I’m glad I found this video, I have been prescribed an SNRI, I actually did do a Genesight dna test so the one I was prescribed should work for me (hopefully.) so that makes me feel a bit better. However, I am still very anxious about it (health anxiety) I thought I had pharmacophobia however, there are other things I have no problem taking so I think it’s the side effects that get me/being allergic/withdrawals if I decide to go off it, but again…I did a dna test so what I was prescribed should be okay for me. I can do this!!! We all can 👍🏻
Good..
Love this advice to feel it all! What do you when you're working and "HAVE" to stay present?
thank you ! this video helps me a lot ... I've searched almost everywhere for things to do with OCD and found out you can have visual staring OCD (tourettes) without even thinking about it or knowing about it ! I am waiting to get a psychologist that I can talk to. I'm from Norway, I hope they have good experience with that team in my country
Thank you for this. I am having a hard time, but I am trying.
Anxiety has caused made me not to be able to ease myself and now I have fissure and hemorrhoids and everyday I'm in an excruciating pain
That list is so overwhelming to even listen to when you are depressed for years
This video is so helpful and comforting 💜
Thank you so much for this. It is so helpful to feel seen and know I'm not alone. Thanks for all the advice!
your dog is curing my depression as we speak!!!! also thanks for the tips :)
😊I love your dog in this video. Awesome 🎉
It gives me strength to continue seeing that people all over the world deal with this. I wish we could all live among one another in our own private residence. People often lack the emotional intelligence to understand. 😢
Thabk you so much for your video! I've been struggling a lot throughr the past few months, dealing with grief and events that brought up my anxiety and a near relapse in eating disorders and depression. I'm not feeling comfortable with the upcoming holidays as i always tend to feel lonely although kot being alone, but i found your tips very useful and will try to apply them. Also, the timing of this video is crazy, as your words were exactly the support I needed. Thank you again, take good care and, to you and to anyone who is reading this, i wish you the best holidays ❤
I once had a severe reaction to a medication that caused tachycardia that sent my heartrate to 170s and now my fear and anxiety to medication is unbearable. I've been prescribed anxiety meds but I'm terrified to take it.
Hey Kimberly and Patrick - can you guys do a Q and A about what to do when OCD blindsides you? Like, if life gives you an OCD. I believe they're called In Vivo Exposures.
Can you keep doing social anxiety related videos?? This was extraordinarily helpful!!
15 years ago I didn't believe anxiety attacks were real. Then, about 5 years ago, I had one for absolutely no explainable reason. Then, more often in ridiculous situations like being trapped in line at a drive through waiting on food. Not complete meltdowns, but more intense than I'd like to admit. Bad enough to not leave home without medication. For an unrelated reason, I turned off Facebook and Instagram 13 months ago and only use TH-cam. Within a month, no more unexplainable anxiety. Zero. Now I realize that my ADD brain does not need to be tuning in to 50 different comment threads while I'm trying to live a full life. It was causing me to literally be someplace else in my head almost all the time. Thats not good, and now the only thing that sends a notification to my phone is a phone call or text message. It really is a better way to live if you are an easily distracted person like me.
There is no video only sound
Embrace the uncertainty ❤
"I'm doing well, I'm doing well, crash"... that says it all!!! 😂 oh man, it's exhausting. This is helpful. I'm just starting to discover that one of the biggest triggers for my spirals is when I'm avoiding disappointment. Once I finally realize that, it seems so simple to feel disappointed vs all the anxiety gymnastics i go through to avoid it. 🥴 This is a good reminder to not try and stop the feeling.
My hardest part with OCD anxiety is getting trapped between two choices when both seem as though they're meant to avoid feeling discomfort. Ie: choosing between hotels to book (which just happened!) and I tell myself either I just pick one to not indulge the intrusive thoughts, which feels impulsive and avoidant, or I wait and research and then realize I'm spiraling and panic.. Then I just go back and forth with myself criticizing myself for my inability to know which is the "right" way to go about it. Especially when there is a time component, like rooms are booking up or it's getting dark and I fear i will have nowhere nice to stay. Then I think, is it just my mind that says it's urgent? Etc. This video is helpful food for thought and you're doggie is so cute 😊 Thank you.
I HATE taking away medication. I think boiling my own head in oil might be easier than trusting what has been prescribed, which I see as poison. My BP is sky high and will not come down and I now have no choice..but the packs ALL sit on the table, like trophies until I can grab them and take a pill…then I have a panic attack (and wait to die) . The panic stays in a long m several hour cycle (I have severe PTS and panic disorder after severe trauma-not meds related). Anyway: I will watch the video and have hope. I feel great empathy for anyone who is afraid of taking meds.
Thank you for this, Kimberley!!! The timing was perfect and your empathy and kindness in the video was reassuring.
this video came up when I needed it most
A lot of those reasonings align with me. Anxiety, boredom, overstimulation, loneliness, tiredness, and genetics A lot, I know! But I've found it so affirming that boredom can be a reason! I always assumed that "didn't count" and I'm so glad you explained that ♥️
❤❤❤❤
Yes OCD can be a chronic mental health illness.
what if I try this for almost 5 years and still it remains?
Can we talk in private
Feelings aren't facts.
Thank you for making this video, the day after tomorrow I have a dilated pupils eye exam that would make my vision blurry and that means that I can't do it alone. The problem is that I don't have anybody to come with me except for my nnarcissitic abusive mother, it scares me not being able to see well and depend on her. Also my doctor is worried about my condition so I'm afraid of what she may found
Hi friend don't be scared it's your anticipatory anxiety just accept and allow it's not bad as you think in reality ❤ good luck
Thank you for this video it was really helpful this is my biggest anxiety and I feel so often obviously this is a massive ask but have you got any more tips for managing this side of anxiety
I'm on the path to recovery and you help me by reminding me it's ok to have the OCD thoughts.... it's just to remember not to engage with them and to move on with your day. It's not easy because you can get sucked in to believing whatever OCD is telling you, but like any skill i have to practise, practise, practise letting the thought be there, but simply to ignore it.
He looks like Eric banner chopper read character 😅
Very well done and enlightening. Thanks for doing this.
I have dealt with these OCD compulsive urges for over 40 yeqrs - I am now basically desensitized from them, but did suffer for many years. Sometimes these thoughts/urges are so crazy, they now make me laugh. they don't 'fish hook' me anymore. If you are not familiar with them or don't know how to handle them, they can make you feel like a 'bad' person. Self love is very important, you are a good person who has these thoughts. Peace!
That 'whoosh' feeling you mentioned in the beginning has been very challenging because that comes out of nowhere, and makes one feel like they are passing out. Thank you for sharing this video. It is very helpful.
I feel the same with this.
Your book helped me so much back in 2021 . I realized self love was so important in getting better
Oi, Kimberley has a book??
Amazing episode, every single word here was so helpful. This is gold. Thanks Kimberley, you are one of a kind!
I feel like I'm seeing life in a new way and it's scaring me. Woohoo
I've had DR for 22 years, no breaks, hiw can I travel abroad? Get on a plane with feeling like this? What if I try to get off the plane mid flight?
I have very annoying thoughts, when i try to get rid of them they come back and i had to create a whole cutscene in my brain to get rid of at least some of them... theyre usually about the things i hate thr most and since im Christian theyre often about sinning and doing something terrible. Also, if i for example hit something with my right hand, i have to hit it with my left hand too cause then it would be uneven and when i try to fight back the urge just gets stronger ._. Or if you touch my right arm ill have to touch my left arm or both a couple times. Or every time i do something i count how many times i did it, for example just tapping my desk while studying. 2+2=fiv... wait, how many taps was that? Felt like 7... i have to add one more, 7 is UNEVEN so one finger tapped it more than the other!!!! After hearing about ocd i thought i MIGHT have it, but im not diagnosed. Im afraid to ask my parents about talking to a psychologist or someone bc they think my brain is totally fine. (Even tho im diagnosed with depression and social anxiety.) Should i really contact someone? Could these be signs of ocd?
If the worst happens, I will try to live with it, I will try to cope with it. Acceptance sucks.Truly, Acceptance means you don't have a choice; make lemonade if you have a lemon.
The commitment to taking care of myself has been challenging.
I’m having difficulty getting out of bed and having a reason to care. I know why I need to get up and I get stuck in a “I can’t” mentality or what’s the point or shame - just so much.
Thank you so much for this! You really helped me out with these tips :D
This person is the best OCD therapist on planet Earth.
❤
I need help anxiety depression
Yes
What I do is. Oh maybe it’s because they’re sick, oh did I get them sick? Are they annoyed of me? Even if they are it’s my fault for annoying them. Are they okay? Did I do anything wrong? What if they are sick or can’t come and feel bad for canceling, it’s my fault for planning it in the first place, if I wouldn’t have they wouldn’t have felt bad for canceling. What if they never cared in the first place? No they’re a good person? It’s all my fault Then I get exhausted of thinking of all the scenarios and reason Oh yeah it’s all my fault screw me, I don’t feel like thinking anymore, I’m sorry everyone for being alive. I feel so bad for becoming their friend I’m a bad person they deserve so much better, screw me. The end. Literally my thought process based on real thoughts I’ve had in a single situation just with maybe a few thoughts here and there removed.
