The video from our Team Dynamics practice in July 2021. We put three new people in armor this day, so some of the stuff looks mismatched as it is loaner gear. We don't generally go full bore at each other in practice, though there are definitely some bumps and bruises from it!

Knees from the clinch can be somewhat effective in certain situations, however armor mitigates much of the damage they do. However people still use them and thus it is important to have options other than to get hit.

    Love this breakdown. I've found it also reduces wear and tear on equipment and helps with losing focus while in kit. Lots of time that helmet goes on and people just fall into fighting habits.

    I have not had as much armor time as I would like and still feel a bit like a cat in a sweater. Are their non combat activities I could do in armor, by myself, to better learn how my body can move in armor and to better acclimate?

    • @IronhideAcademyMedievalCombat
      @IronhideAcademyMedievalCombat ปีที่แล้ว

      Fully getting into kit to do pell work is useful if you don't have anyone to train with. If you only have one or two people to train with then you can do duels or even 2v1 drills.

    • @IronhideAcademyMedievalCombat
      @IronhideAcademyMedievalCombat ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm personally not a big fan. I can see it being useful if you aren't fully kitted or with things like agility drills, but all in all if you are going to take the time to half kit you might as well take the time to full kit.

    • @thechuck4979
      @thechuck4979 ปีที่แล้ว

      We pretty much started it for the purpose of agility drills. We found out later that striking and grappling didn't work well in half kit. Messed up our foam weapons pretty badly

      It's less of a view point and more of following the correct pattern of development. There is a correct way to run practice, though there are a lot of variables that determine that correct way. I'll get into the nuances in future videos.
