xo v3 with hmx blue topaz (typing sounds)
finally got around to recording this one!

- board: monstargear alu xo v3
- switches: hmx blue topaz switches, stock. L+F mx black in spacebar
- stabilizers: tx ap stabilizers lubed with 205g0
- keycaps: epbt x gok bow
- plate: brass
- mount: o-ring top mount
- foams, other mods: neoprene plate foam, polyfil + pe case foam
filmed on fuji x-t3 with 7artisans 35mm f1.2. audio has a slight noise reduction applied but is otherwise unedited.

hmx still goated. i think i prefer the xinhais but these are good. some of them did have some lube pooling in the bottom though which was a quick fix but still really annoying.
the xo v3 is a fairly typical korean top mount tkl with a somewhat unique aesthetic. i love this board visually but the stock sound profile isn't quite to my preference, hence the case and plate foam (which helps a lot). my previous build of this board had pcb pe foam as well but i honestly prefer not to have that. you can get these for like $90 these days on mechmarket which i'd say is actually really cheap for the quality of this board, which is excellent.

ok this is the last CTRL sound test i do i swear (or is it? :flushed:) - keycaps are the G-MKY PBT Olivia knockoffs from aliexpress - slide rails springs lubed on the boba u4ts. purchased from mkzealots on aliexpress. some of the switches i got had some key chatter; this seems to be a common issue with these switches. for what it's worth, the seller sent me some replacement switches for free an...
That is true with my Sonnet and Loop. I guess that is the signature of Mode having that "thuddy" sound profile.

do you have a different switch for the spacebar? it sounds a bit different
spacebars always sound different, ultra wide keycap with lots of extra resonance

@@inspire1ove yes, i have a black cherry pie (the frankenswitch, not the BSUN) in the spacebar. forgot to mention it, sorry. i'll put it in the description now. that being said, the spacebar does still sound quite different from the alphas even when i do have an identical switch in there. i just liked the way the BCP sounded in the spacebar more than the xinhai (which was also good)

even if you say this isnt the best sound test, i still find it enjoyable. alpacas are an endgame switch for me and id love something that sounds like that gmmk pro but with more flex and actually affordable over here in britland :(
glad you like it :) have you considered the keychron q1? i know it has more flex although i don't necessarily know if it's affordable. it's more moddable than the gmmk pro from what i've heard though so it should be easier to get whatever sound profile you want. if alpacas are also too expensive you could maybe go for JWicks, which are made by the same manufacturer and are very similar but much cheaper
Your enter keycap is more quiet than backspace? I have same issue and dont know why.. That is more poppy
yea, idk why either :/ i think it might have something to do with the pe foam maybe dampening the sound or something? no clue
Do you have any static issue on the PE foam?
i haven't noticed any, but i can't say for sure
