Can you elaborate on the new USB input? Looks like this is now a Geshelli product vs. Amanero. Also, what is the Geshelli recommendation for input - optical, coax or USB? For argument sake, let’s assume source output is similar for all 3.
where are you? we miss you!
I am looking to purchase the j3, how would i do that?
@@joshuamitchell1733 you can click the link in the description of this video and it will bring you directly to the page on the site to purchase the J3. You’ll choose if you want a wood or aluminum case, your plexi glass color, button color, and which op amps!
Just ordered this and I can't wait! American made and she fine! What a deal!!
Great, clear, easy to follow video. Thank you!
So we can not order the J3 with the Sparkos 2590’s? But on the Dayzee we can.
@@Zomvibe the 2590’s on the J3 are 2 of them connected to make it a dual op amp and called the “pro to dual dip 8 adapter fully assembled” This makes the op amp heavy so it can fall out during shipping. The 2590’s for the DayZee are just one op amp since it’s a mono op amp. You can still order the 2590’s for the J3 by emailing in. We do this so people are aware they will have to insert them their self and that they will not come in the unit. I hope this helped! :)
I just watched this video and I don’t know what the hell you were talking about but it was good thanks
How did you go from iPad to balanced input into the amp?
I especially ask because I’m new to balanced. I have balanced headphones now, but don’t know how to affordably feed the amp’s inputs since they are balanced only?
How do these compare with the sound from a Ares II? Where would it fall in the Geshelli line up?
My dCS makes these sound cheap seriously..!!!
I had an Elgar back in the day. It was good. But I didn’t think any of these ridiculously expensive DACs sounded particularly special considering they cost 10s of thousands of dollars. Im spending my $$ on speakers, not DACs.
@@kineahora8736 You do what you have to do..I do have seriously stupid speakers/amps /turntable as well so don't need to think about it 🙂
@@garth56 so the point of your commenting is basically “LOOK AT ME I have ridiculously expensive gear that I think is super great!!” So the question is: why are you wasting time watching and posting on a channel owned by makers of much lower-budget equipment?
@@kineahora8736 You don't get it but that's okay..Listen to her and then come back to me!!!
Excellent!!! Thank you!!
Why do all the products have weird names? Are these Jewish names? Elf names? Made up names? What's the backstory here?
hi friends, I asked on a forum if there is an alternative opamp that sounds as good as MUSES03-MUSES05, a person told me that if I solder the opa627 and opa637 opamps in parallel, it can sound as good as MUSES03-MUSES05, have there been any friends who have tried it?
I was just about ready to order a J2S w/ AKM4499 + AKM4419. What has been holding me back is the fact that I really wanted all the inputs/outputs on the back of the unit for a cleaner look/installation. The J3 fixes that and I also like the upgrades mentioned. This is GREAT! I'll be ordering one soon. Thank you!!!!
@@ramondelgado6778 so glad the J3 is what you were looking for!! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!!
Need i2s, once you hear it you ain't going back to other inputs.
lets see some measurements for various types of opamps within the dayzee
Do I understand correctly, that the Dayzee is not available in Europe ?
Great video! Nice job oversimplifying all of this for noobs like me.
Hi Rachel, would you consider adding the pro-type op amp receivers on the board for the 2590’s like you do on the Dayzee? It’s a bit concerning watching how unstable those large boards are sitting in those little dip-8 receivers. Any vibration could cause long term wearing of the pins, since there’s relatively little gripping force.
About to order a dayzee. Seeing this video and process is phenomenal. This is literal art and the fact that designs are inspired by albums. What a special moment in time this company has created.
Like for like with Same Op Amps. Still have some V7s around. How much change does the J3P offer over J2S in terms of sound? Thanks.
Great job. Very informative thank you for the great info. The DayZee info was very helpful with pricing and options.
This is brilliant! 😃
Could not be easier to do…..thx for the demo.
Rachel, that was one of the BEST explanations of any …upgradeable DAC. U did it seemless lay, with a passion for the brand. I first went to the Geshelli online store….its like a candy store for DAC aficionados….but the options made my head spin. Your straightforward no nonsense explanation has me considering the J2S or J3…. I would like to see Geshelli go the route of Eversolo DMP-A6 and -A8……combining great DACs w streamers in one box!
Eversolo doesn't have a great streamer in one box.
Has anyone ordered this with the 2590 op amps, they are not an option on the purchase page ??
@@bryanr9576 email into info@geshelli.com to order them! They are heavy so they can’t be shipped in unit. They will come outside the unit and need to be inserted. I have a few instructional videos showing how to! Hope this helps :)
Hey are you planning to find a EU distributor anytime soon?
Excellent tutorial!Thx..
Behold, the Perfect Woman.
Very cool but what is the difference between the options? Is there a chart or table of data?
The board looks simple and elegant.
Great informative video. Want to order the J2S version.I heard somewhere that there's a newer, slightly more spacious version of the J2S that can fit the sparkos lab ss2590s much easier in comparison to the first versions, is that true? Or can the J2s be altered to make the dual opamps fit more comfortably?
@@phrocasso5906 thank you! The J3 is the bigger form factor which can fit the 2590’s in both the XLR’s and RCA’s comfortably! It also has independent switches for the inputs as well which the J2S does not offer. In order to order the 2590’s you do have to email in, as they do not come in the unit due to the heaviness, but I do have a video on how to swap the op amps and take the unit apart and put back together. Hope this helps!
@@RachelGeshelli you're welcome. The J3 does look nice, with the additions and space it may suit my wants but I just need a J2s. Is there a way to get the box from the J3 pro or Archel or special order the J2s with the J3 pro or other housing? Is it better to order the sparkos opamp from you guys? Thank you for the quick response and valuable information.
@@phrocasso5906 you’re welcome!! And the J3 is taller to match the bigger form factor of the A3 and E3. The design of the board makes the 2590’s fit as they are wider than any of the other op amps, So the sockets are more spread out on the board. You can upgrade the case to the bigger form factor for the J2 as well if you wanted! Just write it in the comments when purchasing or email in!
@@RachelGeshelli You clarify things straight to the point. It makes sense with the J3 pro as the board is more spacious along with it's housing. Sorry, one last final question, would the 2590 fit the J2s with the bigger form factor?
@@phrocasso5906 I try to hahaha I’m glad it’s all making sense! And so the bigger case doesn’t really have anything to do with the 2590 more to do with the independent switches! The regular j2 size case will fit the 2590 in height. You could fit it on the RCA but not the XLR’s.
I had a chance to meet Geno and Sherri, and their entire family/staff. They graciously gave me a factory tour and answered all of my audio questions. In their listening room, I auditioned their flagship Dayzee DAC, with stock op amps, connected to their own amps played through AE520 speakers. The high res audio tracks were astonishingly surreal. There simply were details in this music that I’d never heard before, and I’ve auditioned 500k systems. The mid and low bass was powerful and impactful, with the upper register being clear, detailed yet non fatiguing. After hearing the Dayzee, I couldn’t audition the J3 pro. The experience was so incredible, that I couldn’t get anything less than the best! Sherri mentioned that if your budget allows it, go for the Dayzee with stock op amps vs the J3 Pro with Sparkos, since the price difference is nominal. If you want to take it to the next level, you can upgrade to Sparkos op amps later. Very friendly team of people, extremely knowledgeable and quite accommodating. Kudos to Geno’s amp and DAC designs! FYI, the purple heart wood case is absolutely beautiful! Very cool experience. Thanks so much!
Great video Rachel!!!
@@ChrisoneillART thank you Chris!!
Thanks for sharing this.
You’re welcome!
op amp rolling has gotta be a top 3 silliest audiophile move. deeply unserious practice.
Why ?
@@athathsonty2925 for starters in the example of this pcb coming with a standard DIP8 opamp, it includes a footprint for a discrete opamp, which is beyond pointless for hifi purposes. the technical draw backs of a discrete op amp is that parts have to be selected by hand. for a good discrete opamp, these requirements are fairly strict. in a best case scenario a manufacturer will buy a LOT of parts and use the ones that measure correctly. rarely does this happen though, so you get a smattering of parts that have tolerances of any where from +/- 1 to 20%. the other issue is that discrete opamps are more prone to thermal drift due to the transistors used in them. opamps are etched on to a silicone wafer and as such can be precisely trimmed to a tolerance that is in the fractions of a single percent range. There are benefits to using discrete opamps, none of them apply to home audio though, and most of them are related to the ability to drive complex loads over long distances in a studio environment. swapping DIP8 op amps for different DIP8 op amps is even dumber. Every circuit is designed for use with a specific op amp, meaning the values of the supporting components around it were chosen by the engineer to extract as much performance as possible out of said opamp. any op amp made since the 80's generally has a ruler flat frequency response, with astonishingly low THD, and exceptionally low noise(assuming the engineer is designing the circuit correctly). swapping op amps will at best leave you with a sound that is identical to the previous op amp. at worst, it will perform slightly worse(higher noise, excessive loading, ect). there is zero to be gained beyond a first hand understanding of the placebo effect.
Family run, user friendly business. How many times have you seen products stamped, "Do not remove cover. No user serviceable parts inside"? But this company not only wants you to be hands on with their products, but they even give you instructional videos on how to do it properly. And they have a very knowledgable (not to mention "adorable") spokesperson to do it. Thanks Rachel. As usual, you're a breath of fresh air!!
@@losendos8963 this was so unbelievably kind thank you!! Absolutely we want everyone to see the internals just as much as the externals! I’m so glad these videos are helpful as well!

@@OldGuyHifi thank you! And oh my gosh that is amazing!!! Good for you so proud! Also so glad you’re liking your Dayzee as well!!
I'm *loving* my J2S and my Archel 2.5XL! Hopefully, one day I can pick up one of these beauties! Geshelli should also consider making a all-in-one desktop amp/dac unit for gamers. There is a huge gap in the market for this right now.
@@Silver_Joystix that’s a great idea!!! So glad you’re enjoying your products as well!
Can these be used as a dac with ahh, Yamaha a-s701 integrated amplifier?
On the website for the J3 there is no option for the sparkos 2590s?
@@primalscream46 because of the heaviness of the op amp, we have to send them outside of the unit, not installed. Email into info@geshelli.com and you can order them!
I would give up the 1-coaxial and 1-TOSLNK inputs in the front for a I2S input in the back. I suspect 90+% of JNOG buyers over these years actually use these 4th & 5th input. Now that Gino is positioning this DAC midfi buyers the lacK of I2S is becoming a glaring oversight and deal breaker for me.
Excellent job!
@@willie9537 thank you!
@RachelGeshelli Rachel, you are truly welcome. Keep up the great work!
Bring your products to Europe, please
Is there a sonic difference between the J2S and J3P both using the SS2590? I know they technically don’t fit the J2S, but many have made them work.
The feet are not level on the middle DAC/Amp. The box bottom is not flat EH. It's amazing how many bent 4 footer bottom plates in HI-FI.
