Just got back from Newark skatepark - saw someone skating a Manak board! Was stoked to see it.
This rocks🔥big ups and respect, this is awesome roots style printing techs, super punkrock self sufficient stlye🔥🤘🔥
great video dude!
I want to start my own skateboard board company
lollll
Want XD
That looks incredible!!
The two at the end look so sick! I love the wood grain popping through!!
Learned my box-making from the best! It's so cool to see the new jig you've made since the last video!
Bro this is your band???? Just bought the album, mad respect.
Yes, that’s our band. Thank you for the support, we appreciate it! 🤙
Thanks for the great videos:)! In this video you say some of the veneers are a year old. How fresh should they be to make a quality deck? Does the age of the wood make a big difference?
What do you use to clear coat them?
@@Wisper_SB polyurethane
@ thank you!! 💜💜💜
Stoked to see the collab man!
Some people print on raw wood then gloss. I put down one coat of gloss, print, then put down a final coat of gloss. I mess up on the prints from time to time and it’s easier to wipe off and print again if there is a base coat of gloss before printing.
Clear coat then graphic or graphic then clear coat
Some cool tips. Thanks bud. Makes me think, maybe a stencil design for shipping boxes would be cool for customers and look professional.
That would totally work, but people nerd out on something screen printed and since I have the screens already, I opt for screening.
@@ManakSkates Cool stuff mate. Thanks for sharing your process. It's super interesting, I'd love to try it out at some point. Screen printed designs do look cool. In this era of everything being so techie, I love the idea of doing things in more of an analogue way. With a human hand in it.
@@2ndBirth We focus on the LoFi way of making boards. There are plenty of techie boards on the wall at the skateshops made by computerized machines with heat transfer graphics. That's cool and all, but low tech gives the board a soul (and they last longer).
@@ManakSkates Yeah, true, I feel that man. I find it with all the AI art out there. I think it is starting to have the effect of making people appreciate the real thing more and seeking it out. Like you say, it has soul put into it. Hope you have a great week bud.
How did you get that crackle effect on the spray painted squeegee?
You can buy crackle paint from a brand called Montana. Google it and you’ll easily find some. 🤙
I've made 3 or 4 of these frames and I'm not very handy with tools etc, so the pieces of the frame are not very solidly screwed together, such that when I stretch the screen (and often before), the 2x2s start to twist and warp. I've tried using 2 screws and it still seems to be the same problem. Any suggestions?
I haven’t experienced this issue. I glue them with the same glue I laminate my decks with before screwing. Try more glue?
Can confirm these boards have great pop and last a long time. Had an 875 popsicle and enjoyed the shape.
Merci !
I hope y’all’s website gets up and going! I really love the shapes y’all make! I can’t seem to find them anywhere!
@@xrubenx1328 thank you Ruben. You can find our decks at www.ManakSkates.com
Fantastic!, I have to prepare 4 decks for BlockHead, of my drawings on hand, and to protect my artwork, that wrap is excellent.
brilliant stuff!!!! Couple questions what squeegee blade derometer are you using? 60?? nice and soft right? what tension are you using on your screens?? thanks so much
didn't like to keep the number 666 likes
should try some exotic wood veneers for the bottom ply! a pale moon ebony bottom would be sick!
Nice !!!! 🤘🤘
Love that you show every step!
We hope to inspire others to get into board making.
So good 🎉
Thank you for the opportunity! So hyped!
Love the way you do business
Many thanks James!
All your shit kicks ass
@@ChrisHerring-es1yu thank you buddy 🤙
Quality content
Where do you get your veneer from and what thickness do you use??
Yeah buddy, definitely my kind of different!!! Going to go on your shop site and pick one of these up💯🤙🏼😎
Love this shape and the logo man!!! Discovered you in the video with JB from skate park lessons! 🤙🏼😎
Great tutorial! Thanks a lot for sharing!
Great informative video. Couple of questions if I can ask. What size deck (for the squeegee handle) do you typically use for the squeegee? Have you tried cutting the squeegee rubber so it follows the concave?
@@statenputnal1549 the bigger the deck, the better since we make decks over 10” wide. Never tried cutting the rubber but have seen it done. In all honesty, I’ve gone back to a stock flat squeegee and just push the ends into the board with my pinky’s.
Is that water based ink or plastisol?
@@taper3618 waterbased.
Dude this is sick!!!!💯🔥🤙🏼😎
You can use food colorant.
We have. Works great!
Love the vibe
Love it !!!
All Hail Manak!!! 🤘😝🤘
I don't think your demo does this, but spray paint slides so bad.
The edges of the deck are clean. No overspray on the sides, no drips.
@@ManakSkates yea I'm talking boardslides, so I guess based on your response I've made my point, which I accounted for.
@@Throawei aaaah, I misread your message. I put a lot of clear lacquer on the decks after and haven’t had a problem sliding. But spray paint without a few coats of lacquer afterwards is pretty sticky. I agree with your point.
That first one is a great shape. Without skating that exact one, I'll go out on a limb and say it's the best shape.
It’s one of our most popular pool shapes. It’s called the “flathead”. You can see it on manakskates.com
My skate wheels were metal😳 Talk about a rough ride!!!
@@rebeccasalinas852 metal wheels are so sketchy!
Where did you park?
There's a parkinglot around back. You hike to the water (just under a mile), then inflate your raft and it's go time.
If you want to colorize the maple you can use food colorant
Yes, it works well. I wanted to paint these though.
Awesome thanks!
Super inspiring!
He’ll ya bud!!! This is awesome!!!
