Great idea. Going to give this a try for the alpaca paddock
@@pennybutler418 let us know how it goes for alpacas! Have to admit with cows it is not reducing wastage as much as we’d hoped. Mainly because Summer is such a messy eater 😭
It is so nice to see you guys, you have such a wonderful relationship. Cory is so smart, capably, hardworking and tough. There's a ton of grass cover already around the area of the leaky weir, so the rain is hitting this grass and slowly seeping into the soil rich with deep roots, and plenty of space to hold the incoming influx of water into the system.
Impressive, I really enjoy watching your practical approach to building stuff. Watching from the a very windy UK 🥰
@@paulinestevens9351 hello UK! Thanks for hanging out with us 😁
I love the way you look after your babies. As a kid on the family farm, we had a couple of milking cows and they never had a shelter, neither did my grandfathers milking cows but they were a bit further south and the ozone layer wasn't as depleted.

New subscriber. Greetings from Georgia, US. Found you hunting for a roll away nesting box idea. My naughty birds have taken to eating thier eggs. This style won't work for me. I need a front style roll away. But I so enjoyed your post, and look forward to sharing a cup of coffee and hanging out on your channel some time.
We had Imperial measurement and went to metric = inch to millimetre (not centimetre). Get and use a tape in millimetres Not Centimetres. Aussie please don't talk about 100 centimetres but 1000 millimetres. Working in millimetres gets perfection.
Love the enthusiasm, excellent work, LOVE the willingness to learn!!! Take nothing as gospel Take everything in & apply relevant ideas to your situation As a south aussie with some home ground knowledge, my hairbrained suggestions would be to 1: don't worry about clay content in your soil type, look to increase the homus stuff 2: try turning small swales at the right time of year to encourage native seed to sprout that was deep dormant seed previously (a few skids will help trigger fire seeds too) Two thumbs up Don't take my bs as gospel either
You'll probably find the witches broom is the start of the bulb going into flower. Leave it long enough and it will grow at least one crown that will, when properly matured, produce garlic seeds.
Oh how interesting! Maybe we should leave one in 🤔
Hi Corey and Amanda. I am jealous about your garlic! Re the elderflower - mine was in the ground and it suckered everywhere! Just hope yours is contained.
Oh dear… I’m not confident ours is contained sufficiently 😧
Hi I have stumbled across your channel and have been enjoying watching your dilemma’s. I am from Melbourne but have watched other you tube content from which I believe could help your situation. Mainly India swales projects & WFO Africa Niger Sahara Green Belt. The Aussie guys you mention are also good. I am not in your position but I have always been amazed by the mismanagement of the Australian Landscape and wish the Government would do more to allow its citizens to green the landscape more back from the 70’s as a child visiting the Surrounding country in Melbourne Etc . Any way I hope this helps best regards Chris Ps have you done an aerial shot and topographic survey of your land to see the highest to lowest points so then you can trap capture you’re water and clay bottom your damns and swales
Hi Corey and Amanda thank you for another informative video, your garlic is looking amazing. I haven't had much success growing garlic, but that was in Tassie, now that we are in Qld I will try again. I noticed that you plant quite close together so I will give that a go. Great find re the eggs. Well done re the fruit trees and we hope that the deal e them comes off, it will benefit us all. Stay safe and happy, Coen and Jay
Thankyou! Now, I know they look close together but the cloves were planted about 15cm apart. We’ve hit a video of Amanda planting the crop back in April. The year prior we planted too close together at only 10cm and we didn’t have as good a harvest.
Alternate title for this video.... 'Rockpile annihilates Bush Edge' 😂 Congrats guys. Looking fantastic 👌
It was suggested! 😂 but ya know/.. we like to keep it classy over here Rach
@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead 🤣😂🤣
Here is a little experiment with mullberries and chickens that is feeding the chickens the ripened mullberries for a week and see the colour of the yolk of the eggs.
@@elephantfeet280 well if the colour of their poop is any indication 😂😂
@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead well years ago we had a mullberry tree in our backyard along with lady fingers banana trees also chickens and when the mullberries ripened and fell off the tree the chickens had a feed of mullberries and the yolks were purple in color my late father thought the eggs were off but the yolks had mullberries flavor. It happened before I was born like back in the 1960's.
I have made a lovely cordial from the elderberry flowers, sometimes they do not produce berries. 🌿
@@sharonbromley2850 I was wondering about the flowers because I’ve seen both elderflower and elderberry products mentioned 🤔
The paid partnership sounds great. We have a pretty similar range of fruit/nut trees but no idea how to look after them, and the parrots are the only ones enjoying any fruit. Our trees are very big and old, so how to prune to a manageable size is definitely something that would be useful. All the pruning videos on TH-cam deal with new, young or small fruit trees. Love the secret squirrel references 😂
Sounds like you’ll get some value out of it too! We’re hoping to start with a planning video that will map out an entire year of what to do with our trees so hopefully you’ll be able to follow along. We’ll try to keep it timely as well, like posting in the same week we do stuff.
Elderberry is s great pioneer tree for your swales. I hope its not too hot for them outside of your shade house,,, but its worth a go,,, just transplant a few root suckers from your tree in the video.
Why not collect all the onion seeds,,, collect them, and go for a walk along your swale just casting them out willy nilly style. If they come of something great, if not it doesn't matter,
@@adammac4381 not a bad idea!
GIN! Make gin.
Do you like gin? We don’t, but I’d try if I had someone to offload it to 😂
@@ROCKPILEOffgridHomestead it’s all I drink these days. Same with most of my friends.

Great idea guys, but why not use the steel post for the size of the mulch area. Eg. The drip zone of the tree. Then leave the shade cloth open on the bottom to where the mesh reaches
Wait until the outer casing on the almond splits open then harvest them.
Thankyou!
From all the rain we've had this year, my fruit trees are abundantly full this year.
That’s great! I think this is the lowest rain year we’ve had since living here 😂
I had never grown garlic until this year. I planted every clove in a single row around my garden bed. After watching your video it would explain why i have had an absolutely shocking season. I pulled them all out this week and some had started to split open and the size ridiculously small. If i give garlic a try again next year i will plant it close together and in one bed on their own. Great work folks!
