2017: A light-hearted look at stuff. For a start, that involves a mig welder I bought with a problem, and a sailing boat. Not in the same vid. That would be very silly.
Goodness only knows where it will lead but I'll try to keep a healthy helping of humour within the content.
I wouldn't dream of trying to make money from TH-cam because that would take away all the fun. Primarily, I try to be informative; comments and feedback make the fun.
You won't see much of me on these vids. I am 60, and as I don't care to see close ups of other middle aged blokes nasal hair, I assume nobody wants to see mine.
2021: Gordon Bennett! Doesn't time fly when you're enjoying yourself? I'll be 65 soon so trying to see what I can get cheap. You get to see my mug sometimes now as I think it improves the presentation slightly. Not close enough to see nasal hair though. Still making no money from it and no intention to do so. Just bought a new SJ6 Legend to replace the old M20 which packed up.

We thought we would try one of these as there's just the two of us. I was very positive when I got the delivery but you'll see I was soon as disappointed as a lot of other people who try them. A lot of reviews of these cheap, blower barbeques mention what seems to be a common problem - the blower fan actually failing to blow.

Helpful video, will have a go at no.4 plug on mine now!
I bought the same in March 2023. I think the model number is Cannon CD67G0CCX.
One more thing...crazy stupid volvo people...
Thanks mate...best solution ever...you did this 5 years ago...see its still helping people.
Yes and it's a nice feeling. Thanks for the comment.
Is it possible to charge the battery with an external charger but through the crocodile type cables?
Yes it is, it's what I do.
Another great video Floyd, like your solution for the steam pipe. Will do similar but in stainless and tig weld. You are correct about the difficulties in bending copper pipe. Think your doing a good job with your build. Kind regards, David.
Thank you David, good luck. I sometimes wish I had kitted up for tig but I couldn't justify it now.
This was very good tutorial, thanks!
Pls how can i charge my gas ignition battery...bought in thrift market &comes without plug..pls help me.
There is no battery, the ignition spark comes through the mains.
This is so sweet 😭😭
Legend, Iv just done it on my xc90 2.4 d5 2014 and works perfectly. Thank you 👍
Great! 5 years on and still helping people; very satisfying.
Excellent video, you've certainly put it to good use! Bought one in 2019 "used" from Ebay for £200 box had been opened and it was all there but had never been used, got signed up for a large cylinder, full size regulator and a rotameter (ball in a glass tube) flow meter to accurately set flow. It’s certainly paid for itself! Only issue is I mostly weld outside (garage full of motorbikes and kitcar) and gass blows away and get crappy welds if thre is anything more than a light breeze- might have a try with flux cored wire if it'll take it , Daves garage Mk 1 Escort swears by it. Take care!
Hi Neil, Thanks for the kind comment. Great that you're getting good value from yours. I can hardly believe this video is 7 years old now! I'm still getting great use out of mine. The only thing I've had to replace is the shroud which I burnt through my own mistake. That said, it still worked even with chunk missing!
By the way that 7 you built looks great, hope you are still enjoying it!😊
@@neiljarvis8911 Ah, that's another story altogether! I built that around 1996 to 1998 and sold it when they brought in the SVA. Quite an experience and maybe the subject of another video as I recently found the videos I shot at the time. I sold it to a guy who was a scrap dealer near Atherstone, Warwickshire although not for scrap, he wanted it for his son. The guy has since passed away and I have no idea where it is now.
@@floydraser4603@floydraser4603 I put an AK427 through the SVA and managed to get it through first time, somehow? I bet you would like your 7 replica back now? Not easy to trace though!
We have a 2007 Coachman which we have toured for twelve years now. In that time the rear lights have done exactly as yours have. The main issue has been the two large cracks at the front above the centre window that are now 2mm wide and run from the window seal up to the gutter. In addition to these severe cracks there are around ten to fifteen hairline cracks around various exterior joints, mostly where the rear panel joins the roof. Other than these (that I'm now dealing with) the caravan has been great. I don't think the quality issue is unique to Coachman, I've seen three year old Buccaneer caravans with cracks and issues.
Those lights are a very poor product. I don't really want to write this down but: I haven't had a problem with my lights since I did the last modification. There, that's invited disaster! 🥴 We now have cracks in the kitchen window which I have repaired with glue. It doesn't look good but then normally people don't get close enough to notice and even if they did it wouldn't bother me. I priced up a replacement and without going through it all again to check: the replacement "glass" was ridiculously expensive and a complete replacement unit was only around £25 more! We have refitted one of the front side windows and it wasn't as bad a task as we thought it would be. We used clear Sikaflex EBT to seal it - available from Screwfix - and this season I have used the same stuff to go round all the other windows, having first removed the excess of the original stuff which started as white, but was by now very mucky!
Hi floyd, would you be able to change glow plugs for my corsa? how to contact you?
No chance at all.
I just found your channel and I have to go back to part 1 and follow up on your work on the Simplex. I purchased a started one with a boiler many years ago and wish I had had your advise about getting something done every week, it might be finished now. I also would be interested in joining your club for folks who don't like clubs. Dick B. USA
Hi Dick, Thanks for the comment. I hope I've motivated you into cracking on with it. As for the club - so you wish to be in at the beginning eh? Well as soon as a retired solicitor (ok, lawyer 🙂) comes along I'll let you know. All the best.
Floyd, I am so pleased that you have decided to carry on making your video's. They are a great help with my Simplex rebuild. Some good problem solving and ideas. Kind Regards, David.
Thank You ever so much! I really appreciated your walk through, so a spanner like me can understand it. Best wishes to you and your loved ones 😅
Thank you for the very kind comment. I'm pleased it was of some help. Kind regards.

how would you repair the metal washer bit that holds the bolt for height changing?
If you mean the circlip holding the knob on, I would think you have to compress the spring so the shaft sticks out while you replace the circlip?
@@floydraser4603 thanks i didnt know it was called a circlip!
I love mine. Works so great I didn't realize I even had one until recently.
Floyd, I used an (IRWIN 1602L3 Visegrip 4in Long Nose Plier £15 @ Amazon) to grip the shaft near the barrel and then a large flat head screwdriver in the gap to extend the shaft. I then released the plier and clamped it closer to the barrel again and repeated this process 3 times till the shaft extended to final tightness. This saved using an assortment of spanners.
That's great thanks. I'll try that if I have to do it again.
Hi Floyd The reason this Delphi Technologies document is so confusing is because it has an error in the text. The text should read "Screw the socket ANTI-CLOCKWISE so that the groove for the clip emerges - Install Clip. The image the text refers to shows anti-clockwise rotation of the barrel. Using (right hand rule of thumb) clockwise rotation is indicated by your fingers when your right hand thumb points at the clock face. I used a mole grips to hold the barrel whilst using a13mm spanner to rotate the shaft to losen it. Later I used the 13mm spanner to hold the shaft still whilst I rotated the barrel anti clockwise.
Thanks a lot, it works exactly as you said! The brake works again!

You replaced it at the right time, they fixed the bottom oven for the sixth time then did something to the top oven which broke a week later and took two weeks to get fixed which has only lasted for four days. Little did I know whirlpool is just a name plate as whirlpool hotpoint is owned by the owners of the beko group. I found that out doing research. This cooker replaced a new world and the new world replaced the blomberg by beko which seemed to break down every week.

We had a blomberg version of the becko your getting and the ignition and light switch kept melting.
Oh dear, I'll keep a watch on that, thanks.
Ours has gone 5x in a year and a half 3x under warranty and now will be the 2x out of warranty. Seems the bottom oven breaks down every 3-5months.
So how does it get fixed each time, do they fix it or do you get the parts yourself?
@@floydraser4603 three times were under warranty the 4th time had to be paid for like the 5th repair next week will be , its broken down as much as the blomberg beco one atleast the new world in between lasted three years until it turned the electric grill on by itself setting itself on fire.
@@CSP2023 Sounds like a job for BBC Watchdog. Doesn't each repair have it's own warranty period of 12 months?
Great review of the hold and side view. Just bought a pair for birding.
April 2024 Update: After the pratting around caused by the puncture mentioned below I found that the awning is stable with the pressure at just 4psi instead of the recommended 7psi. No problems so far.......
The conveyed button is the note of c. Below it is f, and above it g then d. The chords are the same but major chords. The missing bits of the straps connect to the top of the accordion and then you put the 2 straps over your shoulders. 🪗the flaps are valves that allow air to pass through the reeds on each reed plate in one direction at a time. When you pull the bellows air will flowmtheoufh the top reeds, and when you push the bellows it will flow through the bottom reeds on the reed plates. I would have used rubber solution and not superglue to srick the valve on in case you ever need to do any more repairs.
Thanks for this video, it's been really helpful. I have the same cannon model bought from Currys in March 2023, the same problem happened yesterday. Unfortunately for me, I didn't take out the 5-year plan. If they don't have the electronic gas-safe device part available, you cannot do much. I have never had a problem with gas cookers. Then, I have never had a temperature oven before.
All I can do is wish you the best of luck. I'm pleased this video has helped and thank you for saying so. My advice would be to explain to Currys that you are aware this is a common fault but be calm and and be ready for the assistant to deny all knowledge and claim it's not so. Then ask them who to write to, taking note of their name, time, branch etc. But be pleasant and don't make demands.
Don’t give up on the engine, steam can be frustrating some days especially when things break like taps but there is always a solution
Having now discussed this with a couple of experienced guys at the club, the plan is to fit the regulator then plug the other bushes and pressure test it to see if I really need to remove the broken taps. Thanks for the comment. 🙂
a lot of companies dont hold stock anymore, they rely on their supplier having stock, when the 1 supplier runs out of stock- nobody has stock. same with boating, we were after a fuel injector for a nanni engine- everyone showed it in stock, when contacted they then phoned the suppliers, who didnt have any in stock, thus all the companies in the country were out of stock because the one supplier was out- turned out that the engine is a common kubota block and if you want kubota part, it was a fraction of the price- and dozens available.
The most annoying part about it is that with time on your hands you can go hunting for a supplier but when you think you've found one, you discover it's only another link a chain. If only businesses were more open about their lead times.
@@floydraser4603 yes, all the companies that advertised they could get the part came back after 20 minutes and all of them said their supplier had none (Peachments). Peachments also said it was impossible to get parts for the 3 cylinder nanni- so we would need to buy a whole new engine, yet the kubota supplier said that the little 3 cylinder was one of the most widely used in site plant that there was a ton of parts for them (the kubota dealer also came in with the full list of parts for less than the nanni dealer quoted for just one part.
@iareid8255 3 months ago Floyd, have you thought about turning the compound slide by 90 degrees. As it is, the parting off action causes the compound to move on the slide, i.e. the side nearest you will want to lift and the toll dip, the amount being how tight the slide is. By rotating 90 degrees, the length of the slide (probably twice that of the width?) will be in the direction of parting and I believe will be more rigid? That said on my old Student lathe, parting off was difficult and nerve racking until I fitted a rear tool post onto the cross slide, parting off is now easy and can be done quickly. I also use a carbide insert parting off tool. @floydraser4603 3 months ago Actually no, I hadn't thought about that at all but now you mention it, it looks fairly obvious! I will certainly give it try next time. That's also another vote for a rear tool post. Not sure I do enough to make it worthwhile but I'll see how it goes. I'm awaiting delivery of a carbide tip parting tool too, a bit more substantial than the one in the video. Thanks for the comment. @floydraser4603 3 months ago I've now given this idea a try, in principle anyway, not actually partied anything off yet. Yes it works in that it more of the cross slide is used to make it more rigid. I still have to wind the cross slide back as far as possible otherwise the tool is moving away from the round post underneath. @iareid8255 3 months ago (edited) Floyd, the mounting of the tool post is rather weak on your lathe. This is presumably due to the design for the clamping of the compound to the saddle? I suspect there is not sufficient depth of material to set those two nuts in a counter bore such that the nuts are below the compound's top face? In comparison, the Student has the tool post bolted directly to the compound slide so is more rigid. Even so using the main toolpost was not great, but my lathe is fairly worn, hence the rear tool post modification. @floydraser4603 3 months ago @iareid8255 Yes it is a bit weak. I'm going to persevere with it as it is and if I'm not happy I'll probably go for the rear post and mounting plate for my lathe, currently about £70 from Warco.
@thosoz3431 3 months ago Winky's flexing parting tool holder is a great success. His plans are free and easy to follow. @floydraser4603 3 months ago Just had a look at his video. That's a bit of a project which is fine if you need something to do and have the materials. However, it doesn't eliminate the overhang.
in general i think the only difference is the quality control applied, but even then, not every machine will be tested, the more expensive machines may well have passed a higher standard of quality control, but that doesnt mean the cheap one is any worse than a bad one that has passed QC.
Comments transferred from the first version: @steamsearcher 3 months ago OUR EMCO came with loads of problems a Compact 8 E which is the variable speed version. The first thing I looked at was the parts which were the most popular to replace. Leadscrew half nuts? Upon a good look the leadscrew was very rough. I then took the whole lathe apart. I polished the leadscrew and all was fine. Although old it had probably been used just once. Everywhere was covered in protective grease, including the spindle and bearings. These were flushed out. The cross slide screw was bent straight and all the ways polished. I then made up a new spindle nose to fit Warco backplates and move it out to give me a chance to get my GRUBBYS behind and do the M 8 ts. Heated up and banged on to a frozen spindle. Then machined in place and removed so several chucks and faceplates could be machined. Having other lathes comes in handy. 9 in total but some came free but in a bad way. Now it is a superb machine but underpowered for big cuts. the Raglan 5 is for this or the Super 7 from Myford. David and Lily. @grendel1960a 3 months ago i think the difference between machines is the quality control at the factory, dictated by the customer, so the more expensive brands will have rejected the worst of the dogs that were made, which will then be sold by the inferior brands @Marcus1954s 2 months ago Axminster have Sieg lathes. Amadeal, Chester and Warco have the Weiss lathes. Reply @floydraser4603 2 months ago That's interesting, thank you for sharing. I guess each of them have a given level of quality control on import. Reply @Marcus1954s 2 months ago @floydraser4603 Axminster informed me that they did not do anything to the Sieg lathes they import, just sell them. The Weiss lathes I've seen from Chester, Amadeal and Warco are technically so close that the parts for each particular Weiss model are interchangeable. Considering how they are crated/packaged and shipped I doubt they perform anything more than a superficial check that all listed parts are enclosed. Never seen a major issue with the Weiss lathes.
