We are a family located in Central Minnesota milking 180 dairy cows and raising our 3 kids. Our hope is to provide some entertainment and to also create some lifelong memories for our kids. Travis started farming full time in 2012 when he graduated from college. We got married in 2016 and built our forever home on the dairy farm in 2021. We're excited to have you here!
Millennial Farming vs. Old School Farming
Started out making some modifications to our merger. Well give it a try next week and see if it works the way I envision it work. Next, we headed to help a neighboring farmer with making small straw bales. I have never actually stacked small straw bales before. Dad has tried a few times to have me stack them, but the baler never worked for us. We headed to Dave’s to help make some straw bales and we stacked 2 wagons full. It was definitely an experience! Oddly, I actually liked it. It was good to see how my Dad grew up farming. By the time I was farming, we were already chopping. But my Dad has always told me the stories of how he grew up farming. It was time for me to give it a try!

We continue to deal with some pneumonia in our calf barn. We're troubleshooting, some people have come out and given some ideas, etc. The calf barn was designed and built specifically to NOT have this problem. Chopper Fixing, AGAIN

Just when we thought we had the chopper fixed and ready to go, we abruptly found out we were not right. After some more trial and error and fixing out in the field. We got it figured out and are good to go! Let’s hope that’s the last of the problems we have for this year with the chopper. Had a scraper break down in the barn we had to get fixed up. We ran out of high moisture corn and had our own corn in the bin yet, so we took it outta the bin and ground it down. Our grinder isn’t the most reliable, so we rent one from a neighbor. We still small square our straw and some hay. Not as much as we used to. Got a thrower baler though.
LOL you can say that again back in the 80s there was 3 farms me and my brothers would help out 1 farm we would bale 1200 bales in a day usually 210-220 bales to a wagon get done around 6pm go to the next door neighbors farm help them unload 8 wagons about 175 bales a wagon get done around 1030pm and get up the net morning and stack about 800 bales on the 3rd farm

We put up about 12000 bales ayear. Alfalfa, grass and straw.Started chopping and round bales because couldn't find help doing square bales and not enough time or storage space.

I think this year has been a challenge for everyone. Glad I'm not alone. Seems like a never ending list of projects to do or things that have broken or things that just needed to be replaced! Great video.
Town ball was a real big thing threw out the Midwest for many years and a grate thing.
