    Sir one more thing do they teach us proper pronunciation and how to increase our vocabulary and other aspects of grammar during the course or they only teach us how to teach ?

    • @ealteacherkumarsharma8078
      @ealteacherkumarsharma8078  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Vanshika! CELTA doesn't teach you pronunciation, it basically prepares you to be a better teacher. More focus on methodology and skills. But there a couple of sessions on phonetics, which will help you to learn pronunciation. As far as the salary is concerned, you can earn anywhere between 2k$ to 4k$, depending on where you work. All the best :)

      Hi Priyanka! In order to teach English outside India, CELTA is important. Most of the ESL jobs require a TEFL qualification. So you can either do a CELTA or TEFL. All the best :)

      Thanks for the feedback Ayyadudeen. Yes, CELTA will open doors for new teaching opportunities both abroad and in India. More so in India, you can work as a freelancer or at schools and private language institutes.

    Sir, I recently completed my MA in English. And want to teach English abroad. I am not a native speaker. A B. Ed degree is necessary for teaching or instead Celta would be enough to apply abroad? As it takes two years to complete b. Ed, i am not much interested in doing it.

    • @ealteacherkumarsharma8078
      @ealteacherkumarsharma8078  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ayisha! Apologies for a late reply. To teach abroad CELTA along with 2 years of teaching experience should be enough. However, do check the visa policies of the countries you want to work in.

      Hi! I mean a Bachelor's degree is a minimum. The good thing about CELTA is that you need not be from a teaching profession to pursue it. It doesn't require you to have done any similar course either, your language skills need to be at a B2 level at least. All the best. Let me know if I can answer any further questions of yours.

      Hi Pratiksha! So you can do CELTA from any of the 5 cities (Mumbai, Kolkatta, Hyderabad, Delhi and Chennai). The fee is 1.45 lac, and there are no scholarships for this course. Not that I know of. It is very difficult to get ESL jobs abroad, but China, Dubai, South Korea and few countries in South America do accept applications from non native English teachers. It is difficult but not impossible. All the best and do let me know if you have more questions :)

      Hello Pratiksha! You must be thorough with grammar. This will help you a great deal. You can practise writing in your free time. There are a few written assignments in CELTA, and you are expected to be efficient. Other than that just enter the course with an openness to learn. You will have a good time. Participate in every activity, be interactive and a good team player. last but not the least, manage your time well. All the best :)

    Hello Mr. Kumar,
    Very clear information from an Indian CELTA graduate.
    I have a couple of questions I would like to ask you.
    1. I am a middle school English teacher at a CBSE school but I don't hold a BA or MA degree in English (I hold a BE degree). I am looking to apply in other schools. But schools generally expect at least a BA degree in English Literature from an English teacher. Will getting a Cambridge CELTA certificate help me to get teaching opportunities in schools in India? Will Trinity DipTESOL be better? (I wonder why no one talks about or does DipTESOL)
    2. Are online course certificates considered as good as face-to-face courses by the employers? (Provided on www.oxfordtefl.com)
    Thanks.

    • @ealteacherkumarsharma8078
      @ealteacherkumarsharma8078  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Anush! Thanks for the feedback. To answer your questions, CELTA does help your cause if you want to work at schools. Just CELTA however won't be enough to get through. What helped me was my teaching experience in China. You must also decide if you want to be an ESL teacher or just an English teacher. If its the former, then its important to muster some experience before applying at schools. Prior to my CELTA, I was an online ESL teacher for about 2 years, and I also worked with some private language institutes. The experience letters from these organisations, got me the job in China. If you have the time then I'd recommend you must get your B.ED done. As far as TESOL is concerned, in India it is not so recognised. CELTA is globally valued and even in India most international schools and organisations are aware of it. Not to an extent that we would have liked, but still it is getting better. I am not saying TESOL isn't good, but CELTA is more known, heard and spoken of. You can do your CELT either online or in class, the certificate doesn't state whether you've done it online or in class. In class CELTA is just a great experience in itself, so much to learn. It is a hands on learning model. If you can't spare 3 straight weeks from your year, then might as well do it online. I am not sure how old are you, but if you are young enough and money isn't much of a concern, then gather as much work experience as you can after CELTA. It will make your profile strong, and schools and organisations will give it more attention. I hope I've answered all your question buddy. Let me know if you need more guidance. All the best :)

      @@ealteacherkumarsharma8078 Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I found it extremely helpful. :)
      Definitely I would want to be an ESL teacher but I've read that the opportunities are not so good for non-native English speakers. Nonetheless, that is my preference. I would love to travel and teach. Being a traveller, that's almost too good to be true for me. :D Even working as an ESL teacher in India sounds good.
      Also, I'm 28 currently. About the B.Ed, I understand I should have the degree but giving 2 years to it doesn't seem plausible. I feel like it's better to do an MA in that time.
      About the DipTESOL course, it is a diploma as compared to CELTA, a certificate. It is provided by www.oxfordtefl.com online and costs around 3 lakh rupees. Seems way too much for an online course. Do you think it's worth it and better than CELTA in my case?

    • @ealteacherkumarsharma8078
      @ealteacherkumarsharma8078  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Don't do it my friend. It's just too much money, when there are other courses like CELTA which can help you in the same way. You can work abroad, a lot of patience is required though. Difficult but not impossible :)
