"Nosferatu' is a parody of 'Dracula'" - huh? No sir, it's not a 'parody' of anything at all...If you're referring to the 1922 classic film it's certainly not a parody of Dracula - Murnau and company were unable to secure the rights for 'Dracula' so they used the ancient Eastern European word for 'vampire' - 'nosferatu' - for the title of his film "Did you know there's a cowboy from Texas in Dracula? that's a crazy character to have in a Dracula book" - triple huh? Bram Stoker (not 'Stroker') actually wrote 'Dracula', the first and only book with that title so he had the creative liberty to have cowboys, plumbers, belly dancers, or any other characters he felt inspired to write into his book. As another commentator said I too admire your enthusiasm and appreciate the effort - your work might benefit by more research and understanding of the subject

N '79 is one of the very FEW remakes that I actually like (along with Invasion of Body Snatchers 78, The Thing 82, and Scarface 83). In fact, I think its really pathetic that THAT movie is over forty years old and remains generally overlooked, while that NEW one got hyped through the freaking roof before it was even released.

The original nosferatu has different coloured tints on it. They couldnt film at night due to the logicistics of lighting and fairly primitive cameras so what they did was film everything dyring the day and then would put a blue tint over the scenes. A lot of the releases on youtube omit these which causes confusion

Orlok speaks Old Dacian in this, which is the native language to the region that would eventually become modern day Romania. Language was suplanted by Latin around 500AD. Why would he speak german at all if even the characters that are supposed to speak it in the movie, don't?

what about Nosferatu in Venice?

I love the movie and the idea of a movie where the vampire is related to the occult and demonology. This movie effectively delivered on this type of story. Nosferatu is a monster (in fact considered to be the undead plague carrier) and is primal in his motivation. He is death. He is a manifestation of ba'al the demon. His connection to Ellen and his motivation to seek her out is simply because of her psychic / paranormal abilities and this is what drew him to her. Finally, we have a vampire movie that doesn't follow the same old tropes. Vampires should not be sexy and monster movies should not be confused with romance. This is neither of those things.

Stoker, not “Stroker.” Hutter, not “Hunter.” Film historians will know that what looks like the daytime scenes were originally hand tinted with a blue filter to make it appear like night time. I like your enthusiasm, but I really feel like a lot more research could’ve been done before putting together what’s supposed to be a documentary.

Great video, loved the enthusiasm, because this movie was a true gothic horror banger. They actually did not alter Bill Skarsgård's voice as Orlok, he trained his voice with an opera singer and was able to lower it an entire octave for the role. Crazy impressive performance that really embodies a true monster.

My understanding of Ellen and Orlok's relationship is that she's a sleepwalker, and people thought that meant you had natural ties to the occult. Orlok is an occult monster, and in the opening, we see a lonely Ellen calling out in prayer for companionship and wakes Orlok by accident. Her desire for companionship and his animal appetite mingled, and a strange kind of relationship formed, and he rapes her in the opening. He curses her and torments her all her life until she joins a holy union with thomas. When thomas leaves it all starts up again. In the scenes where shes conscious but losing her mind i view as the curse of the nosferatu mingling his animal desire with her. Much like a posession. As far as her wanting it I think it has more to do with him being magical and hypnotic than anything.

There's also a second Nosferatu remake that came out this year on AppleTV back in October starring Doug Jones. It's way less on the radar and many don't know about it because of the studio behind it being indie and the marketing not being so big. Robert Eggers' version basically overshadow it like that sequence in the trailer of Orlok's hand powering over the city (PUN intended). I was shocked to learn about it. I only found out about it a month ago when looking up the Count Orlok actors and came across Doug Jones and was curious to where he played the role. This version was in development even earlier than Robert's take (started in 2017), going back to 2009 I believe.

I’m 50 years old so I have watched many vampire films over the years. When I say this movie is now my favorite vampire film of all time, that’s an understatement! This movie is absolute perfection!!!

Not into modern horror but loves mostly slashers is a take that quickly made me realize I don't need to keep listening for a deep dive into this particular story.

The gravity altering thing is used in a few sonic games. This most likley being the panels and walls from arc in SA2. The death egg stage of sonic 3 if I remember right has a version as well. 2 referential birds with one stone if I'm right. I should know which game for sure but im stoned AF rn about to see it in 4d

What do you want see next for the franchise?

I was both impressed and annoyed by this movie. Being a fan of both Tolkien and Japanese Anime, I was intrigued by the combination of those genres. I really enjoyed the art of this movie. The backgrounds were extremely lush. I enjoyed the combination of straight illustration and different digital techniques. Some scenes reminded me of the 1970s unfinished LOTR animated movie that combined silhouettes of real scenery with standard animation. I also thought the body movements were quite well done. Hera, in particular, was extremely well conceived and animated. Besides the art, the writing was sub standard. The movie started off promisingly enough but the overuse of dialog taken directly from the Lotr movies and adapted, slightly, to be reused in Rohirrum was, frankly, boring and, possibly, lazy. Once the plot moved on from Helm Hammerhand and became completely about Hera, it stalled. Eventually it climaxed completely predictably in keeping with the slightly different regurgitation of the Two Towers plot. I don't know if the terrible writing was because the producers felt the need to rehash the same story or if there was a serious lack of creativity but the result was messy and kind of pointless. I realized that I was supposed to care more about Hera and her Lady In Waiting but I just didn't. I think that sums up my feeling about the entire movie: Despite some really good Japanese style art and a great fantasy world to place the story in, the writing was so poor, I just didn't care about the characters.

As a huge Lotr fan, read all the books and grew up with the movies when they came out. Huge disappointment! Horribly made in terms of animation, didn’t like the style at all, and the very poor writing plus poor voice acting. I was bored and hated it already after the 1st 3-5 minutes. I don’t understand how this got so highly rated. I purely went on the notion that it was Lotr. It didn’t feel lived in. It didn’t feel authentic. It was literally meh! So save your time, and money, and watch the trilogy or the Hobbit as this was trash on par with Rings Of Power. And I’m a POC, LGBTQ+, indigenous and a feminist.

To this day I was not aware that one could think that "Rohan" was how you spell "Rohirrim". Just tell me that English is your second language, because boy... you need excuses.

For my two cents, it's kind of the platonic ideal of the perfectly 'Okay' movie. I'd say go ahead and watch it if you have time to kill. I'm a bit of a Tolkien purist and never saw anything that rustled my jimmies too much, so I expect anyone who's more casually acquainted with the franchise should have a decent enough time.
