Going to Gen Con this weekend and am so excited to pick it up! Thanks for making the video!

How many COIN games do you guys need? And by COIN I mean the system Volko invented. I feel like they are all very similar, with theme changes being the big differences. These must play very good multiplayer, because they are not very good solo.

Excellent video. Very informative and entertaining. I have been listening to wargames to go for quite some time. I always think it is done after no new episodes for a year or two. Glad to see it’s still going. I wouldn’t be so quick to dismiss Conquistador. I know it is a very one-sided view of history. Perhaps, it shine some light on how little the early colonizers thought of the indigenous people. It would allow you to put yourself in that mindset. Contrasting that mindset to a more even viewpoint could be educational and its own right.

Glad you're trying Falling Sky! It's a good one, but definitely best at 4 players as there can be quite a bit of negotiation. I have Plains Indian Wars and tried it solo but the rules ambiguities in the rulebook were a bit annoying. I really want to try it at 2 or 4 players. I just got Port Arthur, beautiful board and counters. Will try it soon! Dien Bien Phu is one that really attracts me, thematically and aesthetically. I am not attracted to hex & counter at all, especially ones that abstract their counters with NATO symbology and such. But when I saw the counters for Dien Bien Phu, I decided I could definitely try that one. The length and complexity of it scared me off though. I know it's not *that* complex, but I haven't played anything like it before, so it feels like it's be a bit much for me. Anyway, I look forward to seeing your comments on it! I always enjoy your videos including these quarterly reviews, Joe. Looking forward to your next one!

Watching this again for review after branching out into other COIN titles. Again great video I think it is an awesome teaching tool especially for new players to COIN. Would love to see more COIN videos with history lessons mixed in. Question: at 44:51 you redeployed troops to Santiago de Cuba , but there is neither Government control nor a base there. I don't think you can do that unless its Havana. and there are no Government controlled cities. Cuba Libre rulebook 6.4.2

20:31 Thanks for pointing that out. I found the wording in the Rules of Play and the Player's Aid a bit confusing with the use of the word "Then..." BTW do you play with the "Deception" chits?

13:00 Government bases have me a bit baffled. Do you have to have a Government base in a city to train? Are there conditions you can train in a city without a base? If so what is the purpose of having a base in a city and why does the Standard and Extended Scenarios have all or almost all cities with a Government base? "In any city and or countryside space with a base Government can place up to four of their cubes" - this makes it sound like you don't need a base in a city to place cubes

30:27 or 34:37 - just to add: Why would a first eligible player take the Op Only instead of the Event or Op + Special? To prevent another player from playing the Event. Great video thanks for posting. Of all the ones I've watched I think yours is the best I've seen.

This video (and your channel) is such a breath of fresh air. Tons of games I've never heard of but look amazing. I saw your review of Vijayanagara and was so impressed by the quality and presentation of the video. I think I'm going to have a lot more games for my wish list, and more videos to absorb. AI is a truly powerful tool! It's easy to learn but hard to master. There's a vast array of masterpieces that can be generated or created with AI for games!

Interesting topic. I've seen two developments that give me some hope. First, AI depends basically upon the internet as a source for its image training. As more and more AI art floods the internet it appears to be creating a sort of feedback loop. AI images are starting to generate almost identical compositions, losing their 'artificial' creativity. This 'sameness' makes the images easier to spot and less useful. The video I saw on the subject put it this way: "Garbage in garbage out." Secondly, some developers are devising a sort of hidden watermark artist can use when posting art online. It 'poisons' AI algorithms and causes them to really screw up the images they produce. It would be good to see something like this become widely adopted.

I think Google has an opinion about this. I liked the video, and the count remains at zero... Agree on all points.

This game is a masterpiece

I believe at about 28:00 you are mistaken, when explaining the Command and Decree option. The Command must be done in all chosen spaces, either before or after the Decree. You cannot do the Command in some spaces, do the Decree, then come back to the Command. Also, during an attack, any die rolls of 1 cannot be screened. Since the Attacker chooses his Calvary options first, he can use his Calvary to bring rolls down to 1 making them immune from screening.

Very helpful ... great Job! I love this game. It is more comfortable and easier to play than other coin games!
