NOT based off Robotech. Other way around. And I’m a fan of both.
AirPods were born in this anime.
There was a "Robotech- the movie" in 1986. Did you mention that one? (Transforming motorcycle) This is another one that was somewhere outside of everything else but, hey, Robotech. ::::shurg::::
Good video, just my nitpick, veritech is a robotech term for the variable fighters, the macross term is Valkyrie.
Living near Edwards AFB when this came out, watching the anime was that much more surreal. It was a (very) loose anime adaptation of where I lived. Down to the then novel wind generators in the nearby Tehachapi mountains. And the YF-21 all day.
BLEACHHHHHHH IYKYK
I love this show a lot, it's fun. Especially Margot's Harley Quinn is my favourite and Isekai Harley is so much like her. The look, makeup and her character is so Margot. Fione is my new fav. The action, comedy and soundtrack is so good. This show satisfied me a lot.
Yes it was a lot better then I thought it would be I’m looking forward to a second season
I loved Robotech as a kid, and I love Macross today.
Good job dude. This anime is underrated. Really deserves more appreciations.
Couldn't agree more
Harley Quinn steals the show. She is Gorgeous and kick-ass in the anime.
This is a Great show
i also enjoyed it
Somehow anime lives best on VHS.
Im the first generation of anime fans in Poland. This is the best macross. The ost❤❤❤❤ i love it. It the same for my friends

please do a video essay on ssss. gridman and ssss dynazenon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Record of Lodoss War was not one of Japan’s first high fantasy novels by a long shot. It had already been an established genre for decades.
the OVA was awesome. what's wrong with you
Zero then macross tv series.. then macross frontier.. the rest is crap
I really enjoyed this anime. And you did a great review of it. Keep up the good work.
It was pretty good hope they do another season
@@AnimeMangaFiles Me too, but probably going to have to read the manga.
I personaly like Robotech over Macross. I got all 85 episodes and am thinking of digitlizing them and enhancing the auido. The Macross Saga, The Masters and The New Generation. This makes up the full 85 episodes. Also the movies: Codename Robotech, Robotech the Movie and The sentinals. I also managed to get another movie where all the crew are female but cant remember the name.
Loved this, I've still got the vhs tapes ❤
No, no, no! It's "Macross/Robotech". NOT. The other way around. Let's make that clear.
I agree.
😁
Well that was nightmare fuel if I ever saw it

Loved this 1. The music was so good for its time. When he dual weild the two swords. 😮😮😮
I think surprisingly as a kid, I actually did enjoy all the drama between the characters. This is one of many anime stories that taught me that the build up is what makes the action scenes worth it. The same goes for the music, often times I would show friends a song and they'd say "yeah it's okay", which is an expected response now to any piece of song that has no context. Once they saw the movie or game, they'd simply walk it back and say "omg I love this song now". This is the same for the dialogue in these stories, if you don't understand the drama, then the action scenes won't hit as hard as they are meant to. Probably the most influential reason that made me actually pay attention to the story was the absolutely insane range of tracks that Yoko Kanno created for this movie. The genres and themes are all over the place, but they go along perfectly with the mood of each scene and that's just the perfect unison between what is being shown and what is being heard. I think that Macross Plus is one of those few exceptions where even if you didn't understand a single word of the movie, you would simply feel it and fill in the blanks thanks to the music and performance of the actors.
Great pacing, yes. I do prefer the full four episodes over the film.

The best part of Do you remember love? is at one point when hikaru fires a group of missiles from his veritech and when they pass by the screen if you look close enough you’ll see one of them is a Budweiser beer can.
The great thing about robotech I think is that, besides the cartoon, Karl macek had his entire idea for the series from beginning to end in written out in a book series. It was really tied together nicely from start to finish. They even added his own continuation from the end of the cartoon called the shadow wars. Then they finished it all by tying it to the very beginning of the series. Really good read if you can find them.
Definitely way ahead of it's time, drone technology, advanced AI. The movie removed some scenes eg the first battle scene. But added an extended cut of Guld vs Ghost X9.
Your channel is highly underrated.
I think the implication with the lack of city names is that they’re destroyed so often that having to name and rename them would be redundant.
Its autumn 2024, and Macross is being drip fed released in the west on Disney Plus of all places 😮 Edit: macross 7 and macross plus have just been added, but the maross plus english dub (the manga one with bryan cranston) isn't an option. But that's not all that surprising.
Thx bro

love the lisa and rick hunter story. were they in anyother robotech series?
Robotech II: The Sentinels is the only continuation of that story (outside the Jack McKinney novels).
Only one way to watch macross.... watch the movie "do you remember love" and thats it
Love the series. When i discoverd the ova back in the early 2000`s i loved it so much that i got both the ova and chronicles on dvd. They are one of my precious dvds i will never throw away.

Why you guys not uploading more videos?
We have more coming soon. Thank you for the reply 🙏
I think you misunderstand people’s relationship or perceived hatred of Robotech. It’s almost never hatred of Robotech. It’s hatred of Harmony Gold who has held the franchise hostage in the west since the 80’s, making it so the only way to watch it was to sail the high seas.
I really liked this one, the OVA, I didn't see the movie, and I hope to see it again. Did you know that a version of the X-9 Ghost is in the original Macross/Robotech, blink and you will miss it. As for Macross Plus I liked how the story slowly open over OVA and we get the surprise be for the fight with the AI, what a twist.
They need to go back to their roots instead of trying to be a poor symphogear clone.
Also thought of the difference with Robotech and SDF Macross was the Zentradi destroyed earth in Marcoss but in Robotech there wasnt an apocalypse, things were settled before damage happened. Please correct me if I am wrong.
Such a great film, and you are right with the style, it's what i grew up with having got into Anime in the late 80s and. Dangaioh; the 3 ep series and the film made from those matches this style too, and is also one of my fave's from back in the day. Anime today is basically unwatchable for me, i think the last series i bothered to watch was the original Naruto whenever that was and i did really enjoyed that but definately by the end of that i was moving away from Anime. These days Anime is so muted and dumbed down from the raw and visceral experience we were given in the 80s/90s. No Cyber City OEDO 808 (probably the best soundtrack ever, search for Cyber City Oedo 808 - Full Ost [Remastered]) X, Doomed Megalopolis, Appleseed, Battle Angel Alita and i could go on. Maybe as you say a lot of that also comes with that Nostalgia feeling, but they really were truely great back then. Partly i guess as they were aimed at the slightly older demographic both in Japan and here in the UK and i guess US also. My brother and I bought pretty much every Anime back in the 90s as soon as it hit here in the UK on VHS, still have boxes of them in my garage. I'll happily watch those older series/films but just can't do the modern ones. I've met many younger (in their 20s) Anime fans over the years playing various online games, and i say "fans" and yet almost all of them had not seen Akira, the quintessential Anime experience, or any other Anime's older than like 10 years back. Maybe that's a bit "gatekeepy" saying that, but it's Akira. The original Ghost in the Shell i could maybe let pass, but not Akira.
You keep mentioning character as if they are on screen right at that moment, and they aren't. I would watch that in the future videos. Thanks, always willing to listen to other people talk about Macross.
