Brilliant! As a long-time Shieldhall passenger, I'm so grateful for all that all of you do.
She’s a beauty!
Why do you have to go all the way back to Full Astern and then put it to Full Ahead?
If you ever fancy heading over to Scilly, it would be awesome to see Shieldhall and Scillonian 3 from the Isles of Scilly Steamship Company together. Sc'illonian 3 isn't a SS but the company itself has a rich history of running a steamship to the islands, we also have a lovely sound that passengers can go around the archipelago on tripper boats that cruise ships usually take advantage of. Well done on a fantastic year! Safe passage, good watch.
Despite its original purpose, to sail on this vessel is a lovely experience. I was aboard when courting my wife and signed up as shareholder when we took the children on one of the longer voyages ten years later, twenty years ago 💕✔.
Happy New Year to all the marvelous people, who look after this marvelous ship! We look forward to joining you again in 2025!!!
😂😅
Well done to all of you! Happy New Year.
Gorgeous, long may she continue to sail

Congratulations from Graham and Nikki Saw! We loved our D Day cruise with you all and will certainly be coming back again in 2025. Well done all. Only wish we lived nearer so we could volunteer too!😊
Just seen your short vids about your award!! Congratulations! Well done.. We did the D Day cruise with you last year and enjoyed it so much we are definitely going to do another trip next year! Massive Congratulations from Graham and Nikki 😊
Please just steady up and slow down: bearded exuberance has its great place, but heritage is the key; I write as a life member from the turn of the Millennium.

Congratulations! Very well deserved!
Congratulations, well done.
Congratulations to everyone involved!
Congratulations. Very well deserved. 👍👍
Congratulations!!! A VERY well deserved and certainly hard earned award. An amazing ship with such a clearly devoted and amazing team. I look forward to the next season and another cruise with you!!!

What is the reason for the seaman to pull the lever back to "full" and then again push it all the way forward to "full" and only after that pull it to the position he was commanded?
So that the bell rings in the engine room
I like the blue but red suited it better
What a sight
I went to the bourmouth air show 2024 and saw the same ship and my grand dad sailed on wavery the paddle steamer And after i saw this on i wnat to go on it and might
Me and my dad might go on shieldhall i love titanic and this is my only chance to go on a working historic ship i saw it in Bournemouth today at the. Air show
Happy memories of Shield Hall , Best Wishes to all.
reminds me of spiderman into the spiderverse vibes
Blue anti-fouling?
Yeah she looks weird with the blue anti-fouling
Have you ever know that the SS Shieldhall looks simular to MV Liemba?
I personally think the ship looked better with the red anti fouling, but whatever I guess, I'm not in any position to change it back
bro hes just chilling in there LOL
A lot of volunteers have given their spare time to make this possible.
AWESOME!!! That's really cool. Thanks for sharing
Bonnie wee beastie...
Lovely explanation, it would be good to hear both of them in the next short 🙂
She has 2 whistles 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I don't think it is legal to hire a raccoon to clean the funnel. LOL
I'm calling the RSPCA, poor Sooty, lol.
Magnificent
Southampton was really a late player in the ocean liner market, to the best of my knowledge it only really kicked off when White Star inagurated their Southampton service in 1907, providing a weekly service with two of their largest liners Adriatic and Oceanic, and two smaller liners from the previous decade, Teutonic and Majestic. Cunard began servicing Southampton with the Aquitania in 1914, though Lusitania and Mauretania stated at Liverpool until 1919. Following the war, the world's biggest liners all used Southampton docks. There's a glorious poster from the 1930's showcasing SS Normandie and RMS Queen Mary, then the world's grandest liners. An era that has since been lost, but replaced be booming cruise industry.
Tiny detail - Aquitania is pronounced "Aqui-tay-nia", as heard in this 1935 Pathé newsreel: th-cam.com/video/Nt0dK9NfQQA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ThYeKgPlU1qoZESy
This is honestly kinda sad and embarrassing to see. The fact that we embellish this tragedy in such a senseless way. Titanic's journey out of Southampton was nothing out of the ordinary, and she would be followed by hundreds and hundreds of other similar liners. The only difference here being how it ended in tragedy. That's what it boils down to.
ONGGG SHE LOOOKS AMAZINGGGGGGGG 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
She's soooooo beautiful 😍🤩
Good commentary, very dumbed down though, I guess that's a reflection of today's levels of edewkayshun.
Lovely to see and great the ship is still going strong and link to the past.
Fantastic video, thank you!
What a lovely machine! Triple expansion engines! Yes, like the Titanic, but she had two triple expansion reciprocating engines for ahead and a high pressure turbine driving the centre line prop for astern motion and maximum ahead speed. Shieldhall is really beautiful and so odd to have modern equipment we take for granted, yet old fashioned oil fired boilers to make steam. Well done to all of Shieldhall's membership and crew.
Great video! Really interesting talking to you yesterday (8th June) too. A really wonderful day, and I'm sure we will be sailing with you again. Thanks to all the Shieldhall team - you are all doing an amazing job!😁😁
