EFL class in China. Reading activity.

In this class, students read and then chose a peer to read and so on. This activity works in a larger class. As you can see the kids are involved and excited to read. It also reduces teacher talktime and the class is student lead. It also helped me to preserve my energy, as I would teach 4-5 classes in a day.

What is your opinion about CertTESOL and DipTESOL?
Hi! Both hold its value, but primarily if you are looking to work in Asia. Within India only some companies/ schools recognise them.
Is there demand for teaching English online? I mean if it worth doing celta, if goal is to tech online part time and not doing job in a school. Also where and how can we search for online opportunities if the answer is yes? Btw, it's great video and upto the point 😊
Thank you for your feedback my friend. CELTA is useful whether you teach online or at schools. You can train IELTS applicants, take corporate batches and be a content writer once you get the certification. You can look for esl teaching opportunities on eslcafe.com, gooeverseas.com, teachaway.com to name a few. All the best :)
Hi sir. What level of Mandarin or Cantonese should I possess to be eligible to teach English in China?
Speaking mandarin isn't an eligibility criteria, but it helps you settle early on. I learned Mandarin to order food, connect with the locals. Its fun :)

Hi! It will help you teach offline/ in classroom as well. You can be a corporate trainer/ private language schools/ schools in general.

Hello sir, I have completed my graduation in English. I don't want to do b.ed as most of the colleges in my city don't offer quality education. So, I was thinking that is it good for me to do CELTA? Will a CELTA degree be enough to teach English in Indian schools?

Hello Kumarji. Would a CELTA be beneficial to a PhD holder who wants to teach adult learners? I wanted to know whether it would be a good add-on for a university position in other asian countries.
Hi Lakshmi! In all honesty, CELTA will only help you if you apply for an EAL/ ESL /EFL teaching position. Other than that it isn't really an add-on. All the best :)

Hi Tina! So sorry for a late reply. You can do CELTA, but will have to be patient with jobs. Build your experience with aby teaching opportunity that you get in the beginning. Let me know if you have specific questions :)

There isn't much difference between online and physical CELTA. The certificate doesn't even mention online. You can email me if you need further guidance. :)

Hi Harnoor! Sorry for the late reply. You can be an IELTS trainer if you complete the CELTA. As it is designed primarily to help with the 4 language skills. Institutes like British Council, India also offer certificates in IELTS teaching. All the best :) let me know if you have more questions.
What about CERT TESOL Trinity ??? From India. Much cheaper. Does it bear less significance?
Hi Tauseef! They don't bear less significance, but CELTA in general holds more credibility because of CAMBRIDGE. Also, internationally CELTA is more recognized.

Hi! What you need to learn is the british pronunciations of words. That should do it :)
@@ealteacherkumarsharma8078 ok. Thank you. But it's awkward to use them as some words like 'water' appear quite different to the listener.
As long as you pronounce correct you don't really have to put up an accent. What we learn in India is British English, but unfortunately most of our teachers at school do not focus on pronunciation. I suggest you watch BBC.com and read article as well. You will learn well.

Hi Rohit! You can pursue CELTA, but the best opportunities will come to you gradually, with working on smaller jobs. It is an expensive course. All the best :)

Is it possible to consider completing the CELTA course anywhere in the world with a provisional acceptance from one of its recognised centres?
These days CELTA can be done part time spread across 3 months. You could be anywhere.
The class is having a great time reading haha what game are they playing?
Haha. It was a reading activity, I asked them to nominate the next reader once one stops reading. So everyone was alert :)
@@ealteacherkumarsharma8078 it's nice to see such an enthusiastic class. I remember how the opposite of a similar reading activity turned out for me! I was part of the class that looked dead scared of reading where nobody wanted to volunteer lol. Well this was back in 2009 :p I'm so happy we've come a long way with teaching reading to children.

Actually some countries do accept non natives, I worked in China on a legal working visa. But of course was at the receiving end of a lot of rejection before.

Actually its important to understand that both are distinctly different in terms of domains. CELTA is an EAL/ESL/EFL teaching qualification. You don't really do CELTA to teach literature. But it can be an added advantage if you have both. Eal Teachers give support in literature at schools. Its what I do.

CELTA itself is very expensive. It does not EVENTUALLY accepts fees from students. So spending a lot of money on a probability of getting a good job paying as much itself needs a lot of thought.
Agreed! Also, its important to understand and consider the factors that decide the probability i.e. your goals, skills, the age at which you do CELTA, and most importantly your passion for teaching.
Hello, I've a query. Actually I'm interested in Celta as English has always been my favorite subject. But as a non native speaker i doubt my proficiency is C1. So what can I do? how to overcome this problem? Can you tell me? Shall I still go for it?
Hello Axel! To pursue CELTA you need to be a minimum B2 with your English. There is no reason why you cannot up your language proficiency. I hope this answers your question :)

Hi Pooja ! Sorry for the late reply. It all depends on how ambitious you are with teaching English. You may not make it big right away after CELTA. TAake as many teaching jobs as you can, even if it pays less. Once you get a couple of years of teaching experience, then you can certainly work at schools/ or as an online teacher. I have 5 years of experience teaching English to young learners from 10 to 14 years of age. The only problem for me is that I live in Iran and our currency has been devalued in the past couple of years but I still have enough savings to go abroad and complete the CELTA course. My only question is whether you think getting the CELTA can help me land jobs in other countries and finally leave my home country for good. My motivation is indeed money but I'm also quite a good teacher and was recently chosen as the best teacher in my province. I must note that my experience is in teaching young learners and I've never taught adults. Your opinion on the matter would be dearly appreciated.
