Bach Prelude n 12 in F minor BWV 857 Pianoteq
The key of F- minor - sombre both by its minor character, and by its position on the undertone side of the fundamental scale (key of the under-third of A minor) - yet, standing in close relationship to the fundamental
major scale (C), and commanding the C- major chord as
dominant, it receives a consoling ray of light - is one
of the most melancholy of keys. It does not express
sorrow as deep as that of Eb-minor, nor passion as
morbid as that of C#- minor, but it is impregnated with
deeper feeling, greater solemnity, pensiveness, introspection,
than almost any other key. Its near relationship to C major
(the F-minor- chord is the counter- clang, the Antipodes
of the C-major-chord) gives to it the character of
one standing in the world, yet with averted eyes. Quiet
and unerring he advances with head erect through the
crowd, intently surveying everything, but, like a true
philosopher, not heeding small things.
The characteristic elements of the prelude are a motive
wandering slowly along in uniform crotchets (for the
most part simultaneously, in two voices) and, in opposition
to it, and lighting up its countenance, an expressive semiquaver
figuration interspersed with significant (accented)
rests. The piece is, for the most part, written strictly à 4

It's a prelude that offers a comfortable read, but at the same time it's a prelude that can create traps during the game, and you've done very well. @Andre.Barbosaa You're absolutely right André! This has been the trickiest Prelude I've played so far... it seems easy but at speed the trill on one hand also slowed down the other and it was an ugly effect to hear.... anyway, this one is done too. I would like to ask you for an advice: I wanted to get a new instrument on pianoteq to record romantics (Chopin, Schumann, Brahms) what do you recommend between Bosendorfer and Shigeru Kawai?
@ Dear Carmelo, regarding pianos, I have only used the Steinway D on the Pianoteq so far. I haven't been able to try others yet. So I always used the Steinway, whether for baroque, classical or romantic music. However, a short time ago, a pianist gave me feedback regarding the new Shigeru Kawai and Bösendorfer. According to her, the feeling of the Kawai is very satisfying, because the feeling is lighter and resembles a real piano. However, she said that the Bösendorfer is still better, it sounds better. I apologize for not being able to give you more detailed feedback, dear Carmelo, but I hope I can still help a little. Many greetings and all the best!

I used the Steinway for Bach/Handel and the Petrof for Purcell and other Baroque composers. Beautifully played dear Carmelo! It's hard to describe the mood of this fugue! Being in a minor key, it would suggest a sad mood, but this wasn't really the case with this fugue. To me, it was more neutral, nonetheless powerful and deep!❤👏🏻

Thank you very much André for your comment! I tried to give my best in this masterpiece. As a boy I loved muscular music: the romantic and late romantic music of Chopin, Liszt, Scriabin and Rachmaninoff. I played a lot of it and I was bored by the classics, I loved that music that exploits the expressive potential of the piano to the maximum. Today I prefer tranquility to virtuosity, Baroque polyphony to transcendental studies. Am I getting old? Who knows, today it is like this and I have a lot of fun. Greetings to sunny Brasil.

I played for 10 years as a kid from 10 to 20. Then I didn't touch the piano anymore because I had university, then work, then family then children. I started again at 50 years from beginning: first Bach preludes, Inventions, Symphonies, French Suites and now the WTC I.... I love Bach Music !
