where I can find one of these. Been scouring the internet and it's almost like the silver version never existed.
I remember when I was a kid going to the Michael Todd Theater in Chicago to see movies projected in Cinerama, like How The West Was Won .
waiting for this video !
Thanks, I’ll be working on it hard.
I need this video in my life.
Glad that this topic is interesting for the audience.
Looking forward for the full video
Trying my best to finish it as soon as I can.
You are the best, Love from India!
Thank you Mr.Batman. Glad that someone watching my videos in India.
Thank you Kim.
As always you are most welcome. It’s going to be one more video before the Cinerama.
This was really inspiring to see. I hope to make something similar.
Glad you liked it. I have added three more units recently. So now the shelf takes whole height of the room.
Nooo not this baby!😵💫🤦
Don't worry, I know what I'm doing 😁
Great videos i saw that you put them back together. I restore vintage equipment 😊. Great job👍
This is crazy... So much dedication and work, and first part of the QC process is to throw the header of the reel on the floor. Lets pick up some dust to this fresh new reel. :O :O
Particular film reel that you see in this video is just a dummy.
They seriously need an ESATA to USB 3 adapter!
Possible, but usually it's done overnight, so it is plenty of time to ingest the content.
@@boredtech I'm just slightly surprised. Yeah overnight no problem. I do ads for my local 1920s theater and sometimes the DCPs are in the 10GB+ range and I think we're downloading over USB 2.0. although I wouldn't be surprised if the front USB ports are not even 2.0. I was reading something that suggested our system had an optional 3.0 card that could be added. But I wouldn't be surprised if the hole play out system ends up getting replaced at some point, just have to keep it kicking along.
Just One trip and you meet god
Particular lamp that you see has been de-gassed, so it's safe. To carry the real one you will have to wear a Kevlar PPE.
I have a Yamaha R-S300 (50 wpc @ 8 ohms) receiver, hooked up to a pair of massive JBL L-100 floor speakers & a sub-woofer, (which drives them all handily with ease & power, btw) & I can honestly say it sounds no different than my 125 wpc @ 8 ohms McIntosh tube amp (which I also own). I also did a bench test on the R-S300 & it easily measured out a whopping 80-85 wpc @ 8 ohms on the wattage meter....30-35 wpc above the advertised power rating!! I highly recommend any model Yamaha amp/receiver over the Sony, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, even the Marantz ANY day of the week !!!
I wished i was born in the early 80s in the UK to see a movie at a Warner Cinema. Then as I got older, I would convinced WB to advertise more of these theaters outside UK, Germany, and Italy. Maybe Ireland, Scotland, India, France, America, Latin America, even China. Japan has Warner Mycal and Spain had Warner Lusumundo.
It would be great to experience original Warner or THX cinema. On the other hand latest IMAX with LASERS, DOLBY CINEMA or BARCO HDR can provide exceptional performance.
Hello. I know its an old video but I suddenly have a problem with my dcd1550ar. While it reads discs out of nowhere jumps songs, returns to previous ones etc. CDs are in mint condition. What you think is the problem? Thanks
Why taking apart a perfectly working unit. SHAME.
To see how it works. Also it's 110V, there's no use of it in the UK.
@boredtech i get it but you can either use a transformer or sell it Give it to someone who can use it! And it will give it a second life.
Thanks for this video. My remarks regarding the player are as follows: 1. Penny-pinching on the grand scale. Why? Plastic front panel, and flimsy tray. Regarding performance, It can't display track name when playing SACD, to begin with. Not only on unit's display, but on TV either. Rather shameful. Also, while playing a quad AVCHD, it mixed channels to stereo. Same with quad MLP. Why is that, I don't know. All in all DVD-2910 is streets ahead in all aspects.
I’ve been only going to West End since your first comparison video. Are you thinking to add more reviews in the future? I’ve been curious about the Battersea Dolby Cinema, what do you think about that one? I trust your judgement
I saw it in Victoria B.C. Canada
Nice, was it on film or digital?
In the old cinema before the refit sitting in the front row of the royal circle had the best view of the screen it angled slightly upwards to give a better view from the circle not sure if the screen is smaller than it used to be
Bored interesting
Nice!
Hi! Did you find sitting in the stalls better than sitting in the royal circle? I've always sat in the royal circle and feel like it's a bit "far" from the screen.
Can you turn the Pango Kaboom series episode christmas into 16mm th-cam.com/video/VZwObGV_1w8/w-d-xo.html
Brilliant video👍
Thanks for watching!
@boredtech - In case you’ve missed this info… Superscreen at Cineworld, Leicester Square has recently been upgraded. New Harkness screen plus the latest Barco HDR projector. It is one of only 6 such sites worldwide and the first outside of the U.S. to have this projector installed. Please can you make a video tour review and also tell us how you think it compares with Dolby Cinema at Odeon Luxe, West End in terms of HDR quality. Thank you for your consideration.
Thanks for pointing that out. Need to write a request to Cineworld.
@ My man! 👍🏻

I owned a Marantz AV7005 and I'm wondering if you know what causing a loud thump sound on my speaker when watching movies and listening to music with heavy bass ? Bought a brand new speakers and cables too but it keeps on doing a loud thump . My prepro and amplifier is only . 3years old . I'm suspecting it's the processor because the sound is ok at first but after few minutes when the bass starts it will thump like a heartbeat sound. Please help. Thank you in advance.
Fascinating Video Thank you 🙂
Thank you for watching, glad you enjoyed it!
DTS is also still used on 35mm occasionally.
Possible other laboratories using it, need to check that.
@ It’s become pretty rare and projectionist have been complaint about that for a while but Oppie did get DTS on the 35mm prints.
So interesting! What an artwork the whole process is
Oh yes, completely agree with you.
Great video!!! I really hope someone is able to reverse engineer this optical printer for diy enthusiasts that shoot 16mm and S8mm. It would be so cool to not only scan vision3 stock for digital but also print on positive stock to then project! I’ve been home processing my own super 8 film and am in the process of building a DIY frame by frame scanner but I’d love to go to the next level and actually print! 🤞🎞️
I can only imagine how expensive that would be lol.
@Greenlightmike33 thank you for your support, really appreciate it! I heard that in Germany there is a company that can print 16mm as well as Super8.
3:01 Wow, I thought they only made cheap, crappy flashlights, and other As Seen On TV garbage.
Not sure that I understand the train of you thoughts.
@ , today, the name Bell & Howell is mostly associated with selling inexpensive, mediocre quality flashlights, lanterns, and yard lights, at home improvement stores, online, and through tv advertisements. I was unaware of their former glory as an important supplier of many different film and media technologies, such as the one you featured in your video.
@@ericcarabetta1161 Oh, I got it now. We just don't have any of their products here in the UK. Another company with followed similar path is PHILIPS. Once it was an electrics giant, and look at their brand now 😞.
It's great that this technology still exists. I note they said "we believe there is only one of these machines still working" but they should have added "and you are looking at it".
Cinelab indeed are the keepers of the film craft in the UK.
4:34 I thought he said the N-word !!!!!
You have really twisted hearing. Please refer to subtitles.
That is so interesting Kim. I simply did not want this video to end. It has got to find a large audience so I will do what I can to help make that so. John.
Glad you liked it. Hoping to do 5/70 or maybe even 15/70 film print one day.
@@boredtech If CineLab process 15/70 then a video of that just prior to the actual film being screened in cinemas could potentially be huge. A lot always depends on the film itself though. My latest is just about to go live. Stand by...
Unfortunately they can't do 15/70 prints. They can develop 70mm though. To capture 15/70 film print being made I'll have to go to California.
FotoKem Laboratory, Burbank (CA), USA - That's where Interstellar and Oppenheimer prints were made.
@@boredtech You'd better start sorting that trip to Califonia out then Kim!
Fast approaching 20K subscribers my friend…
Fingers crossed!
Looking forward to this video. Thank you Kim.
I'm sure you will enjoy watching it!
