We didn't have the amount of death and destruction but four or five years ago now we had a flood in the Ozark mountains specifically the north fork of the white the flood took two of the highway bridges out and totally re distributed the boulders and sediment floated and or destroyed a few houses it completely cleared huge swaths of old growth sycamore trees and left trash and debris twenty feet up in the trees that survived floating that river in subsequent years has been alien nothing is the same and old familiar landmarks will never be the same if they are not gone altogether my prayers are with you and all of Appalachia

Looks like a lot stayed . Tube, kayak., van.
One of my hopes is that insurance companies don't try and take advantage of this and they start to require potential home buyers to get flood insurance when there's a stream/creek or even a river close to the home that would most likely *never* get near the house. Being a realtor, between home prices, interest rates and the potential of having to get flood insurance, people will have one of hell of time affording homes! Everyone better do the right thing in November and vote the RIGHT way! If you think he's a felon, a marxist, a sexist, a racist and every other thing they've said about him, then you need to stop getting your news from where you've been getting it because they're all lies! Something has to change! I hope and pray that everyone affected by this catastrophe get's through this. I'm sure the mental challenges are going to be tough to bear for a lot, so for anyone reading this that is having a hard time, reach out to anyone you know....they'll help!
Thanks for showing us your perspective. So glad you guys made it out unscathed, you have beautiful dogs too who are very well-trained. Nothing like having man's best friend beside you, When you're going through a tough time in life. 🖤

Praying for you, my friend. I just came through Hurricane Milton. Thank God we had no damage, unlike you. Many flooded out and lost homes. A bunch of uprooted trees and downed limbs. Some are still without power and one big change, we haven't had the response from FEMA that we've had in the past. Remember us, we have another hurricane or two right behind Milton. Take care and God bless!

I found your channel because of the storm but stayed for past content and anything else you share along your journey. ☺️ The only thing I’ve seen like this destruction in my lifetime has been Mt. St. Helen’s. I can’t believe all the damage from wind and water! No volcano or lava but the forces ya’ll experienced were much the same and even more widespread. What a well done video, especially inserting pictures of the “before” in locations. Sending love and best wishes to you and your family and community!
@@clancycreations I bet St. Helens was something! Appreciate you Clancy, thank you for being a part of the channel.
Where bouts are you located? I've been watchin others near Chimney Rock. Was the river normally that wide? Awesome that it's running clear now. Do you think the water went over the train bridge? Even with the destruction, i can see the beauty!

Video with dog? I'm in. Algorithms brought your video to me as I was keeping up with our state's worst natural disaster. I rode out hurricanes Fran, Floyd, and Florence with Tropical storm Bertha, which was a whopper, here in Wilmington. Thought we were pegged "hurricane alley", but not even a teardrop compared to our beautiful western mountains disaster. Sending positive vibes only and gratitude for your videos. Pat that dog for me.
@@ballet07 I sure will and thank you.
Its quite ironic that the sky is filled with chemtrails being moved around with EMF which caused all the flooding in the first place. That's what it looks like when its sucking up water and making clouds to go and dump somewhere in the world. The amount of water that fell over there was definitely not a natural occurrence and when you spend as much time as me researching it there's no way to say its not happening. The whole world is being flooded and not many people are showing it apart from the odd channel. Stay safe and we need to get together and stop weather modification because it's weather warfare against us to depopulate us. 💚💛❤️👍
Sending prayers from Upstate, SC. We all came together as a community here. We were landlocked for a while but nothing like what happened up there maybe 30 minutes away. Breaks my heart.
Thank you.
I’m glad you’re okay. I’m in a part of WNC (closer to Cherokee) that had flooding, some landslides, the landscape has changed a bit in the southern end of my county (one creek is now 2 in more than one community), power/phone/internet outages, roads washed out and some people cut off (unless they have horses or ATVs) but the damage is no where near as severe. We got the eye of the hurricane. People saw it go over still fully formed. I know I most certainly didn’t hear that it was going to be comparable to the great flood of 1916 (it was worse) until after flooding had stared and people were already stuck. This was a monster. I have family all over WNC and know several of the areas that were hardest hit. It’s heartbreaking to see.
Great video of what was happening so close to you guys. Please wear protective gear and respirator when doing any more clean up. Unfortunately the Nolichucky River water and mud/silt has been found to be very toxic with many different contaminants including silica. Breathing in the silica in the dust can lead to irreversible lung diseases. Make sure your water source comes from at least 500 feet above the river.
Thank you Linda.
Thanks for posting, it seems like you were very lucky. After working in Swannanoa and surrounding areas last week, I fear this is going to end up worse then Katrina. It was a blessing to see how the communities, churches and local businesses are pulling together as one to provide and rebuild. It's going to be a long haul for sure, and winter is coming for those who don't have a house anymore, shelter is needed. Lots of supplies and volunteers pouring into the area right now which will help save those people and houses that can be saved. Stay safe, and keep projecting the truth.. So many want to politicize this event which doesn't really help those in need. Communities will need physical and mental help as they are all walking around with the "1000 foot stare". You don't have to travel far to find someone who lost someone or something major in their life.
Good advice in the opening minute. Live across the river from ya, just ran across the channel last week. Great stuff man, keep it up!
@@JustDanielStuff Good deal, appreciate it Daniel.

The outstanding thing is your resilience, you get up and carry right on. You've obviously been working your butt off. I appreciate seeing your surroundings through your eyes with your lovely dogs, it is still lovely and will be beautiful in no time once the clearing has been done. Nature takes over very quickly. One tricky thing is where the river and mudslides have taken over property, not sure how that works out for those poor landowners. God bless you and your fam ❤
@@debby705 Thank you Debby. I've been wondering the same about those landslides. Take care.

Need to add East Tennessee to your title-appreciate this video-but there is nothing holy about s-t …just a grandmother’s opinion. My mama was from Tennessee and my daddy was a West Virginia hillbilly-one of the smartest men who ever lived. He also knew how to survive. I am so glad they didn’t have to go through this devastating event. We had our cedar tree farm demolished but so blessed that our house survived here in South Carolina 🇺🇸
All I can say, is actually here seeing all of this is so unreal , compare to watching the videos. Many bridges are damaged crossing the Nolichucky River. Two days ago I went riding toward the Davy Crockett Camp Ground and like nothing is there , just a field of knee deep of mud & the historical cabin of Davy Crockett is gone !!! Enjoyed your video coverage of the area !
I love your video and hearing you tell the truth is heart felt first time watching your channel and I will definitely be watching more your a good man keep up the hard work

You mountain people are tougher than rawhide. Takes more than a hurricane to scare ya. "Here's a bear!" "You ain't gittin any o my food, bear" It was amazing seeing that bridge gone though. Hearing that debris hitting those pilons I knew it was a matter of time though. Yes, you can hear it in the video. BOOM!
