Late August Garden Tour🌸 Working on problem areas in the garden. New plants!
Hello everyone! Hope you’re all doing well. In this video I will be walking around my back garden, highlighting which flowers/plants are doing well,
and some that are struggling.
Also in this video, I will be noting some of the spots/areas that I’ve been working on all season. They are coming along but still more work to be done. I hope these changes will translate into a much better garden in 2025. Thank you for watching!❤️

I was away from home for about 2 weeks, returned to a JUNGLE!😂 Lots of maintenance and upkeeping to restore my garden to its “normal” state. Bought some new plants to replaced the plants that had died during my absence. Also, adding some new annuals to bring more colours to my backyard. After roughly 2 weeks of some TLC, my garden is starting to look much better. Can’t wait to see how it will l...

One of my favourites in the garden - lavenders!💜 They are extremely heat and drought-tolerant flowering plants. Super low maintenance as well. Gorgeous colour that mess well with almost everything. What’s not to love about them…lol! If you don’t already have them planted in your garden, I highly recommend!

Your garden is so gorgeous! So glad I found your channel! Deanna
Lovely
I like seeing what you interplant with your roses. The phlox look like lovely companions. What other companions do you use? Thanks for your help.
@@health.bites.5615 I general will plant different type of plants around my roses, and this may change from season to season. I find roses look good with most flowers:)
I love your roses! I'm just getting into them. I have 10 of them--mostly David Austin roses. How do you deal with insect pressure?
@@health.bites.5615 So far I have tried my best not to use any chemicals in my garden. I get Japanese Beetles but for the last 2 seasons they have been manageable. I remove them by hands. I spray water when I get aphids. These have not been too bad as well. Which pests do you deal with?
Lovely
Wow that was incredible! It looks amazing! loving how it turned out :)
@@missprettyplants7217 Thank you!
Beautiful
@@birdsbegformore Thank you!
how do you get rid of grass on the small stone road?
@@YRzone8a I have not had any issues with grass growing on the stone paths. When I redesigned my backyard I got rid of all of the grass. Before laying down the stones and pebbles I covered the ground with landscape fabric which I think has helped to prevent any grass from growing back.
O my gosh! I want your hydrangea tree 🥰
I did not expected it to grow quite this big...lol! My neighbour in the back says she's so glad I planted it in that spot because the blooms hang over to her side:)
BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL GARDEN ❤
You asked about the rose borer. The only way to prevent it is to seal the ends of the cane where you cut. I told you the product to use in a previous video comment.
I bought this from Amazon Bonide Garden Rich Pruning Sealer with Brush Top Applicator. The rose geek uses it, so that is how I found out about it.
Are most of your plants grown in pots
@@angelaanderson5360 All of the plants that are placed in the center are grown in pots.
Beautiful colors in the garden! Thanks for the tour.

Greetings! I enjoyed seeing your garden and roses! They are wonderful! 😍🥰👍 Morden Blush, I'm not sure about the purchase... 🤔 I invite you to visit my garden and my roses!🍰☕️
@@Roses.Villa_Serenity Thank you so much!🥰 I have 2 Modern Blush in my garden. It’s a very good bloomer, pretty much blooms all summer but it does tend to suffer from black spots.
@@ContainerGardeningWithAmy Thanks for answer 😀

Beautiful tour. I had to turn off the volume because it drove me crazy that you were referring to flowers as she. It would sound better. Just saying.
Wow! Is it just one plant or are there multiple plants climbing?
@@annann-fn2zi There is actually 2 climbing roses growing into one another: Jasmina and New Dawn. But, the majority of the blooms you see is from Jasmina, darker pink. New Dawn is soft pink, and it’s mainly at the very top.
@@ContainerGardeningWithAmy thank you! It’s gorgeous ! I have just one Jasmina in my garden. It’s still a baby. Can’t wait for it to grow like yours🌝
You should try Max Sea fertilizer for your roses. It makes your roses bloom back to back 😊
Do you know what variety that large pink rose of sharon is that doesn't self seed?
@@puzzlecanes Sorry, I don’t. I planted it over 15 years ago. Back then I did not keep any tags:(
I have the same problem with the rose cane borer. I bought this from Amazon Bonide Garden Rich Pruning Sealer with Brush Top Applicator. The rise geek uses it so that is how I found out abouts it.
Doesn't look that pretty but works.

@@dtowndeidre5177 Thank you!❤️
Gorgeous! Maybe you're missing some dark foliage? Perhaps a laced up elderberry, spilled wine weigela, edge of night hardy hibiscus, 0r a ninebark of some sort?
@@rebeccaolson4819 Thanks for the suggestion!❤️
Wow 🪻🌷
Can’t pass up a deal on plants! 🪴 😂
Your garden is gorgeous! 😍 I love the colours everywhere. My suggestion, if it's to your taste, would be to have strategically placed or planted lower-level evergreen interest to allow visual rest for your eyes. Some examples are Fire Chief Arbovitae, Liitle Gem Norway Spruce, Anna's Magic Ball... I find that helps to bring balance and could possibly fix that feeling you have about this year's garden. 💚
@@eugenyah Thank you for the feedback and suggestions.❤️ ❤️❤️

I have a 72 count tray of fox glove seedlings growing now to be planted out here soon for next season. They are so gorgeous.
@@puzzlecanes I too, love foxgloves!
I am surprised you still have foxgloves blooming. Mine all bloomed in may. Did you start them from seed?
@@puzzlecanes I was quite surprised these bloomed for me first year. I did start these from seeds indoor, then planted out when the temps was warm
Your garden is stunning💕
@@lynsiebringans4497 Thank you!❤️
To grow bee balm without powdery mildew you need to start spraying with BT as the plants start coming up and continually after rain most of the season, at least until the flowering is well underway. I also pulled individual plants to keep airflow. I would not plant bee balm (at least most varieties) again, but I already have some, they’re beautiful, and the hummingbirds love my red ones.
@@laurac56 These were from my neighbour’s garden. I have stopped growing them many years ago. Too much work to keep them! Thank you for the tips!❤️
Too much rain? The lower leaves indicate overwatering. Lovely plant.
@@greenbrain8725 These are from my neighbour’s garden. They are planted in well ventilated area, should not have THAT much issues with powdery mildew but they covered in it. It’s too bad. Such a lovely plant.
@@ContainerGardeningWithAmy yes, it’s too bad because it is a lovely plant attracting bees and hummingbirds. I’ve never seen such a mass planting of that flower. I just have a small clump, and it usually only lasts 2-3 years. But no mildew.
Whats size pot have you got your Rudbeckia in? I picked up a couple towards the end of last season. They didn't seem to do very well. I'm wondering if it was just the pot size. As they were in a full sun position
@@kenji2065 Hi, I just potted them to larger size pots, in various sizes, whatever I had on hand. I was finding they dried out way too fast in their original nursery pots. Let’s hope they do well this season and will overwinter for me in pots🤞🏼
Looking at this beautiful rose makes me realise I made the right decision. I bought 2 for an arch a month ago, I still haven’t seen the flowers. 🌷
@@evemarga1791 Jasmina took about 2-3 years to get established for me, but this year she’s stunning. I think you’ll love yours!
I love the riot of color. I do multi-colors in my south facing backyard and patio, and green foliage and light cool colors in my north facing front. Best of both worlds.
@@laurac56 I’m sure both of your gardens look amazing:)
