Hey hope you're well, this board came out great. Just got a Real Renewal deck which I think is made on similar principles and it's perfect just like a top line board.
Thanks for the great videos:)! In this video you say some of the veneers are a year old. How fresh should they be to make a quality deck? Does the age of the wood make a big difference?
Hey, I want to do a skateboard of my own but have zero experience. Why and how are some of the veneers colored ? And what kind of glue do u use? And what kind of sander do u use for edges ? You are doing some art man and I love it
There is a wealth of how to videos on TH-cam but to answer your questions. Color is for esthetics, you can use a palm sander with a heavy grit sandpaper to round edges (that’s what we did when we started, most small batch board makers use PVA wood glue like titebond 2 or 3.
@@ManakSkates thx for the feed Sir. Which kind of color do u use for the veneers. Is it somehow a special color ? Or do you buy the veneers colored already? I know that their a lot of vids out "ontheline" but I prefer talking to people with" shakalacka"
Hey man! These are probably favorite videos on TH-cam. Love the vibe! Just had a quick question about pressing the boards. I was going to purchase 2X 12 ton presses from harbor freight. Would they work alright? I see your presses are 20ton. I would probably only be pressing one or two boards at a time. Thanks!
For one or two boards that should work but those things bend really easily. I’d suggest the 20 ton presses for pressing though. It’s a better investment in the long run.
Just glue them and press them. Your press will flatten them out. I stack them and put weight on them, but they can still get wavy depending on the weather.
This deck was made of the crappiest, waviest stuff I had laying around and after shaping it, it came out great. I am riding it right now and I love this board.
Do you dye the veneer yourself? Cause I knows it's next to impossible to have it penetrate all the way through without a 5000 psi chamber pot unless, which I totally believe somebody figured out an easier way to Do it
These are factory dyed. Sometimes we will paint on food coloring before applying a graphic but most of what you see from us comes pre-dyed from the supplier.
Sick dude, love to see materials not go to waste!
We use “the whole Buffalo.” 🤙

Very cool that real is doing something like that. I’ll check it out!

Where do you buy your wood from?

We buy them already dyed from the supplier but sometimes we smear food coloring on the board right before applying the graphic.
@@ManakSkates food coloring ? Interesting. Is it more of a dipping or painting process ?
@@TheDudeway You just wipe in on with a paintbrush or rag.
Really really cool. I would never have thought to do that with bad veneers.
The funny part is this was probably the best board I’ve ever ridden. It kept its pop and stiffness for months. Didn’t chip either.
Probably cause there's less moisture in the veneers
wow! that's so cool .. you're really amazing making your own boards
Thank you! 🤙
Yeah viejo saludos de México me voló la cabeza todo lo que haces,me impulsas a hacer mis propias tablas ,de cusntos mm son las chapas de madera

@@ManakSkates Awesome. Appreciate man.
Please keep the videos coming. So cool.
using normal veneers is good? because I can't afford maple veneer
Maple veneer is most common and harder material. But give it a shot with what you got.
Where can you find that wood?
Google skateboard veneer. Many options online.
@@ManakSkates thanks!
Any tips for flattening wavy veneer? I ordered a batch and it's all super curly and wavy... I worry about stacking weight on it and cracking them.
