Exploring Wisconsin’s FAST Fiberglass Mold Graveyard
OBSCURIST TOURIST 156 - If you're like me, then you've often wondered where do roadside attractions get their statues? On a recent road trip, I found out. Though there are literally thousands of statues strewn across the USA at roadside attractions; one of the biggest producers of them is the F.A.S.T. Fiberglass Company. Located in Sparta, Wisconsin, this place boats a literal Fiberglass mold graveyard on its property - after all, the company has always vowed to never throw away a mold of a statue its made, just in case they need to make it again. These molds take up A LOT of real estate ... so what better place to store them than outside in a field. It is quite amazing to see some of your favorite statue molds right out in the open; but even more amazing is the fact that the owners of the proper encourage visitors to come to the property and check it all out. AND, it's free! Some come along with me as I explore the place where roadside attraction statues are made - The Fiberglass Animals, Shapes, and Trademarks Company.

    Lol, this town is a sh*thole, unless you are one of the "chosen ones". They only take care of the infrastructure in tourist areas, (go ahead and check out all the potholes and water leaks in the less ritzy neighborhoods) and our taxes pay a lot for sexual harassment lawsuits against city officials, and the useless space port advertising, since they changed the route. Ask anyone EXCEPT the people who need to bring tourists there how that town really is next time. You'll get a clearer picture. However, if you are just a tourist coming in for a few days, or once a year, you will be treated very well - especially if you bring publicity or lots of money. Enjoy! 😘😂

      Funny this is that I missed it the first time I drove down that stretch of Route 66 as well! The best thing I can say is that if you are driving east from Kingman to Seligman, it’s about half way and on the left side of the road. I remember it being just past the Grand. Canyon Caverns. It’s right beside the road and just looks like a small service station. Sorry I couldn’t provide better directions. 🤗❤️

    I have hiked, canoed, camped, portaged and do wilderness survival my whole life never had a ticket on me till I moved to Niagara region. Man ever time I go through the bush here I will 100% get a ticket on me. I had to stop taking my dog on hikes in the bush as he would get about 3 every time, usually in his year or belly. I had one jump right in my ear canal, i got it out right away. Got home my dog had like 6 on him i had 3 if i can remember correctly. So make it clear I hike and a lot. If u do what I do and follow deer paths/trails/ track you will most likely get them on you as they wait in those areas for the deer. Water ways where they drink u will find ticks. Wild strawberry trail deer's will follow and they will be on those paths. Dude that is hilarious I also keep them in water bottle when I take them off me and my dog but for many reason just incase my dog or I got sick all of a sudden. You should do a video on Eastern Mississauga rattle snake. i almost got bitten by on once on the Bruce Trail, they are also got in mud lake in the Niagara region. Stay safe is good advice, when I teach people what i know i always say about the wilderness. No on is coming to help you out here. So you have to listen to me or we will die! I always say this to people... THE RULES OF STUPID don't go to stupid place at stupid times with stupid people do stupid thing or u get stupid results and win stupid prizes. man i have tons of video on DVC cassettes and nothing to watch them on. Everything from me and my brother in Africa, Scotland, England, Swaziland and radical amount of my bands concerts and tons of wildness trips. i think I should find a editor for my stuff. You happen to know anyone who does that? Or even just transfer the video?

    • @ObscuristTourist
      @ObscuristTourist 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Yeah, ticks are EVERYWHERE now. Like you, I never experienced ticks my entire life until the last 4 years - now it seems I get them every time I go anywhere that isn't in the city. A while back I was in the desert - I made no stops and didn't go in the forest or near long grass. I found a tick on my leg and could never figure out where I got it from. It had been there for a few days and I tried to retrace my steps, but there was absolutely no way I just got it out in nature while walking as I was never out in nature really. I figured it must have transferred to me while petting a stray cat that I encountered. I must have touched my leg - as I was wearing shorts - before properly washing my hands. Now I'm just weary of them and super careful while doing anything outside. Luckily, that area of New Mexico does not have Lyme ... so I never ended up getting ill. Whew.

    • @AlanKelly-nm9lx
      @AlanKelly-nm9lx 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@ObscuristTourist That sounds like the one that jumped in my ear, now I was around a lot of bush but noting high enough to let it jump in my ear canal. I have never had that happen before, usually on my legs or soft skin parts like neck and pits. I have only ever had one person tell me they know someone who got the Lyme. They are landscapers though. as a huge lover of Oregano! it contains cedrol which is know to kill 100% of ticks that come into contact with it. So if u get some oil from any health food store and rub it on u i think it smell awesome. some might not. I would stay away from bug repellent myself.

    Man this just popped in my mind and I searched it. I was like someone has to have posted a video of the old Medusa's cave in Bramalea. I walked through this cave hundreds of times with a pack of matches or lighter that always went out and we get soakers. I myself am from Bramalea and probably would say I know most people over 45- 55 years old who grew up there. I don't recognize you Obscurist Tourist. Have we ever met or possibly know each other?, I grew up in Brampton and went to Aquinas high school. My brother was president of our high school and I myself was very well known for skateboarding in the 80s! As a teen I hung out at every plaza that we could in Bramalea. Man, we used to skate on that cement outside the cave and it never had a wildness like that when we were kids. guess they need to hide the homeless somewhere these days. So also I will tell you the legendary story, possibly a myth about the cave and if anyone on here can correct me I would love to know as I plan on doing this adventure soon. So I will start with we all know there are rats there, I still to this day want to know who claims coining the term Medusa's cave I bet I know that person? So as everyone knows there is that right turn halfway through, that steel tunnel that is very hard to walk down btw, if you never tried which i have when i was a kid many many times. Now I have been told by people who claim they have been all the way through that tunnel to its end! The end is rumoured to lead to the old underground movie theater where there is an intact theater with chairs which has been flooded I am told. I possibly believe this as back in the 80s we would skateboard all the time in the underground parts and hidden hallways that go forever under Bramalea city center. That is back before they had cameras and security could never catch us. We just laughed as they tried to catch up to us while we even turned tricks. lol There is also a tunnel I have never been through behind Fleetwood cres in Falling Dale school yard. It has a huge steel gate on it and it goes all the way to ching high school. All the ROCK ONS used to walk through it when i was a kid. I remember being in grade 4 and walking home and a bunch of them were stuck in there cause it had snowed and they couldn't get out. Man the memories i have from Btown, I even knew one of those kids who lived through the forks of the credit cars crash. Me and my friends were driving around there that same night (smoking pot!). I and the other 4 guys in that car have a crazy scary story about that night that made us leave and we all believed we saw ghosts that night. Next day we all show up to one of the guys' backyards and everyone is there. Mike says u guys here what happened at the forks last night and tells us. We all laugh at him as we think he's just trying to prank us. As we sit in Doug's back yard. We have a ghetto blaster going and the radio. Not even 5 mins later it comes on the radio about the deaths of the 8 youth involved on Mothers day 1993 . We all went silent, looked at each other and have never said a word about that night again since to each other....... I haven't been in btown in years but what happened to all the parkettes? ps i sent this to a few friends already for ya to get some views!

    • @ObscuristTourist
      @ObscuristTourist 11 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I remember that Forks of the Credit car crash and the deaths. I still tell that story to friends and didn’t grow up in B-town. Wild. I’ve been inside the tunnel in the F-section with the iron grate at the entrance. Back in the early 90s, someone had cut and bent the top bar of it and we were super skinny back then … so we were able to get in. Obviously, much smaller inside than Medusa’s Cave and more round. We must have walked about a mile inside until it started to splinter off into other tunnels. Even at that age, the idea of getting lost weighed on us and we turned back. I stopped entering tunnels like that when some kid died some years later in one of them due to a flash flood inside. Man, we were all so reckless back then! Thanks for watching and spreading the word. Honestly, I made this video more as a personal memory and never thought anyone would even ever find it. Haha

      @@ObscuristTourist Ya Rory O'Conner was with me that night of the crash he was sitting in the back seat of the car with me. Ask him about it if you ever run into him. I believe the only other time I seen a entity like that was when I lived on Woodbine race track in the dorm and then was told ya that dorm is on top of a old straw training track lots of people died there.. I just shared the video with a friend who I said tell me if u remember if any of that graffiti is ours lol I will wait and see if he responds with a yea? I bet when I was in grade 6 i tagged A+M on the wall in there lol mine and my so called girlfriend initials. She got in so much trouble for me doing that on her school were she lined up for recess lol omg the memoirs this tunnel brings back is unreal.

    Impressed by your research, nice job! Tourists, look up Shep's Miners Inn hotel in Chloride which wraps around Yesterday's Restaurant. Yesterday's is remembered as an old Butterfield Stage repair shop. Both the hotel and the restaurant are open for business.

      Thanks so much for watching!!! It’s been a while since I’ve been back to Chloride, so I need to visit Shep’s! 🤗

      I love New Mexico on a few levels. It’s a pretty chill state, but if we wanna compare - I’ll take Arizona, Colorado, and even parts of Utah. 🥰

    He was my neighbour on St-Dominique in the 70’s... I sat with him talking in the Parc des Portugais or the restaurant on St-Laurent street. Nice guy he was. Polite. 😊

      That’s amazing. You are incredibly lucky. Everything I’ve heard about Marta tells me she was a remarkable human as much as she was an artist. ❤️🤗

    I recall hearing about the ballerina in the middle of nowhere, many years ago. I have new appreciation for her artistic talents. I hope this place persists and is maintained well.

      I’d actually never heard of her before visiting. I’m from Canada, so these amazing American secrets aren’t as available to us. That being said; I’m a huge fan now and absolutely her entire legacy - both as an artist and person. 🥰

    This place reminds me of The Joshua Tree Inn, obviously in Joshua Tree. Gram Parsons died there in room 8, in 1973. I stayed there in his room for 2 nights a few years ago, it was very mystical and Gram’s vibes were strong and not at all creepy or scary. It was an awesome experience, one I would like to enjoy again. ❤❤

      I’ve stayed in that room at the Joshua Tree Inn some years back. Long before I was doing these videos - so I guess I will have to return sooner than later. 🤗
